About
After asking us to wait for 30 minutes for a table and access the bar, we were informed upon being seated that the menu was in the process of being changed and most items ( in fact, all of the items our party of 7 wished to order) were unavailable. This when we had held the res for over a week. We left. Clancey’s is definitely not recommended, but the excellent simple Dominican place on the corner, called Cibao, welcomed us warmly and served up delicious mofongo and arroz con camarones. Skip the hip atmosphere of Clancey’s and go for the warm bienvenida dominicana at Cibao, at half the price.
Food was good. The service was a bit on the slow side took 20 minutes to get the carafe of mimosa we ordered and we were next to the bar. Place just seemed understaffed and felt bad for our waiter cause he was trying the best he can to cover the entire restaurant. We would have ordered more drinks, but after an hour and a half of waiting with no silverware and napkins by the time the food was served my friends got a little worried we were just gonna stay there longer.
Our waiter was amazing and even though it was chaotic they were low staffed, they still made us feel special and taken care of.
YOU MUST GET THE FRENCH TOAST
Aside from the pork belly noodles, below average food, worse drinks (including slightly stale beer), and poor service (had two waiters who did not coordinate - and it was still very slow!)
Overall very nice time!
Great little brunch place. Awesome cocktails (3 slices of bacon in the Bloodier Mary!), delicious food and great service. Highly recommend!
Celebrated my birthday there. It was great and everyone had a wonderful time.
My friend and I were there for about 30 minutes before having to flag down the waitresses to take our drink order. The bloody marys were nothing special, the "Not your kids lemonade stand" was delicious. We had to again flag down a waitress to take our food order. To be fair, they seemed understaffed for a New Years Day brunch, as there were only two servers who were running food, bussing tables and taking orders. However, any time we flagged them down to ask for something it was on the table within a few minutes. The "obligatory burger" was tasty and the fries were perfect. Reasonable prices, and good overall value for the food.
Delicious brunch. Not too crowded and good service
The service and food were great!
The coffee was terrible. The avocado on my toast was brown and oxidized. Overall a total bummer.
The chicken and challah was amazing! And great service from Jody!
I was so excited for this place because it was so quiet compared to other LES brunch spots. No hassle with a rez, either, but now I know why. I ordered the bacon sweet potato hash with over medium eggs. I'm good with spicy food but this was inedible, overpowering with black pepper. And the eggs came cooked over hard. My husband's chicken and challah was also overdone with the black pepper. Not as much as mine, so he was able to eat his.
We all also ordered tea, but they ran out of teabags. Seriously? Stock tea for brunch, people! And when we asked for teaspoons, they brought ONE for the 3 of us—we all had hot drinks. The staff seemed all over the place, with two people giving us checks at different times. Clean it up, Clancey. And hold the pepper.
Great service nice people.
Was a good time with good food.
Service was excellent, the food was really good, and we'll definitely be back
GET THE OYSTERS! We were dying for New Orleans style parmesan/lemon/garlic oysters and Clancey delivered!
Great brunch menu. Service and food both excellent. Waiters made great recommendations as well. The avocado toast with poached eggs was great as well as the classic BEC. Will definitely be returning.
Felt neglected despite being one of only three tables in the entire restaurant. We were instructed to “take a seat over there” from the guy behind the bar, then left to wait to be greeted for the next 10 minutes. Finally ordered our drinks which were dropped off in a timely manner, but instead of then asking if we wanted to place our app/dinner order, the server just turned around and disappeared.
We then sat for another 24 minutes before being approached again (yes, I timed it, as I watched our server get food orders and everything else for tables that had been seated well after our arrival). I kept trying to catch her eye, but to no avail. Eventually I waved down one of the 4 other employees that were standing around doing absolutely nothing.
Food was adequate but nothing special... can get much better food with exponentially better service at no less than 50 other restaurants within a half mile radius alone. Don’t recommend.
I brought a group of 8 teenagers (including myself) for a brunch at 10am, the time the restaurant opens, on a Saturday morning. The staff was generally courteous despite our occasionally dumb behavior. The food was very good.
Staff was accommodating. Some of the items we saw on the online menu weren’t on the menu in the restaurant but they offered to make what we wanted since they had the ingredients. Food was all tasty and well prepared. Cocktails were good. Reasonably priced for NYC. I’d go back.
Grilled oysters were great. A bit disappointed with the cocktail drink selections. Sarah and service were great!
Great brunch menu. All items were really good.
The waitress n chef were very helpful and accommodating to peanut allergies at our table.
Fun vibe
Davey was fabulous! Our brunch was outstanding and the food was excellent. Will definitely be back!
Very inventive dishes, asparagus grilled cheese was a pleasant surprise, chicken and waffles was scrumptious. A bit on the pricier side for brunch, but enjoyed the flavors and the intimate setting.
Casual date night. Great atmosphere, amazing food and service. The menu was interesting and the energy of the restaurant and street are great!
I went for the Happy Hour on Thursday and sat at the bar with a friend. There weren't many people in there for Happy Hour so the Bartender was able to give us a lot of attention. The baked oysters were good and only $2. I was expecting it to be char-grilled like the ones in New Orleans but they weren't. Still pretty yummy though.
Great spot, we were looking for a place we had not been before. Fantastic food and beverage!
Clancey is my "go to" bar. Amazing and unique drinks. I can never decide what to get!!! The Moscow mule literally calls me in my dreams. I love the bacon wrapped treats and the lettuce wedge. Large and open, it always feels welcoming.
The food was great, and the price was very reasonable. I would come back here any weekend.
What a cool place to come for dinner. We shared the yesterday's lo mein - pork belly was incredible and crispy; the steak entree, and the fish tacos. Atmosphere was energetic and fun. Server, while someone called out so it was just her on the floor, was charismatic, upbeat, and attentive. Service was a bit scattered and our steak was overcooked, but it really didn't damper our time there. They sent us a new steak, and we were occupied by the other food we had. Overall I'd absolutely go back, and really enjoyed the meal there!
We chose Clancey for our Valentine's dinner because we liked the menu options, especially some of the low-country fare. The oyster appetizer was one of the items that sealed the deal in our decision. We were disappointed to discover when we arrived that they had no oysters that night. But the server and chef more than made up for it, giving us several small plates of other delicious items to sample. The "something wrapped in bacon" on skewers was delicious. The shrimp and grits was as good as anything we've eaten in Charleston, and possibly better. All told, we would go there again in a heartbeat for a quality dining experience.
It’s a casual place but the food is very solid. Fun spot for a small group dinner
Food was delicious as always but a tad bit overpriced. Service was a bit slow but understood bc place was packed.
Good food!
Nice time early dinner NYE. I would come back! The manager was very accomodating and fun and the food and timing was great!
Great food and cocktails. I’ll be trying this place again!
Food was great! They had limited staff so the service was poor, however, they were doing their best.
Great food and service. Amazing plus that Clancey takes brunch reservations
