Great brunch with live DJ. Ordered the bubbles by saying it in Italian 3x fast (great deal) and really loved the burrata and prosciutto dish. Frittatas are more like egg tacos vs a traditional frittata - different, but good.
We ordered cocktails, appetizers and mains. The appetizer came before cocktails. It was tasteless and cold inside. We were about to tell the waitress, when the main course came, followed by the cocktails. The shrimp and pasta was so heavily peppered, it was inedible. The pork shank and polenta was bland. The only good was that they took off the appetizer and pasta off the bill
Ciao! I’m sorry you had such a terrible experience! I remember your table well as I know my manager Luigi had stopped by to offer our apologies. It’s clear that we did not meet your expectations and I am very sorry! Please send me an email at email@example.com m with all of the details so we can learn from our mistakes. We’re a family business trying our best to navigate these challenging times and I appreciate your patronage and feedback! Grazie Mille! Zachary, General Manager
We were very impressed with the decor. Love the openness of the restaurant. Food and service were the best. Filled up on the Antipasto Calabria. Will try the Pasta dishes next time.. Music a little too loud but thatsa my opinion. Definitely will go back and recommend to friends and family. Liked the validated parking.
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was incredible! The service was great and the food was incredible.
Thank you so much for your kind words and choosing to celebrate with us! We are looking forward to the next time! Ciao! -Zachary, General Manager
Civico is a gem! Enjoyed a scrumptious pizza and a great bottle of wine. Our server was wonderful as well. Will definitely visit again in the near future!
Went for Sunday brunch and they did not disappoint! Great cocktails and excellent food options. Breakfast pizza was perfect to share.
Food was delicious and service delightful for Sunday brunch. Def recommend!!
Great venue however the food was Salty and service was very poor
Best vegan options I've ever had! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was average. Calamari was salty-over seasoned. My meal was good. My husbands was bland. The wine pour was that of a wine pairing not full poor. With many Italian restaurants in the area, the ambiance is where it’s able to compete-only.
The food was good, the service at the location wasn’t up to par with the Little Italy location.
Service was great, the atmosphere was good. Open space, great design, lots of light. The food was average. Nothing special. Probably good for happy hour.
brunch is delicious; servers are great as is the space...music waaay to loud. Why??
First time at Cívico and found it surprisingly good!
Great food, good value and good service.
Awesome spot! Really delicious vegan menu and a nice staff! We mentioned it was our anniversary in the booking and they surprised us with two glasses of champagne!
Raw shrimp, flavorless food, weak drinks, and loud music. Not enjoyable
Great food and service!
I loved everything about this place! The ambiance was wonderful and the food phenomenal! Oh and that pesto and rice mozzarella! Wow! 🤩 As a vegan it’s great to have such an expansive menu and share an upscale meal that caters to herbivores and carnivores alike. That vegan charcuterie board is the perfect appetizer to get your meat eater friends to expand their palate for plant based deliciousness. Looking forward to our next dinner date!
We’ve eaten at the little Italy location often and wanted to try the new location. We ordered from the vegan menu, one of the reasons we love Civico so much; we ordered the vegan caprese to start, then the carbonara and the papardelle with sausage and mushroom, finishing with the vegan cannoli. None of the food was good. Just nothing. The bread was below average, seemingly slightly stale, and the pesto was totally unremarkable. The oil in the pesto seemed very average indeed, and the flavor profile just left you wondering where the flavor went. The entrees arrived and my wife’s carbonara frankly tasted off. The flavor profile was totally unbalanced. I don’t know if the oil just was slightly rancid, or something else, but it wasn’t good - it was so bad we sent it back, which is very unusual for us and swapped it for the gnocchi, which, also wasn’t very good. I had the papardelle which was okay, but rather salty, as civico’s good in general can be. The pasta was kind of day-glow yellow, rather over bright. I get they’re going for the look of rich egg pasta, but it just was kinda scary looking. The sausage was fine, but that wasn’t made there. The sauce was okay, nothing to write home about. Then my wife’s gnocchi came out and it was just kind of an oily mushy mess. The dish was drowned in oil, and the pesto seemed to fit slightly better than with the bread, it was still pretty meh. The gnocchi themselves lacked flavor and were pretty basic. Desert arrived, I thought we had ordered two deserts, but the waiter seemed to only get that we wanted one, so we shared. No big deal really, but another miss. The cannoli was below average. The shell was dry and biscuit-like, the filling had a very graining texture, which is probably the coconut. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good either. Then the pistachio dusting on the end made an already kind of dry desert even drier. Definitely not worth the fairly hefty price tag. Won’t be going there again,
Great space. Lots of food options, but I wish they had a non vegan lasagna option. Also wish they had plastic lids for the cups for kids. Service could have been better. Ravioli was salty. Burrata appetizer was delicious as well as the drinks and cannoli. Overall, There are a ton of other delicious italian options around, not sure I’d go back anytime soon unless for happy hour or the like.
The staff was excellent and great service. Food was well prepared and very flavorful. Would have preferred sitting a bit further away from other diners. People didn't seem well spaced.
We had the restaurant week menu. Apps and desserts were great. Entrees were lackluster. Service was excellent.
The restaurant was understaffed which resulted in average service. My pasta dish was a disappointment. The fettuccine came clumped in a ball. They remade it but it was over salted the second time around. The only good experience was sitting at the bar. The bar staff was attentive and knowledgeable.
Great food, ambiance, and experience. I think they could have a bigger cocktail selection though!
Nice Italian restaurant in Bankers Hill with a modern feel. The food was good, not great. Ordered the pappardelle and it was very filling. Ordered the Civico Spritz drink and I was more impressed by the drink than the food. Dessert was a decent cannoli with some citrus cream. Our dessert order went forgotten for a bit so that’s why the service was just a tad bit disappointing. Otherwise it’s a nice option right across the street from Balboa Park that’s worth a try.
Ciao Ronnie! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment on OpenTable! I am most gracious for your feedback as this is how we can improve. I see that you felt the food was lackluster, I will speak with my chef and ensure our recipes are being properly executed. Lastly, the timing on your dessert is unacceptable. This is a problem that we have identified and I will be working to remedy it. Thank you for stopping in, and I really hope you try us again soon! -Zach, Manager
Anniversary diner. Our server was awesome. Young guy and new to this restaurant but did a great job. Food was good not great. Beer was great though! I had the amber one. Overall good experience. I can see this place poppin.....very cool vibe
I went there on Easter with my step dad. I heard Civio has a vegan menu. We decided to check it out. I tried almost everything. The ice cream dessert is their best dessert. Their lasagna was great. I really liked their vegan marghetia pizza. The restaurant was beautiful and trendy. The service was fantastic.
Tasty food. Attentive service and great people watching.
Disappointed. The spot is really cool, but not family friendly. There was a large party going on, music blaring, and the staff was completely overwhelmed serving the party to take care of regular tables. The food was pretty good, a lot of good ideas, but without fixing how they expedite service will suffer.
Lots of vegan/vegetarian items, solid drinks/wine selection. Would come again! Nice to be close enough to downtown but far enough from traffic and crowds!
Amazing food, super nice servers!
Perfect evening for a reunion with friends 10 years in the making! The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. I would definitely go back again when I visit home!
Great food beautiful ambience. Spotty service
The restaurant is located in a Nice area... Food was good. Also
we enjoyed the open feeling of the restaurant.
Food - great
Staff - polite but inattentive
Music - way too loud
Food is great, tables for four are way too small and uncomfortable.
Fantastic service and delicious food... Hostess was kind and efficient to accommodate our reservation for a larger party. Great customer service !
Thank you for stopping in! We try to accommodate everyone, even when we're busy. I really appreciate your patronage! Grazie Mille! -Zachary, Manager
Our food was really great. The waiter was wonderful. The table was perfect for us. I felt very safe - away from others and truly outside. It is a keeper for me.
Thank you so much for your review, Katherine! I'm glad that you enjoyed your experience with us and I'll share your feedback with our team! Grazie Mille! Zachary, Manager
Two out of three dishes were not remarkable. Vegan entree the exception but nothing remarkable. Caesar salads solid. Vegan tiramisu dessert was dry. Our waitress noticed and to her credit, took it off the bill and stated (without us saying anything), "sometimes it is dry." She stated she informed the kitchen staff. Disappointed as we selected the restaurant as they offered vegan options for one in our party. Maybe kitchen will even out as we emerge from COVID restrictions.
Buongiorno! Thank you for taking time to leave us some feedback! I'm very sorry that your experience was lackluster. We have identified an issue with our Vegan Tiramisu and our Chef is working on fixing that situation. I hope that you will give us another chance soon!! Grazie Mille! Zachary, Manager
