The food was not good. We had crab cakes that’s were decent; chicken & waffles (only chicken was decent); carne asada tacos had absolutely no flavor. Outside patio had a nice view for Houston considering Houston doesn’t have many scenic restaurants and that was the main reason for our visit.

They’re probably just working out the kinks since they’re pretty new, but the service was rough. We sat outside for about 20 minutes without anyone coming by. Before we sat down, I asked the hostess if we could sit at the open table in the shade instead of the one in direct sunlight, and she straight-up said “no.” Lol okay, fine. We sat at the table they gave us and waited. Watched every table around us get helped while we just sat there. Eventually I got up and ran into a server. I asked, “Excuse me, do you know who our server is?” and he snapped, “I am, but it’s literally my first day!!” then stormed off. We left after that. If it’s his first day, where’s management helping him out? The guy was literally running around like a chicken with its head cut off. The place is beautiful, but the customer service was just off…

Drinks took 30 minutes. We waited an hour for appetizers. They never came. We left. Beautiful place. They need to fix the kitchen, bar and wait staff. Plenty of people. Not sure what this issues are. Could be a great place some day. Just not now. Avoid being disappointed.

I had to wait about 20 minutes after being seated for a server to come to my table. I was waiting on 2 guests, but instead of even coming by, the servers just kept looking at me and walking past me. There was only one other table sat and everybody else was sat at the bar. Then I had to wait another 10 minutes just for a glass to drink water out of. By the time my 2 guests came, the staff redeemed themselves. It was a complete turnaround. It wasn’t until then that the server actually introduced himself and gave a full rundown of the restaurant. Even though it was shaky in the beginning, Lucid’s attentiveness and the delicious food saved the day.

Amazing experience at City Cellars! The food is delish and the service is wonderful! Avery, our server, was kind and attentive. The manager, Brandon, made sure we were well taken care of. We will be regulars at City Cellars!

Unfortunately, my experience here was pretty disappointing. A large portion of the menu was unavailable — I originally tried to order the sliders (not available), then the fettuccine (also not available). My friend wanted the filet mignon, but the owner came out and let us know they were out of that as well. They offered to substitute it with my strip steak order at a discount, which I appreciated. The calamari appetizer came out lukewarm, but after I sent it back, it was fine. However, my entrée — the braised rib — was extremely salty to the point that it was hard to enjoy. All in all, I spent over $200, and honestly, it did not feel worth it given the limited food options and the quality of what we were served. The highlight was the music and ambiance, which were both great — but the dining experience itself fell flat.

New restaurant working out the kinks. Really cool location. Kitchen is overwhelmed in timing the tickets. Half of our food was room temp and the other half was spot on. Flavor was very good, just wished it was warm. Wait staff struggled with the “order kiosks” and drinks showed up, at different times, after appetizers. Give the staff another couple of months and it will probably be a seamless experience.
