This has always been a standout go to for my family for years. My daughter and I went and walked away a little
The food was great and the service was as well. The only bad thing is that there was left over lipstick on one of my friends’ glasses and no one sung happy birthday :(
I personally love their brunch menu, especially their GRAND MARNIER FRENCH TOAST! Do not find this to be overly sweet. If you have nut allergies this might not be a good option. The roasted nuts help add a kick of flavor, but also balance out the sweetness (in my opinion), so without it I don't think it'll be as tasty.
As usual, I had a great time at City Cafe. “Always a go to” place for me. The food and service were awesome!
Very pleasant staff, delicious light fare, gazpacho, roasted cauliflower, shrimp salad, Mediterranean salad. Especially appreciated the thoughtful waiter bringing two soup spoons without even being asked! Glad we were there before 7.......
Probably gets very noisy as the night progresses.
City cafe is always a good choice! Great food, great service and staff, and the sangria continues to be a treat we enjoy!
Food is always great!
We chose City Cafe because it was recommended online and we could make a reservation—an uncommon thing in charm city. A friend suggested the avocado toast—she LOVED it. So i ordered it and was underwhelmed by the HUGE piece of bread, underripe avocado that could not be spread, light dusting of crabmeat. My husband ordered an egg dish promised not to be spicy. He could hardly eat it for the heat it packed. One of our friends was unhappy with his bloody mary (don't know why) and sent it back. We were completely overwhelmed. Fortunately, we were with great company.
This is our second visit for Steak Night and both times the New York strip was overcooked. Twice in the dame night. My filet was supposed to be medium and got rare. When sent back it still came back as rare. There service was awful, long time to get out order, didn't bring steak knives unless asked. I used to love steak night, but no more.
Fantastic brunch! Great portions and delicious flavor combinations. We started with the fried green tomatoes with lump crab and had the fried chicken and biscuits and smoked salmon Benedict. Highly recommend!!
Great food, great service, fair prices, very nice and accommodating staff, very friendly and attentive manager, our only negative was the level of the noise (probably because of hard walls, ceilings, and floor). We really enjoyed the dining experience as did our friends. We will definitely go back. We highly recommend City Cafe.
it was a bit chilly but always a great place for a social or work lunch.
Great service and delicious food
Great weekend brunch with my friend. But note, they don't have slings for car seats, so we had to get a little creative for accommodating a baby.
Great spot for a first date. Excellent food at reasonable cost. Be sure to get a reservation and let them know what you’re celebrating, staff will accommodate your needs.
Relaxing atmosphere. First time I have had a Kir Royale with ice. Not a fan.
Everything we got was delicious - get the fried green tomatoes - and I've never had better service anywhere. Our waiter was perfectly attentive. We were all very impressed!
In Baltimore for a conference and five friends wanted a place for a relaxed dinner. City Cafe was recommended by a local friend and it was a great choice. First, and important to us, was that it was not too noisy! We were easily able to talk table wide without shouting.
The craft cocktails were great, nice wine list. We had various salads. If you add a protein, it's a generous amount. Very yummy.
The desserts were great, too. Amazing peach cobbler!
Service was attentive. It's a bit of a walk from Pratt Street but felt safe even at 9:30 pm. Enjoyed seeing part of Baltimore away from the touristy Inner Harbor area.
Highly recommended, so highly that I confess I went back the next night for the ahi poke bowl! Another winner.
Excellent dinner, fun and attentive service. Salmon pad thai was a standout.
First time here and on a Saturday I have never loved walking into a place as much as this one. I'll be back for brunch and dinner.
We sat outside. 9:00 on a Saturday. Reservation was necessary. Everything was awesome!
Perfect late dinner on a Friday after seeing the BSO. We sat outside because it was nice out and chilly indoors. I got the soft crab entree, it was delicately fried and not over-seasoned, really damn delish. My hubby got a roasted airline chick entree and he really enjoyed it.
It it been awhile since we had been to City Cafe, but from what we remembered we love the food! This time was no exception, we enjoyed our quick meal before going to a concert.
I had the Cheesesteak spring rolls and the brussel sprout appetizers. Both were delicious! I was expecting The Cheesesteak spring rolls to have the vegetables inside the roll, but they were spread underneath the rolls on the plate. they came with a spicy ketchup sauce which really complimented the spring rolls I would definitely get it again!
The brussel sprouts were very good too, they had the perfect amount of crunch. They came with a really good dipping sauce that you didn't necessarily need, but it was complimentary to the brussel sprouts.
The crab cake sandwich was just average, but appropriately priced.
When we came in, we were almost 30 minutes late for our reservation, but we were still seated right away. They were also very busy when we came in and service started off spotty, however we got our food quick but our drinks took a long time.
The food is tasty but I had better. My crabcake dinner looked more like crabball dinner. Crabcakes were small & overpriced. The staff was mediocre. Staff could've been more attentive.
Consistently good food and excellent service. Yesterday, I had the Ahi tuna Nicoise salad and it was as tasty as it was the first time I ate at City Cafe, some 8 years ago. A great place to meet up with old friends for a casual lunch. We were never rushed, nor were we ever ignored.
Great Sunday brunch. We had the gazpacho and fried green tomatoes to start and the chilaquiles and angry omelet for the main.
A beautiful place to have breakfast or brunch. We waited about 15 minutes to get a seat outside because it was a sunny day. The food was great and the service was very nice. We took our two daughters there as out of towners from Pittsburgh. Great, joint!
Ok restaurant for brunch. Huge menu with lots to choose from but was not impressed with food quality
The drinks were refreshing, I had the cucumber Martini; the food was cooked to order, I had the City burger; and the service was excellent, from the time I checked in to the time I checked out. I was a first timer. Would definitely go again.
Went with my elderly parents, husband and adult sons. Was a birthday brunch for my parents. We come to this restaurant a lot and it never disappoints. The food is always tasty, the service is great.
Our waiter was great, the food came out on time but the fried green tomatoes and crab meat wasn't good at all. The taste was bland and sauce was oily.
Fantastic avocado toast with big fresh lumps of crab. Excellent and friendly server.
A great place to have dinner, lunch or brunch. The drinks are excellent and the service is efficient and friendly. Highlights are Monday night half price on all bottles of wine and steak night.
We eat here frequently and have never been disappointed.
Dinner was pretty decent, decided to try the salmon pad thai, was not an overall fan of this dish. My boyfriend had the lamb burger and he loved it.
Sage and our server made us feel very welcome. We had a difficult mobility guest, and were given a great table. Everyone was happy with the meal, and had a great time. A+ .
My wife and I have dined at the City Café for many years. It was our "go to" restaurant. However, the food has been going downhill for quite a long time now. But, we had continued to go there in the hope that it would "turn-around". Unfortunately, it has not and we have given-up. We will no longer go there and we have began the search for our new "go to" restaurant.
What a shame!
My husband is allergic to capsaicin and very fussy and apprehensive, since so many meals out end in discomfort. Our waitress was immediately understanding and responsive, making clear recommendations. He settled on the bay scallops, and was extremely happy with them. He said they were perfectly cooked and delicious. He was a bit less enthusiastic about the pea risotto which he felt was overly salty, but he enjoyed that as well. I had the City Cafe burger, and thought it one of the best I’ve had. For dessert we shared a decaf latte, which was rich smooth and delicious. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and will look forward to returning.
City Cafe is a favorite of mine; I had the Moroccan Lamburger and it was perfect. I always get a good glass of wine with my meal and the glass of Rioja was perfect. The server was also perfect. I love this place.
Pleasant, open atmosphere and close to symphony hall, and the roasted brussel sprouts were interesting, but the salad and chicken were just OK.
I always love coming to the City Cafe (great food!), especially, when we're on the way to the BSO. Unfortunately, you can't reserve outdoor seating, so we were inside, where, unfortunately, it was too noisy with the music blaring, a common complaint for many restaurants in Baltimore.
