Cité was very nice. I took my wife there for a suprise anniversary dinner. I read alot of bad reviews and was a little scared that it would be terrible. The view was incredible! The food was excellent! The server (Simon) took a while to greet us at first. He was nIce but not as attentive as we think he should of been. My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Cité. I would recommend. We went on a Thursday and it wasn't busy. We might take friends or family on holiday or special day.
The view and ambiance at Cite was exceptional. Hard to beat a seat overlooking Chicago and Lake Michigan from the 70th floor. The food was also great especially the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection. My friend had the seared tuna which was also great. All in all a very nice evening!
While on the pricey side, it was well worth it for a special occasion. The food was excellent, the service was impeccable, and the view of the city was fantastic! We'll definitely be back.
Cite is on the 70th floor of Lake Point Tower in Chicago. It has a magnificent view of the city both up and down the Lake Michigan coast. The food was fantastic - we took the opportunity to try the Chef's Recommendations - a complete dinner listing. My wife and I took different entree and desert choices to allow us to more completely sample the fare and we loved everything. The service staff was excellent and attentive. It was an expensive evening but not excessively so. As such we will return again but mainly for special occasions.
Cite was everything I was hoping for. Beautiful views and great food. The service could not have been better. Truly a wonderful evening.
Good place to go on a special occasion for.
The view was stunning. Staff was very nice.
The food is far better than you would expect at a "view" restaurant. Some tables have spectacular views - and some look over the Lake, which is to say, at night they look over an expansive void. Banquette tables have garish lighting. The two-tops by the windows are nice, but we were offered one by the kitchen with a partial view, and then one by the main serving station, with no view. Bar tables have the best city view.
Fantastic view of the city , superb service, delicious food. A trifecta of fine dining!
I really liked the views but the service was terrible!
Overall the food was good, our waiter was excellent. This restaurant has probably one of the best views in the city as it sit on top of the Lake Point Towers. The only food mistakes that were made were that the lobster bisque was dissapointing as it was a bit watery/thin. My lobster mac and cheese although very good flavor, the pasta was unevely cooked w/more than one shell "stuck" together and some al dente and some not, that was pretty bad. If this "French" restaurant wants to improve they need to train their staff better, use trays when serving and taking away and not have their kitchen staff walking thru the dining area. Probably will not be going back other than for drinks at the bar.
We had the best experience at Cite. The Service was outstanding. Our annyversary dinner was even more especial with the view and romantic environment that Cite's provides.
I went with a group of six although it was more of a couples romantic setting. I'm an avid foodie and the Butter Poached Lobster was exquisite. That was ordered by half the table and the Filet Mignon was ordered by the other half, such a delight! Sides were ordered to share : Asparagus and Lobster Mac and Cheese. We were probably the loudest table in the restaurant due to intriguing conversation, it is definitely a great date night locale. There is a great view from every seat in the house. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Title says it all. You are paying & only going to enjoy the view
The food was good - we got truffled risotto and tuna tartare. Didn't go for any main courses - too expensive.
The service was so off course for a restaurant like this. We saw our waiter three times - One for introduction, two to bring us drinks and take our order, and three to give us our check.
My wine glass at empty for 25 minutes. He never once came to ask us if our food was OK. We got more service from the food runner and bus boy.
Hancock blows this place out of the water - Yeah - you get to see the view from the east side of the city which is rarely possible unless you're on the lake but eh. I've had better.
We had a great night, service was excellent!! This was our first time here and tryed escargot for the first time and loved it. The only bad part wad our view of the buildings fan. We were hoping for city view. We live in the suburbs and only come to the city once in awhile. I would go again, just ask for better view
What a wonderful night prior to Shakespeare Theater. Watching the sun set over the wonderful city of Chicago - 70 stories up with views of the Harbor, Museums and Lake Shore Drive - inspiring!. Food and service were outstanding.
Parking was pricing - but that was well worth the food and views.
Staff was very friendly, but if you've never been there, it is extremely difficult to find this place. We were told to take one set of elevators that lead us to 60 something floor but not the 70th. Then someone explained to us that we had to go all the way back down to another set of elevators. After we did that, we went up the 2nd time and even then we had to take a third set of elevators.....very annoying! Staff was indeed friendly - efficient as well (but that could have been due to them not being busy). Anyone thinking that there are some side dishes that would come with the meal would be wrong - one of our meat dishes did not have anything with it other than the meat - nothing else, no sides. Good overall! Worth the view!
The ambience was really impressive: excellent view of the city.
Tables all along the windows to maximize the view.
Food was very good though
i,ve eaten at tne 16 th floor of trump towers. 95 th of hancock. this view was the best. maybe because we saw a sunset. food was very very good. great for special occasions. only drawback was valet parking. no discount for cite! patrons. real bummer.
The only good thing about this restaurant is its great view of the city and lake.
The worst thing about it is their unfriendly staff. The food was greasy and the quality and taste was not what you expect from a classy restaurant. I have been in this restaurant twice, both because of its great view, but that is enough for me! Never come back here again!
Friendly staff, wonderful views, and delicious food!
It's an old-school establishment, and it shows. You can tell a good french place by the bread they serve, and Cite did not disappoint . . . everything was delicious and fresh and hot.
I have rarely in my several decades of eating in restaurants returned food. I had to return the steak, which I've never done before. Overcooked and tasteless! I had the lamb next, and it was pretty much the same....I did not finish it and walked to Navy Pier for a burger. Save yourself the time, money and hassle. The views are compelling, the restaurant itself is not.
I went to Cite for my birthday. The waiters were very nice and made good recommendations! The view was amazing.
I really enjoyed my visit.
Me and my boyfriend got a steak, lamb, potatoes, asparagus, and 2 glasses of wine for 160! The steak was dry, and only cooked med rare, I don't even know how that's possible. Everything else was just ok. For the prices the food left a lot to be desired. The view and the ambience was the best part, absolutely beautiful. The service was good, the most exceptional part was probably the hostess. I've been here twice and learned my lesson, I'll never be back for dinner, just wine dessert and the view, I'd get a way better dinner at Weber grill for half the price.
The service was good, our table was in the middle so it was a bit cramped. The food was good but not up to the price. I was expecting some unique dishes that would be fun to try but it was a more traditional fare. The wine list had some reasonably priced wines. With all the really great restaurants in Chicago, Cite is one of those places you can say you have been to but you don't need to go again.
The restaurant was what I thought it would be, scenic, romantic, & very upscale. However, my date & I did not come in the restaurant with a warm welcome. It seemed like we were not wanted in the restaurant, as the greeter was not very welcoming and the initial waiter was not into his job at all. The food we ordered was great, but only after my date & I took a guess as to how to read the menu & what to order. Overall the restaurant was good, but I would suggest the Signature Room as that was a better place than this.
Y Excellent spot for a nice romantic dinner or night out. Amazing staff & service, really made for a lovely meal.
The food is to pricey for what you actually get.
