Very average sorry to say. Not as good as we remember from a few year back. The greeting hostess was so glum and miserable. Not a welcoming smile or greeting. Just showed us to our table. Not impressed.
Looking at the restaurant it looked like it was be a good spot for a date night... meh. Survive was slow, they forgot a side dish i had ordered, there were plenty of open table and we were placed in the middle of the restaurant in a very noisy area. The house bread has a strange taste that i can’t place... smokey salmon almost? Was a first time visit and might be the last.
A bit slow maybe because I are at the bar. The food portions are quite large and very tasty
Waiter did not bring me waters until I was done with my steak. He also forgot to place my appetizer order. When it was time to pay the waiter did not answer my questions about the bill. He charged me for appetizers but didnot bring them out until we were paying. He said he forgot and so he just packed them in a doggy bag. When I refused to pay for the apps he walked away and said it's a matter of opinion. I will never go back. Horrible service hands down
If I want bad service I will go to a buffet not a steak house
Food was decent and prices fair. Environment was good and front staff very friendly. The problem in our dining experience was our waiter completely neglected our table after we ordered our food. Kitchen delivered our food and he wasn’t seen again. Not to check on food, drinks, bring the check, etc. Had other tables just seemed to be avoiding ours. Finally got up to ask for check so we could leave! Poor service
This is the only restaurant that is physically attached to the Wyndham Bayside, which give it some advantage (the other very close by options are a very expensive steakhouse and a deli). We ate there twice during our stay and were very pleased both times. Generous half-racks of ribs, decent steak, good range of sides, and excellent taps. Service was good -- slight downgrade (I'd give 4.5 stars) for noise and a bit chilly (there's outside as well as inside seating and you can end up in a draft from the opening doors. We didn't try their breakfast so I can't speak to that part of the restaurant service.
Service was slow even though it wasn't busy at all.
Food was good, nice view.
The location is amazing. Right across the street from the San Diego Bay and Star of India. Excellent food and value. Not fancy, just wonderful. Enjoyed it very much!
After being seated it took about 5 minutes for someone to come take our drink order, then our appetizer came with our food and the meat was not cooked how it was ordered. The portions were very small ( not like they usually are), I had to flag down another waiter twice for refills and the side of onions and mushrooms that were ordered and did not come with my dinner. It was a very disappointing experience and not what I expect when I visit Claim Jumper!
Headed out on cruise
Fantastic!! Server was the best!! Wish I could remember his name!
The food was cold. Had to ask 3 times for silver ware. Table was not set.
We were there for dinner Christmas evening, actually we were there the entire week. And since the weather was not intolerable it didn't encourage getting out and about very much so we actually ate breakfasts and dinners at C/J since we were staying at the Wyndham. The staff is superb and go out of their way to accommodate. The food is excellent and served in well presented comfort food style, little frilly but use most of the plate for food rather than looking good, which by the way they don't skimp on. Only disappointment I can have and not really a complaint, they have a very limited menu on Christmas day. The menu goes from a simple bow tie pasta plate to a $35 steak in 5 seconds or less with not a lot in between, but as I said can't be a complaint if you are expecting it and besides since this was our second Christmas in San Diego and our "second" Christmas dinner at C/J would be pretty hypocritical to complain. Besides, good food, great service, nice atmosphere and if weather permits a large outdoor patio overlooking San Diego Bay, Star of India, the floating maritime museum of ships and cruise terminal.
The food was good and our waiter was superb. Parking wasn't easy or close by the restauarant but that's how it is in that area.
They asked if there are any special occasions when we made the reservation, and I gave them five special occasions occurring with our group of 10 people. No one recognized anything when we got there. I would compare this place to a less fancy version of the cheesecake factory.
Great memories...celebrated Thanksgiving with our soccer family.
We had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner. They were very busy but the food came out very fast. I would come to this place for thanksgiving dinner
We had to wait a bit for a table but it wasn’t bad considering it was a holiday. We were seated in a cozy banquet room off from the main restaurant and it was warm and quiet in there. Wait staff were phenomenal.
Polite and quick to get our requests met. Food was delicious and amount generous but not overwhelming.
We really enjoyed our meal and time spent at this restaurant and oh did I forget to mention, the price was not outrageous either. We will definitely be back.
Service was slow. Appears our waiter also worked the bar. There was a Thanksgiving special listed on a table placard, but the waiter lied and stated it wasn’t available and wasn’t even available on their computer. Manager confirmed it was available, so waiter just wanted to up sell to the more expensive meal. The food we received was fair. We saw tables that came came in and were served after our party of 5 receive their checks long before us. We finally got up and headed to the front to force getting our check and found out waiter behind the bar.
Finally we received our checks, but it was all messed up. It took 3 attempts to finally get our checks settled, but found the waiter took liberty to add an unauthorized tip. Also we noted that the sales tax varied on each of our checks. 9.9%, 7.1% and 9.8%. When one of our party members returned the next day to contest the tip, the manager refused to correct the problem. Stay away from this shady place!
Great location with sidewalk view of the Embarcadero. Food was tasty, better than expected. Service was average, dining room too noisy for my taste. Overall a good value.
The place was very busy because of Veterans Day celebrations and made it harder to the staff to expedite sitting and getting orders but overall they did a good job and we enjoyed our food and the staff are helpful.
We made reservations and were taken to our seats right away. So far so good. Took a while to get our drinks after ordering. Placed our order and it went downhill from there. Two tables were seated and had begun their meal and we were still waiting for ours. One table actually was paying for their meal and we still had not been served. After we voiced our displeasure the meal came within 5 min. but it was not hot. They did take off a portion of the bill but it was the idea of waiting so long and then wolfing down our food because you see we had to drive all the way back to Anaheim. Missed picking up my dog at Petsmart hotel so that was an extra expense to have her boarded overnight.
It's always nice to have a meal down by the bay especially in San Diego. Beautiful views from the outdoor patio. Service was outstanding but food was just okay. My chicken fried steak was way over cooked. I would have sent it back but it was late and we just wanted to get home from a long day.
Slow service. Mediocre food at best. Couldn't get refills of even water. Realized we were never given bread either after sitting for at least 15 before a waiter showed up. Would never go back!
The waiter lacked customer service skills. Very poor communication skills. Items were removed from our table without being asked if we had finished with our meal. When asked as to why he removed the food from the table, the waiter was bothered by it.
We came to San Diego for the weekend for my son's 23rd birthday. In our area we no longer have Claim Jumper's so we were super excited to eat here again. The view is nice. The service was ok. We sat inside. There was a strange musty smell to the dining room. My meal was DELICIOUS. I ordered the grilled shrimp and chose asparagus and rice pilaf as my sides. It was great. Unfortunately, my husband ordered a pot pie. The crust looked amazing. But once he got past that, it turned into a gray bowl of mush. Very unappetizing looking. I believe there were mushrooms in it, we are hoping that was what the little black things were. My son ordered the porterhouse. He is a meat person. Loves meat. The filet was tough. The strip was tough. He said it tasted more like a T-Bone than a Porterhouse. Parking is not great. We parked in the hotel parking in the back. Kind of a walk. A bit confusing.
First, they are on Landry’s web site as participating, but when there, they say they are not. Food was mediocre at best. Service not good for a near empty restaurant. Never go back.
