Civetta Italian Kitchen + Bar
Over an hour before we were served our appetizer (to share), longer for meal. Don’t know why this was so, as I have dined here before. And they have to do something about the noise level. You cannot have a conversation with your companion and ears ringing when we left. Food is very good and the interior is very pretty and inviting.
For twenty years my favorite restaurant was a little Italian place up in NY. Civetta gave it a run for the money tonight. Simple but fantastic was the penne alla civetta and my wife had the snapper which was also phenomenal. I can’t claim a new favorite yet but will be back soon to confirm....
Knowing that Civatta was part of Urban Food Group we wanted to give it a try and we were not disappointed. It's a very cool and casual restaurant with plenty of choices for just about all tastes. The cocktails are interesting, the wines are very reasonably priced and the service was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and highly recommend giving it a try.
The bar area was nice, however the dining area lacked the ambience of the bar. Seating was a bit crowded. The food was OK. I had the Sicilian Lasagna. The favor was nothing special and got a little boring. The server was very attentive and seemed to care about our experience. For the money I’d just as soon as go to Brio.
Great new place in Stonecrest! We needed this place!!!!
Red snapper was Delicious - 2nd time there - same dish! Service is always great - Carrie is the BEST! Nice selection of wines and specialty drinks. Salads are very good as well. Nice atmosphere and good crowd. Lots of choices when it comes to Italian but picky me loves this place! - enjoy!
A bit different from our last visit. Our chopped salad was fine. The meat flatbread was prepared differently than our last visit. Not a fan of this version, but still lots of meat. My chicken parm entree was considerably smaller than our last time here. Still tasted fine. Sadly we are becoming a bit disenchanted when we originally had such high hopes. Finally cocktails were very good.
Need to win back my wife.
Pleasantly surprised with this new Italian restaurant. Interior styling is well thought out and the food was better than expected. They still have improvements to make. Their By-the-glass wine list is poor, and the bread used for their Bruschetta was less than adequate. However the ingredients used for the bulk of their food is very good with very good flavor. I had their Snapper Picante. They served an excellent piece of fish over wonderfully prepared Gnocchi and sautéed tomatoes. The flavors blended well. They do need to improve their Beurre-blanc sauce as it was just slightly a miss. I think it lacked white wine. The place is good, and I will return soon. Hopefully they can tweak their misses and turn Civetta into a gem.
We enjoyed the great food and great service. This was our third time at Civetta and have not been disappointed with anything.
4th time there. Like this place a lot but need a few more menu items or nightly specials.
We’ve been to Civetta twice in the past two weeks (weekdays). The restaurant wasn't full by any means but both times the service was poor & both times we felt like it was a huge favor for us to be waited on. Drinks came quickly and were very good, but we seemed to be rationed one glass of water & had to ask for a second when we saw our server (about ¾ through our dinner). Note: Bread upcharge is $4.00. Charcuterie ($16) is a decent size & enough for 3 or 4 people... just ok: basic bleu cheese crumbles, a basic stone ground mustard condiment & fig pate accompanied with 2 other decent cheeses that the server could not identify & 3 meats along with a few slices of oven dried bread. The Prosciutto was sliced so thick that we could not bite or chew it. Unless they change the offering, do not order. The first visit we ordered the meatball appetizer & my husband liked them. The table next to us ordered the brussels sprouts, said they were delicious, & they certainly looked it. The first visit I ordered the salmon & my husband ordered the Chicken Parm. The Chicken Parm was done perfectly- a thick piece not like the flat pieces one might get in other places-it was juicy while not being soggy. The accompanying sauce had a deliciously deep flavor & the serving was plentiful enough to take a portion to-go. My salmon had so much cream sauce on it that it made the dish heavy and took away from the flavor-would not get again. The second go around my husband was going to order the Bolognese but they were out of pappardelle pasta (?!) so he ordered the Puttanesca. Puttanesca was average & the sauce too spicy (would not get again). I ordered Spaghetti Pomodoro with penne as I do not like spaghetti. I did ask if they had a thinner pasta like Capellini, but they did not. The penne came with just enough sauce to change the pasta color, so I asked for sauce on the side (the same time I asked for water). The sauce came in a small container & was not ample. We did not venture to try desert
Party of four. Ordered spaghetti with meatballs, chicken parm, gnocchi, and lasagna. Enjoyed everything except the tomato sauce. Maybe just an off night. Want to try them again.
Great service, food, drinks and ambience! Can’t wait to go back. Puttanesca was amazing. Gnocchi was fresh and perfectly seasoned.
Great location, great decor. Unfortunately, this is a one and done restaurant. They fail on service and food. Waited 5 min for a waiter and then another 10 min for our drinks. My wife ordered the eggplant parm and they were out of eggplant at 7:30pm on Saturday evening. They said the chef was substituting cauliflower which she tried but it was marginal at best. The side of pasta that came with it barely had any sauce. We asked for extra sauce which never came. I had the Puttanesca which was good. We won’t be headed back anytime soon.
I did not that we had a reservation for 3 weeks and we were walked past 3 empty booths on our way to be seated at a booth by the kitchen. It was hot , it was loud and it wasn’t relaxing because of all of the kitchen commotion.
They should be past the opening issues we had heard about
Our dinner took over 1 hour to be served - and then it was over 5 minutes before both couples were served (they brought 2 dishes, and not the others)
They were out of Lasagna by 6pm on a Saturday night - Really ?
They had no specials because they were still new
They had a cappucino/espresso machine, but they hadn't gotten it hooked up and working yet
With the long wait, no bread was served even though there was olive oil on the table
No one checked on us or updated us, except to try and sell us more wine
Food was just ok - nothing worth the poor service
The food was great. I was expecting more a "homemade" food with an authentic Italian flavor, but overall, I loved the food and the service. Hopefully they will add more to the menu and stick to teh traditional Italian style without a preocupation with the Northe American taste. Good Job!
Had lunch here and it was wonderful. Good food relaxing ambiance. Thought I’d try dinner as well. Seated in the bar area and it was so noisy between the loud music ( not live) and the patrons frivolity that I had to leave with a headache. Not the calm relaxing atmosphere I had hoped for. NY times Op Ed Said...”quiet dining is the new luxury.” I’m on the hunt for that after a stressful week.
Food was okay. Service marginal. Very noisy. Expensive for the lack of ambiance.
Well designed space. Food was excellent. Table had calamari app, lasagna, civetta pasta and snapper entrees. Top notch! Server Jaquan was professional and attentive but didnt rush the table. Will definitely be back.
Food was not hot and it was just ok
This was our second time to the restaurant. Our first time was with a large group and the food and service was excellent. This time we were seated at a booth in the bar and while the food was great again, the service was bad. We were seated and then proceeded to wait over 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. Then the waitress didn’t write down our order when we gave it, and about 10 minutes later came back to ask us again what we wanted. My wife told her perhaps she should write it down. A glass of wine my wife ordered was never delivered and I had to go ask the bartender if he received the order. It’s a good restaurant with a lot of potential but they need to tighten up on their service delivery to be consistently good.
First time at this restaurant. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will definitely come back again.
Menu is awesome, especially the Brussels sprouts appetizer. Decent wine selection. Aesthetically pleasing environment
My friends & I enjoyed our dinner at Civetta. I ordered the Caesars salad, without the fresh anchovies on top & really enjoyed it. My penne pasta alla civetta was very good~ it had lots of yummy sun-dried tomatoes in it. We ordered the cheesecake with fruit & it was so so.... probably wouldn’t order that again. Our server was attentive and checked on us throughout our meal. The ambience of the restaurant was nice however the acoustics made it difficult to talk to one another at the table. Overall we had a good experience and we will return to Civetta.
The service was novice and lower level. Food sequencing was wrong per our instructions and was sub par tasting at best.
As a Vivace patron I expected more
Our service was poor. The food was average. The pizza is cracker crust. The bar was mess and it took 20 mins to get a drink to a dining table.
Our group of 10 really enjoyed the food at Civetta. The noise level is a little high and it took a while to get our checks but the excellent food more than made up for those very small issues.
Food was outstanding. Garlic bread was our family’s best ever, bruschetta very good as well. Tomatoes were super fresh, ripe, and sweet. Meatballs on spaghetti were tender and tasty. Flatbread was good but not great. Cheesecake was “flabulous” i.e. full fat and delish.
It was perfect!! Our out of town friends really enjoyed it as well.
Did a magnificent job in all areas, food, service, attention to detail.
This was our first time at Civetta and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Our Sunday afternoon dinner was a celebration of our daughters birthday. Some key elements that made our dinner so enjoyable:
- the food was great. We ordered a variety of dishes (Marsala, Eggplant, Mussels), all were great!!!
- the service was excellent. Our server was attentive, informative and helpful. He handled all our requests without issue.
- they were accommodating. Our dinner was mid-afternoon on a Sunday and our party contained a toddler and twin newborns. The staff were very helpful in getting us situated. They also helped in getting food out quickly for our toddler, and providing bread for the babies to teeth on!!!
Overall a great experience and we are looking forward to our next “grown up” dinner!!!
We had a reservation for Saturday at 7pm. I asked the waiter for wine recommendations because the restaurant has pages of wine on the menu. When I asked the waiter, he told me he didn’t know anything about the wines which really shocked me because a restaurant that has 6 pages worth of a wine list should train their waiters with at least a few go to recommendations. I ordered the lasagna which I was told they ran out of....at 7pm on a Saturday. They were already out of an Italian restaurant staple such as lasagna at 7pm on a weekend night really confused me. Then I ordered the lobster risotto which later I was told was no longer on the menu and I can’t order it, even though it was still on the menu. Then I got the penne a la civetta which was overpriced for the quality. All in all, because this restaurant has the same owner as Vivace, I expectations were for high quality and I was a bit disappointed for sure.
Food was outstanding. Service was good. The price per bottle was a bit high. But over all not bad.
Food was good - pasta made on site. Server was friendly and responsive. A pleasant experience and we will return.
Everything was excellent! Everyone from the hostess to the server were very friendly. Our server did a great job. We loved the Bolognese and the chicken Parm. We will definitely dine here again!
Good to have a nice restaurant like Civetta in Stonecrest! This area really needed something like this. Great food, good service! We will be back. So convenient for Ballantyne!
I took my Family there for the first time. The kids meatballs were not good and the flatbed had sundried tomatoes which was strange for a margarita. The other food was okay. Our apatizer was the best part of the meal.
Our server was definitely inexperienced, but friendly and made a good effort. (I had to explain what a Campari and soda was when I made my drink order.)The food was of varying quality. The pasta that came with my meal was cold and the chicken parmigiana was burned on the edges. The flatbread we ordered was barely cooked -literally, the crust was soft and pale. As we were taking a member of our party out to eat we did not make a fuss. True Crafted pizza is right next door. Save yourself some money and go there. For 75% less money, you will have a well cooked meal.
