Clark's Oyster Bar Aspen
Love this place. It is fresh and fun. Started dining here in Austin Texas and was so happy it opened in aspen. A perfect fit for the low key cool you want in aspen.
Fantastic seafood. Each dish was generous and tasted great. Somewhat reasonable prices for Aspen.
My fiance, his parents and I came here on New Years Eve day for lunch and it was amazing. You need to make a reservation ahead of time since its so popular. The Oysters are delicious, cocktails are awesome, and the atmosphere was cozy, warm, and good people watching.
This was my second visit to Clark's and it did not disappoint! We had a terrific server who guided us to a perfect meal. Delicious, well prepared food. They did a fabulous job transforming Annie's to a completely new airy lighter space. Will go back for sure!
We booked a table for 2 at 5:30 roughly a week in advance as this was a special birthday dinner celebration. We had an event at 7:30, so we were on a schedule.
We requested at quiet table away from large parties. When we arrived we were shown to our 2 top table right in the middle of the restaurant. There were several other empty 2 top tables so we asked about them and were promptly told those were reserved. (We would have been happy to sit at one of those other two tops.) We were given absolutely no choice of tables. It was the one they had reserved for us without reading our request or nothing.
We told the manager that this was a special occasion and he said that he had not read the note since we booked it on Open Table-but he could do nothing for us. He told us he wished he could do something for us. We left to salvage the rest of our special evening since the manager certainly could have done something for us- but simply chose not to- nor did he take any responsibility for not noting our request. Instead, he didn’t seem the least bit concerned. We will never go back which is unfortunate since we are locals.
Food was fabulous
Amazing food, service and atmosphere
The best, as always!
Clark's has amazing food. The Oysters are always fresh and delicious with great suggestions from staff, if needed. While it isn't cheap, it is worth every penny. I haven't had a single thing I didn't love, and "the cherry on top" is the butterscotch pot de creme. I highly recommend this restaurant if you love great quality and delicious seafood.
Consistently delicious w/ great service- Well done!
They put something in their fries that make them addictive! Can’t stop until they are all gone...
Greet place for great food - trout with the smoked paprika was full of flavor. Seared sea scallops got rave reviews.
So sad to see the key lime pie disappear for the winter ~ hope it reappears in the spring!
Excellent food and service. One member of our group joined us late and all entree’s came out together on time. Well done!
A wonderful casual addition to the Aspen dining scene
Great food ~ nice atmosphere!
Raw oysters are soooo good!
Ok. Good oysters
The interior design immediately gives a relaxed and happy feeling with the white walls, light wood beams, woven light fixtures and fire in the fireplace. Two wait staff waited on us so we always felt attended to. And if enjoying ourselves wasn’t enough the food was delicious! My chioppino was the best I’ve ever had and my husband loved the snapper.
Service and Food was excellent. Great new spot in Aspen. Seafood quality was excellent.
This place is great. Good service and excellent food. We had a fun time!
We love Clark's! Wish they had a cookbook! See you soon...
Always have a great meal. Love this new spot. John was awesome on the bar.
I just moved to Aspen about 5 month ago, and my parents came to visit me and there friends came as well. Out of all the meals they had in a span of 4 days they said Clark’s was their favorite one! Thank you very much!
Service great. Food was good but portions quite skimpy for the price. Brownie desert was awful.
Go for the oysters only - they have a good selection and they are fresh, no need for a real chef. What we tried otherwise on the menu was unedible (what is so difficult in preparing mussels and clams in wine without overcooking and overspicing - with pepper! Of all spices). I hope they do have a real chef in-season. The service was good.
I know I came at the end of the lunch hour but the guy seating me was super sweet and took my soup order and I was basically ignored after that - I finally went up to the bar and got my own glass of rose myself.
I guess the a waitstaff person came over and asked if I was enjoying my food and if I was done but when I said no disappeared and mulled around in the corner - honestly Is it that hard to be attentive ? Of course I had to ask for my check while standing at the hostess stand. One of the few times in my life I have a zero tip
Freshest seafood and not a single average meal on the menu. All excellent and different.
It was beyond wonderful!! We always have the best time at Clark’s!
I have had lunch here once and dinner once. My husband and I both agreed that the food was way too salty. The frisee salad that accompanied my clam/mussel entree was so salty I could not eat it. The ambience was good and the service fine.
We love Clark’s. However, I always buy a loaf of bread. The bread served at the table was burned and the loaf I purchased was burnt.
Amazing. We cannot wait to go back again. The service and the food are both outstanding.
It was delicious
Clark’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Aspen. Their house-made sourdough is like tasting heaven. I also love the burger, fish selection and crudo plate.
Such a wonderful experience at Clarks. We went there about every other week and they meet our expectations every time.
The best! Love this spot!! The Austin location has always been a fav of mine and now the Aspen location is too!
Good food. Attentive but not over powering service. The oysters were delicious.
Great seafood, amazing atmosphere, wonderful service
Have been to Aspen 30 or more times over the years, have always been disappointed in the dining. It's easy to spend a lot of money in Aspen and get a very mediocre (even bad) meal. I was totally blown away by Clark's, the food was great, I thought the prices were reasonable, and the service was absolutely outstanding. This is my new favorite dining place in Aspen, I would recommend it to anyone, hope they don't get so busy, they cut corners to keep up.
Great food, great service
Worst service ever! If Shawn/Sean is your waiter, leave before you order anything. He was the rudest, most unresponsive waiter we have ever experienced. After waiting 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we had been seated, we finally flagged down a hostess to take our drink order. When we were initially seated, we only had one dinner menu. After a few minutes they brought us a second one and within 5 more minutes another waiter asked if he could take one and snatched it up and delivered it to another table. Can they not afford more than two menus for the entire restaurant?
In fairness, the gin and tonics were very good, so the bartender at least knows what he is doing. For all we know, the food may have been good, but Shawn’s attitude ruined the experience. He finally showed up at our table more than 30 minutes after we had been seated. When we asked if there were any specials, he curtly replied “It’s all on there”. OK, sorry we asked I guess. When we finished our dinner, he put a small dessert menu on our table without saying a word or asking if we were interested in hearing about the desserts. Then without ever checking back to see if we wanted dessert he brought the check. Frankly, we were just ready to escape by that time. I literally wrote “Shawn is a terrible waiter” on the credit card receipt so management would know.
On the way out my wife told the maitre’d about our terrible experience. She followed us outside as she didn’t want those waiting inside the door to hear what we we’re discussing. My wife was near tears telling of our horrible experience. She was very contrite and apologetic and the next morning, I had a text letting me know they had comped our meal. I guess that softened the blow, but that was never the intent of our complaint. Even the hostess who took our drink order should have known we had not yet been engaged by a waiter, but she didn’t spur anyone to action. Service starts at the top and apparently it’s not a priority for this group.
Had gone to this restaurant 3 days earlier and the service and food was wonderful. This time 2 of the three exact dishes were ordinary. Rarely saw our waiter either. Would still come back but for a Saturday night that wasn’t extremely busy I would of thought it could have been better.
Just needs to work on consistency.
