Civico by the Park
Civico by The Park brings our lively southern Italian service to our new location through the direction of owner Dario Gallo and general manager Antonella Valenti. At Civico by The Park, we offer the flavors of authentic Calabrian cuisine, created through surprising techniques and nuances by owner and Executive Chef Pietro Gallo.
Civico by The Park will offer full traditional and vegan menus with the addition of our pizza program in two styles: the Pinsa Romana and Calabrian Pizza!
Overseeing our bar program, beverage director Simona Bressi has developed an outstanding selection of Italian craft cocktails focusing on amaro and grappa—the perfect aperitivo or complement to your meal.

Good for about all except maybe kids. I didn’t see a kids menu. But they may have one. But this is an elegant place. Beautiful, good value and great food. We love it!!!
The service and atmosphere was incredible will defiantly be returning
Enjoyed a bottle of Pinot Grigio wine and eggplant appetizer
We had been to the restaurant when it opened the first time and never went back. The re-interpretation is great across the board from the service to the food. We are thrilled to have this in our neighborhood and I am encouraged that this version will be successful.
We love Civico little Italy and now Civico by the Park is our new favorite too. The patio was wonderful. The food was great. I just wish that they would add a vegan pizza to the menu. Can't wait for the indoor dining to open also.
Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was adequate but not excellent.
Great pizza! Highly recommend this restaurant! Good staff beautiful ambiance
We had dinner here. Due to COVID they only have outdoor dining which was fine. The patio was booked so we ate out front of the restaurant on the sidewalk. It was still very nice. Great food and Great service. If you go try to get the patio, its beautiful
Great Date Night restaurant
We have been to 1845, in Little Italy, many times and was excited to find out about this recent name change to make this location happen. While it maybe due to the times (Covid and all), but parking was a breeze, 1845's most daunting barrier. The setting of sidewalk dining we find to be very metropolitan and enjoyed. They have a beautiful patio area the purveyor showed us around as well. The place is very upscale and full of nice art from Italy. Truly a romantic place to go on date night. The service is very good, food is great. Decent value for a real wonderful experience. We will be back, probably next week!
Don’t recommend coming here. This used to be a wonderful restaurant called Il Dandy. The owners decided to go cheap and make it what it is now, Civico By The Park. Food is bland and not good. Service was lacking. Big failure on ownership on going for this cash grab style restaurant. To put in perspective the restaurant prior was ran by Michelin starred Chefs, and that is clearly no longer the case.
Gorgeous restaurant. The service was super the food was super and the whole bi
Such a cool vibe!! The appetizers were amazing, but I expected a little more from the entrees. Overall great experience☺️
Love having good food in walking distance of Balboa Park!!
We love the new Pinza pizza dough. Lite-bubbly and a great chew.
Gosh, our experience was really lovely and the menu so considered. We came upon this restaurant by accident online searching for vegan menus and were so surprised to find vegan cannoli!
This is definitely a place to take the whole family. It will please traditional Italian fans as well as vegetarians and vegans and honestly, this combination is so hard to find. The service was great and the staff are working really hard to make dining a safe experience for everyone.
Thank you, we will absolutely be back!
This is our first time at this civico location, we usually go to the one at India street. The new location is beautiful. My husband ordered fish, for what they charge, it was just an ok dish, really small portion of fish, will not make us go back. My daughter and I ordered the vegan lasagna, again not impressive. They gave us a free cannoli which was nice.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The drinks were great. I've never been totally on board with the food in either little Italy or now in my neighborhood but the ambiance and care of the staff makes up for it. The pricing was very fair. We'll be back a lot just because the place is in an ideal spot for us. Everybody has different tastes in food.
This was the perfect place to have dinner during the pandemic. There was plenty of outdoor seating but we still felt like we were part of the restaurant . Every part of our meal was amazing, service was outstanding. Closest thing to Italy .....
Great new restaurant!!!
Being in our 60 ‘s we ate getting hard of hearing and where we sat on fifth was perfect. You seem to cater to younger and older clients like us so thank you for that. I know you have music going for the street noise but it’s nice to have a meal where you can hear each other👍
I love this place and the food was simply amazing!
We were hoping for an experience similar to what we had with Il Dandy. Unfortunately, the food was just not the same quality. It was B + food, where as its predecessor Il Dandy was an A +. Apps and cocktails were very good. Entree's were okay taste wise. presentation was lacking. Service was good, not amazing like with Il Dandy. We gave them a little slack because they were operating under restrictions from the pandemic but overall don't need to go back again.
Great ambience and very nice waitstaff. The drinks were solid and the appetizers were nice too. It's a great place to take a date or to imbibe. The ravioli entree was disappointing, but it didn't completely take away from the meal.
Loved this place. The food and service were particularly excellent with a great wine recommendation. We will be back.
My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary at Civico in Little Italy. I was bummed out that it was fully booked. However my search reveled a new location. Civico on the Park open a few days ago. I booked a table on line 1 day in advance and was lucky that a 715 reservation was available.
The restaurant is super clean, classy, not too formal but not super casual. The food/menu is almost the same as Little Italy. The staff were super nice and arranged corner table in the patio, quiet and nice views for our mini celebration. Roberto, our server was friendly, gave us plenty of time to decide on wines and food. He helped us select a wine and kept it at a reasonable price even though I didn’t ask about price. When we ordered, the food came fairly quickly but not too quick. Great taste, hot (that was my only complaint about the Little Italy) location.
Little Italy was very busy and one of dishes was returned as it cooled down while waiting for my wife’s last year. They handled my complaint quickly and respectfully then, 2019, and I believe the staff at the new location would do the same. Problems happen and it’s how the restaurant addresses the issue that really matters.
Civico is one if only a few really good Vegan/vegetarian restaurants in San Diego. I love meat and my is a vegetarian which usually results in me eating well and my wife making do. Not at Civico. Great food for most diets. Really good.
It was a beautiful night in San Diego, with great food, wine, service and advice.
You can go to Civico for all types of occasions, I want to have a Holiday dinner party there this holiday season (covid not withstanding) and enjoy their food, drink, and service come the holidays.
Good luck with the new business situation Civico Team. While the shirt and mid term may be tough, an awesome restaurant like Civico cannot go out- they are just too damn good!
Thanks for a wonderful evening.
I love the interior design, the decor is so pretty. The food was excellent. I love that they gave us some bread and pesto sauce at the beginning.
Excellent evening dining outside on a pretty terrace. All the dishes had a special element and were very tasty.
Great food and perfect outside space for dining .
Food is always good! Bread, pasta, and drinks are amazing! Roberto our server is funny and great. I have dined here when it was IL dandy and dined in Arama twice. I am not a vegan but they have great choices for vegans.
We arrived on opening night and the COVID-19 precautions appeared in place , the server was attentive, and food was delicious and a good value. We particularly enjoyed the Calabrian Appetizer sampler and the stuffed zucchini flowers.
Love the menu and the outdoor seating. The new pinza (pizza-like) dish is amazing. Pasta with seafood was delicious however I think the calamari would be better if prepared like the calamari appetizer. Great owners and friendly staff. So happy to have them in our neighborhood!
The food was great but the service was superb! Roberto & Alexander were very attentive and had great suggestions. New favorite place in town!
My new favorite restaurant! There are great vegan and vegetarian options. The waiters were so nice - we felt like we were in Italy! Great food and ambience.
