Doesn't live up.
The beauty of Citron is amazing. Just lovely. But the Maitre D and hostess were snobby from the start and then gave us the grand tour which felt kind of salesy. The waiter was mediocre--could have been cleaned up a bit and certainly could have known the menu better. This day in age, even diners have vegan, vegetarian and GF options. Not Citron. When I asked if the chef offered any vegan options since none were on the menu, the waiter came back and said the portobello in beurre blanc was vegan. Well, beurre blanc is butter. Really, chef/waiter?? So I questioned the waiter, and he came back and said, "yep, it is vegan. Chef said so." So I ordered it against my better judgement (should have gotten a salad). What arrived was the dry portobello with quinoa and spinach--no sauce, no seasoning, no nothing. This was not the food that this calibre of restaurant should have -- a $28 entree for a tough mushroom. The bread was low class, too. No vegan desserts, either. All of the entrees were $28 and above with some being close to $50. No excuse. For a place that is so dressed up with a pretty view and lovely design, it was a huge disappointment and frankly they should know their audience better.

I went to citron with a few friends of mine and had a great time. Service was good, restaurant was nice, food was outstanding, and the staff was more than friendly. Without a doubt, I will be returning soon.

I celebrated my husband's birthday with friends and we had an AMAZING time. We felt welcomed from the very beginning and the customer service was IMPECCABLE. We had such a good time and we will definitely BE BACK!!!!

We love this restaurant every time we’re there — lamb chops and mussels are delicious. The food and service consistently is among the best in Baltimore. We highly recommend. Look forward to our next visit. This time we sat near fire, great spot. Also love their bourbons and desserts!

Took my fiancé there to meet a friend of mine. Her meal wasn’t cool - chef cooked two of mine. Chef went home immediately after cooking and wasn’t there to correct.

Fantastic experience! We were celebrating our anniversary and had a pergect time. The lambchops were the best I have ever had and the crab cake was divine! The service was impeccable! Thank you for a wonderful memory.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our Valentine's Day Dinner at Citron. We sat by the fireplace, were well served, and the lamb chops were delicious. I highly recommend Citron for a date night, special occasion, or a girl's night out on Thursday in the bar or patio listening to live music.

What an absolutely wonderful meal we had at this restaurant! The ambiance is lovely and the service was great. And the sea bass!!! I don't eat Chilean sea bass normally because its too oily but, my gosh, this cut and this preparation is absolutely outstanding. In short, we had a beautiful evening.

The food, service and ambience were all just about perfect. We enjoyed our evening enormously. The waiter did not rush us at all. Quite the opposite. I cannot imagine how the experience could have been better. I will be back for every special event or, indeed, when I wish to spend a delightful evening and wonderful food.

Food was NOT good. Not worth $260. Lobster bisque over salty and filet mignon OVERCOOKED ! Chocolate tarte was hard as a rock. Sorbet was the best part of dinner. Sad that these places can go by charging as much and serving less than average food !

Overall everything was excellent. Sea bass was outstanding. My wife had the scallops, which she loved. Service was great. It’s a bit pricey but still had a great experience. We’ll definitely go back

The owner was very interpersonal and welcoming. I was amazed to see him working the restaurant greeting guest, vs other places the owner is no where on site or even at the restaurant. Besides that the food and service was A+, atmosphere was A+ I even tipped 3x standard amount.

I love steak and I was told if I love ruth chris, hands down citron is the way to go! I will never recommend a friend. For fine dining the price was fine but not if the food is horrible.

I visited on Valentine's night. I was seated quickly and offered the coat check service. There is a valet for parking which I appreciated because it was a bitter cold night. The server was spectacular. There was a 4 course menu and I was amazed with the flavors. I am gluten free and with the exception of the crabcakes everything else could be made gluten-free. Luv'd that there was dessert that I could eat. At other restaurants I usually don't get dessert because there are no options. But Citrom offered decadent chocalate Icecream with chocolate chunks and raspberry flavor for me to savor. Put this restaurant on your "must experience" list!

(Valentines prix fixe) Food was cooked well but seasoned very bland. The lobster bisque was incredibly salty, to the point where it was difficult to enjoy. Service was good, ambiance was good, food was a let down.

Yes, I would recommend. In the past, I have enjoyed their food, but we went for Valentine's Day not realizing there was a pre-fixe menu. The food was rushed out and it was just okay. For the money that we paid, it should have been fantastic. Our fault for going out to dinner on Valentine's Day.

My experience was awesome from the time we pulled up in front of the restaurant until the time we left . The valet service was very professional and well mannered. The greeters were very kind and thoughtful. I put in the notes when making the reservation that I wanted a nice table for me and my wife because this was our first time and i wanted to make a good impression. They did just that. They sat us in the romantic part of the restaurant by the fireplace. Everything was perfect and the waiter we had was awesome as well. Oh and the food was good too lol! We will definitely be coming back.

When we arrived, the Maitre d/Owner/Manager asked for our name. After giving it he simply instructed the host to take us to our table. He didn't smile nor did he welcome us. The valet service, however, was the best! They were courteous, smiling and made us feel welcome. Once at the table, which was very small we asked if he could move one seat down (all seats were connected) to a table with an end "booth" it was called. The waiter said it didn't see why not and sat us there, but wanted to double check. Soon, the owner/Maitre d came rushing in to tell us that that seat was not available and pointed to a square table. He showed no signs of care or concern. We like sitting side by side, and after all it was Valentine's day. For the entire evening, the room was never crowded and no one sat at our requested seat nor one like it on the other side of the room. There wee no reserved signs on any of the tables. I later asked another manager how is one able to sit in a booth. His reply was; "How did you book your reservation?" After telling him, he informed us that the booth wasn't available because we booked with Open Table. Had we called directly, it would have been possible to make the request. I was insulted because no one sat there the entire evening and we were there for over three hours, leaving around 8:30 p.m. I was amazed at this response. Our price was the same $85 per person with 20% gratuity added and no menu choices other than the Prix Fixe (I inquired). I was also surprised that there were no table cloths, no candles, no flowers, etc. on the tables. Overall the food wasn't bad. The Lobster Bisque was a bit salty and my scallop entree was tasty but should have been hot instead of warm. The Shrimp Cocktail was excellent; I've had much better caesar salads (tasted my fiancee's). His Short Rib was very tender, but again warm, not hot. Enjoyed the Black Raspberry Ice Cream. The wine was acceptable. I would not make this my choice again.

Don't know if the food is good or not, because our Valentin's Day was spoiled by them, and we left and ate elsewhere. Since they had a special VD menu, which did not have any of the items that we'd planned on ordering, we called them specifically to enquire whether the regular menu would also be available. We were assured that it would be. When we were seated, they told us that in fact they were only offering the special menu, and that the kitchen was set up that night only for those dishes. Then they claimed on Open Table that we hadn't shown up for our reservation. That's two lies from their management, which tells me all I need to know about this establishment.

I went with my husband and two kids (3 and 6 years old). We enjoyed ourselves. I had a Stella Artois, my husband had a mixed tequila drink. Both were good. We started with the spare rib slider which my husband really enjoyed. The kids shared the chicken entree, and actually ate it, so huge thumbs up there. My husband had the prime rib entree, and he really enjoyed it. I had the mushroom gnocchi which was okay. I thought the gnocchi was a little tough and the overall dish a little salty, but otherwise fine. We finished off the meal with the ice cream and panna cotta. I really enjoyed the Graeter's ice cream - being from Cincinnati. I'm not a panna cotta person, so I could not give an accurate account of that.
Everyone was really nice. We actually enjoyed the music they played in the restaurant. I appreciated them taking our coats at the front desk - it is winter currently.

We had a great time at Citron. The wine list is one of the best in Baltimore. The mussels and white bean soup were delicious. Sean was a fantastic waiter.

Second time back this year and number three hopefully will be soon. Maybe the best steak in Baltimore. Perfectly cooked and delicious! Also the cream of crab soup is perfection!

We were greeted warmly at the front desk, our server (Lin) was gracious and attentive, and the food was excellent. White bean soup, chicken scallopine, and Belgian chocolate tart were standouts. The décor was lovely.

A stellar restaurant week offering. The chicken scallopini was delicious, the Atlantic char was cooked perfectly (after begging for a forkful). Tasty desserts topped off the great meal.

The restaurant is very nicely appointed. It looks and feels classy. Service was excellent. However, there were two things during our meal that prevents me from giving it a perfect rating. The first was that the bean soup that my wife and I had while very good was served luke warm not hot. The other was that the butternut squash risotto had no butternut squash to be seen anywhere nor any flavor from butternut squash. Moreover, in a good risotto the texture of the rice is creamy and smooth. This rice had none of those qualities. All the other dishes we and my friends had were perfectly done and delicious.

Crab soup and the veggie burger are both outstanding. As always Citron has the best wine list in Baltimore. The owner helped us pick out a perfect bottle to go with our meal. All around terrific meal.

Service was marginal - initially rushed and then couldn't get anyone's attention to order wine. There were lots of staff running around, just not paying attention. Maybe they really shouldn't be participating in Restaurant Week if it is such a burden on the staff. I definitely would not go back at regular prices.

I took my husband to dinner for his birthday on a Tuesday evening. It was our first time at Citron. The seating and decor is very nice. The wait staff was very friendly. The food was delicious as well as the drinks. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion as the prices are high.
