Excellent option in the city - nice atmosphere, great menu. The roast beef salad was incredible. Would recommend!

Convenient City location in an atmospheric cellar. Good food, good service and excellent value with two for one pricing on food after 5pm.

I picked this place as somewhere a bit random to go with my Mum for dinner, was expecting a city wine-bar type affair with dining. Maybe a little louder than a restaurant, but good natured. I was surprised when we went down the stairs to the underground bar to find it completely empty. The dining area was roped off. We were clearly the only booking that evening as we got a little booth, almost a private area with a table for 6 in it, and the undivided attention of the waitress. Maybe a half dozen others arrived for a drink, but that was it. No real atmosphere. The food was fairly average, with 50% off (thank you, toptable) it was OK value, but I'd have been annoyed paying full price. Beware the rhubarb crumble, it's jam with granola on top.

Annoying that wanted a table in the bar area however top table booked a table in the dining area. The owner said it was a common problem with Top Table bookings, however he very kindly made room for us within the bar area.

I had a nice lunch with a business contact. Everything was good but I think the menu could be a lot better. There are about 9 main dishes to choose from and about 5 of those are cold dishes, so if you want a hot dish there isn't much choice! The menu could be clearer on what dishes are hot / cold too.

This is the third time I've now been to the City Flogger and it still hasn't disappointed. It offers good food, in a nice atmosphere, with attentive service. The menu always has some new alternatives and offers a good choice.

I visited the City Flogger last week for a business lunch and requested a quiet table, which the venue was able to provide. Food was fantastic and the service prompt. The atmosphere generally is quite noisy, but not so much that it prevented my colleague and I from having a productive discussion.
