I always have a great meal, great service, and great drinks at City Cafe. Thank you to our server, Maria for making my late birthday dinner wonderful
We dine at City Cafe several times during a year. It's a great place to eat before or after a performance at the Meyerhoff or Lyric or a movie at the Charles. Food and service are consistently good. Prices are reasonable.
The perfect spot for an occasion or just a casual brunch - it’s my go-to bc no matter what you order it is delicious and the service is fantastic. Lots of food for the price, too.
One of the most consistent restaurants I have ever visited. Menu is always interesting and creative. And everything is delicious. My favorite is cream of crab soup. Just a perfect place. Love it!
Get place to grab brunch.
The food was tasty as always. When my side of bacon came, half of the order wasn't cooked well enough. After explaining to the waitress, her response was that I should have mentioned that I wanted it well done when I placed the order. My experience is that bacon should be cooked so that the fatty portions are not still greasy and under cooked. Anyway, she agreed to have the matter taken care of. When my order returned, the bacon was so overcooked that you could not eat it. I just gave up and did not complain further. I was very disappointed though.
We had a delicious dinner on Saturday night. I had fish tacos and my husband had scallops, both were cooked to perfection. Dinner was served quickly and our server was readily accessible. We always enjoy our meals at City Cafe and would highly recommend it.
Our server Marvin was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food and drinks were delicious as always, I'll definitely be back soon :)
Food was good consistent with previous visits but we were totally neglected by our server! Restaurant didn’t appear that busy but waited for an ice tea for 20 minutes after waiting 15 minutes for her initial visit to the table...then had to wait for the check for an additional 10 minutes... she was absent and not around.
Great place for lunch, fast service, good wait staff and low noise levels. Perfect for meetings
I originally asked for outside seating for me and my 3 guests. They sat us in the other bar area, and this was ok considering the temp outside was a bit warm. Our server Tim was social and friendly which is one of the reasons we keep coming back to City Cafe is we enjoy the servers and bartenders. Everyone is so friendly, and that helps the dining experience.
I had the chicken and biscuits that came with fried potatoes and a piece of pork belly. The pork belly was deep fried beyond being edible, but the chicken/eggs/potatoes made up for that.
guest #1 had steak/roast beef sandwich, he enjoyed and left satisfied.
guest #2 had a crab cake sandwich that seemed to be quite small on a large bun with large tomato slice and large piece of lettuce. He said the cake had no taste and he left hungry, for nearly $20 that is no bueno.
guest #3 had the oysters appetizer, and he enjoyed and all.
The room seemed buzzing with many customers, so I wouldn't recommend bringing young children here if the noise would bother them.
Drinks were great too.
Alexis was great as always. If you want exceptional service, ask for her. For the appetizer, we had the fried oysters and French toast bites, they came out hot, fresh, and delicious. For our entrees, my husband had the angry omelette and I had the steak and eggs...everything was cooked correctly and very tasty. I recommend City Café to anyone.
Went there for a working lunch. The service was OK, but I wouldn't order the house burger again.
Friendly service, excellent food! Crab cakes were delicious, as was the ravioli!
Great place to eat before going to the Lyric. Our server was awesome!! Highly enjoyable evening. Look forward to our next visit.
Always find something I am craving on the menu. Steak House Mondays are a huge hit with our fickle eaters. Ask for Joshua---handled six of us deftly.
Fish tacos were great- green tomatoes w crab outstanding- service friendly but not overly so
Had a really nice dinner and enjoyed the food. Good parking outside, didn’t know there was a lot across the street or we missed the sign. The hostess seemed like she had an attitude and was saying how late it was, we went with a reservation so I didn’t know that was an issue. Overall very happy with the food and service. Will be coming back .
Baltimore’s City Cafe! This place is always going to be fun. Lots of memory and it’s keeping up with what “cool” people 😁are listening these days.
The steak and frites wasn’t bad either.
Quiet, accommodated, lovely services and great food. Recommended.
The experience is always enjoyed. Ryan’s customer service is exceptional.
City Cafe is always a treat. Brunch is outstanding as they have a fantastic assortment of food and libations to get your day going. The Latin hash with carnitas, potatoes, and corn salsa is especially delicious!
The food was fantastic and our waiter was fabulous!!! We had a party of five and all of us including teen age girls absolutely loved their food. The shrimp app is to die for and so are the green fried tomatoes with crab. Wished we lived closer since we are from Boston.
Normally I love the food here but I ordered the fried chicken and biscuits and it was disappointingly mediocre. Two of us in a party of four ordered crabcakes and were happy.
Honestly best spot to eat in Mt Vernon. Great food, great staff and great crowd. Those Philly Steak rolls are the best in the US. Yum all around!
I really like this place. The food is fantastic, with a lot a varied choices on a relatively small menu. The drinks are great. The service was perfect. It has high ceilings in parts so it’s not the quietest place but not overly loud either. The cheesesteak egg rolls were an interesting appetizer and really delicious.
all but the asparagus was very good. client enjoyed scallops and ambiance.
Food here is always good. My only complaint was that the crispy chicken in the Cobb salad was almost all batter with very little chicken. Service was great. This place works well for a group.
Excellent meal!! Always good.
Always a great restaurant. Never disappointed in the entrees or the drinks. Wine selections are excellent
All foods delicious especially my blackened salmon bacon avocado lettuce tomato sandwich 😋
Good food but very noisy! Waiter was OK but started too aggressively & lapsed into indifferent.
The restaurant was easy to find, there was plenty of parking along the street and in the lot across from the entrance. The food was enjoyable and the portion sizes were relatively large. On the other hand, service was only mediocre. I understand since we had a larger party (9 guests), that tends to make things a little more hectic. However, the waitress didn't really provide much time for us to look over the menu; She instead made a series of recommendations, which at the time we appreciated as we had never dined there before, only to find out that the options she provided all had extra costs. For example, two guests ordered veggie burgers which apparently come with fries, she asked if Parmesan fries to go with the burger would be ok and they agreed without any disclosure that it would be an extra $4 charge. In addition, the restaurant did not seem terribly busy at the time of our visit so we were disappointed that it took several requests to our waitress to bring us ice water, soda, and/or a coffee refill. So although the food was decent, and we really enjoy supporting local places over chain restaurants, I won't be recommending this place, quite the opposite actually. I don't plan to come back.
Sat outside on a beautiful Saturday morning. Good place for a group for brunch. Food was good though I ordered the Latin hash and it was mostly potatoes. I had been looking forward to having their delicious chicken and waffles but they're not on the menu anymore.
We actually sat outside!!! Something I would normally never do. Our server Marvin made the experience amazing. The cream of crab was better than normal!!
Great food as usual
I conducted a job interview over lunch and it was the perfect spot. The food was awesome. My guest were not from the area but wanted to try the crab cakes. They were impressed with City Cafe and enjoyed the crab cakes.
We came here for Father’s Day because of the good reviews and varied menu. Service was great but the food was not. Two people got the pasta dish which wasn’t that great. The rice in the “Something vegan” dish was undercooked. The veggie burger only came with a non-vegan bun (I can overlook this but it would be nice to offer eggless and dairy free buns to appeal to more customers). I was very disappointed in the quality of the food and my restaurant choice for a special day.
Waiter could have check on us early on.. Another waitress was nearby very accommodating..I waited 20 minutes before that but overall everyone is pleasant and professional!
City Cafe gives you delicious foods, personable service all in a fun energetic environment. A favorite restaurant!
