Always good and a good time. My county friend love this “city slicker” spot! Lol
It was wonderful the waitress Gorge was a good help.
Delightful and will return. It was an upscale quiet diner feel with good brunch drinks and a relaxed vibe. This is an easy choice that would work for any crowd/ palette.
City Cafe was fantastic as always! It is easily the place to be and be seen! It is reliably outstanding and a Mt. Vernon mainstay!
It’s a favorite place to go to when in Mt Vernon.
I’m hoping this was just an off night, as I’ve generally like City Cafe. But, start to finish the service was inconsistent, the server messed up the order and, when it came, the food was mediocre. They’ve earned another chance based on my past experiences, but another meal like this one and I’ll go elsewhere.
5 in our group so the round table was perfect. Delicious appetizers: dumplings and Brussel sprouts.
A perfect light dinner before the theater. Service was excellent and wine selection was interesting. I ordered a Cobb salad and it was the BEST I’ve ever had; the lettuce was crisp and delicious and the other ingredients were fresh and crisp. There was just enough dressing for the salad and it was served in a cold salad bowl which was lovely. A perfect salad. My husband enjoyed every bite of his favorite Baltimore Club.
Great food! Even when our server was a little off co-worker and the manager stepped up to make for a great evening!
The waiter seemed quite confused. He never offered a second cup of coffee. He needs to learn a little PR among the clientele.
Food is good, but the service is not so great. We were left standing at the hostess stand for 10 minutes waiting to claim our reservation. Ignored by the waitress for a solid 15 minutes before she came to our table. 2 of 3 drinks arrived in a decent amount of time, but the third was much longer. Again, food is very nice, but the service is really slap dash. Certainly don't go if you're in a rush, but if you're at your leisure, you can decide how much of being ignored you can tolerate.
It was a great place for a quiet Sunday brunch with my family!
Had a lovely brunch with friends. Service was friendly and quick. The chef know the way around a kitchen. Our experience has been that the hosts get hassled if it is busy, but there was none of that. Everyone was quite pleasant.
Never lets us done. Best food and wait staff always
We frequently have dinner at City Cafe before attending the BSO. We have always enjoyed the food and appreciated the good service. We will keep coming back.
Always a great experience! My first time going for dinner (every previous visit was brunch is which is also amazing). The fried green tomatoes were delicious & really enjoyed the spaghetti & crab balls. The bread pudding, SO good! Will continue coming back.
Love City Cafe. It has everything I love: great food, service, value and music!
I've gone to City Cafe since it opened over 20 years ago - since it was a lil coffee shop next to the gay bookstore. Recently, I got to take my lil queer family, on a beautiful Winter night - & it was all I remembered and much more. Thank you for being a safe, lovely place for so long - to many more years!
Great brunch today. Started with French Toast points -- yummy. My son's omelette was huge, and I got the Latin Hash which was terrific. Lots going on there. I had to bring some home! Service was great, and the place was busy but you didn't feel it.
Everyone at our table was very pleased with their meal selections. Excellent food!
Food was good but a little pricey. No kids menu really drove up the cost.
A truly lovely experience. Our entrees were delicious, service was top notch and the atmosphere was charming. Probably the most stylish restaurant in Baltimore City. Whatever they are doing, please PLEASE keep it up
(Wine list is superb).
Good food, good service. Been coming here for over ten years and I've never had a bad experience here.
Went with a large table and the service was very good. Food was nearly perfect couple steaks over couple under but for a 12 top that to me is expected. Been multiple times and with out a doubt this was the best time I have went. I will come back again. Recently recommended it to some friend to eat on a great Monday deal and they enjoyed as well.
All of our food was excellent. Service was great from the moment we walked in until we left. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We live in Philadelphia and make a special effort to dine at City Cafe whenever we come to Baltimore to attend a play at Baltimore Center Stage. Our favorites include the Baltimore Benedict, the fried oysters, and the Cafe’s unique avocado-Boursin-crab toast. Friendly professional staff.
First visit to Baltimore, first visit to City Cafe. The latter was fantastic; great food and service.
Always a great weekend brunch choice. Make reservations! George was great waiter! Food very good. Nice lively vibe.
excellent ravioli never fails only request would be for valet parking
Great place. Food and service always good.
I love City Cafe, and have been there multiple times. Most recently I took my mom there for her 65th birthday. I noted it in the comments when I made the reservation. Everything was perfect, except they do not come out with a lit dessert at the end of the meal. You are required to pay for a dessert which they can put a candle on. I have been to many, many mid-scale restaurants, and most of them offer a free birthday dessert. I would think that after spending that much money that wouldn't be too much to ask.
First time here, dinner before a show at the Meyerhoff. City Cafe is located in a less than upscale but not frightening area of Baltimore. Parking can be an issue. The restaurant itself is very attractive and comfortable inside. Greeting was warm and welcoming, seated immediately. Service was very professional. Food was very good. Cream of crab soup was loaded with crab, very flavorful and a substantial bowl, not a small cup. Fried oysters were excellent, lightly breaded, perfectly seasoned. Special sandwich of the day was a large well imagined Turkey club with stuffing and cranberry mayo. A different and well done riff on a old standby. If in Baltimore again, would certainly return.
Great food + great service = Great evening!
Dinner was so good, we went there for lunch the next day!
I was a very regular customer of City Cafe from the year they opened until about 2005. This is my first visit in quite some time. Same day reservation as we were going to the Lyric later. It was one of the best dining experiences any of us at the table has had recently. Highlights were; the cream of crab soup; oyster appetizer - that alone would be worth a return trip; brisket sandwich and Mediterranean salad. We will definitely be planning a return trip soon!
Although I rated this average, it is my go to place when I am heading to the theater or some other activity. The food is good, the portions plenty, and the atmosphere nice. I am never surprised or disappointed. I was unsettled with the waiter whom I had told we had to eat and leave, when I asked for the check, he said yes, then proceeded to take orders from three tables, and bring them drinks. I had to ask repeatedly. It was a shame, because this is the first time it happened, hopefully it won't happen again.
This is our 3rd time back (last time was probably 2 years ago) and found the food and quality and ambience still very high! We both enjoyed the Cream of Crab ($10) as our appetizers (caution, on the thicker side and very filling) and both ordered the Chicken Pot Pie for our entrees ($18). The puff pastry and pot pie was delicious for a cool fall evening! We finished by sharing a Bread Pudding ($8) which was also delicious. Our total bill with 2 glasses of Cab-Sav totalled $91 before gratuity. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We found free on street parking...we were here on a Wednesday night. and made our reservation through Open Table.
Food was great Service was excellent as well Tuna appetizer was fresh Waiter was great at giving recommendations
