We got surprised at the bill. They didnt tell us the lobster was 125 and it wasnt worth it.
The place is about "DIMITRI", and location "stunning ", the mashed potato insanely good.... guys elevate the place , so old fashioned.... the best of luck ♥️♥️♥️
Great views, good service. Prices are too high for what you get. Ordered an $80 bottle of wine and when I looked it up on the internet I found it was an $11 bottle. Normally restaurants mark up wine but this was more than I had ever seen.
I been to Cite a few times before and this by far is the worst . First to even take our order is a hour long. I ask for bread about 7 times to put on the table . I think they didn’t or even plan on putting any on the table . After we finally got our order taken it took and hour to even get the dinner . When we finally got it the entire order was incorrect. He took the already touched food during COVID back to the grill and put it on there and came back with it.
Last and final I told them my mom birthday was the celebration. Like every birthday I’ve been to there they give them a slice of desert or something. She just told my mom happy birthday. I recommend this place to so many people . I will never ever return and I suggest to anyone reading this . Not to mention it’s a 20$ fee per person to even get in the place with service this horrible
Small food selection. Rude customer service
Food was not good for the price.
Thank you! It was the best restaurant and service in Chicago!! I would love to visit again for sure! And the view is the best in Chicago as well!
Cite was good our service by Demetrio was great the only thing I didn’t like is this place is over hyped I don’t mind paying top dollar for food but at least make the portions match the price I assume you’re mainly paying for the view and not the food lol other than it’s an alright place to visit if you want to see a great view of the city.
My husband and I came to the Cite for my birthday/ anniversary. We were looking forward to a beautiful view of the Chicago Skyline to go with our dinning experience, but instead we got a view of the rooftop, bugs hanging off of the window and fog. I was very disappointed. I realized very quickly that excellent service and ambiance was based on how much money you spent. For the high prices that you are charged here, you would think that people would be treated better. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone or dine here ever again. This was supposed to be the highlight of our special day and it turned out to be the worst one.If I had known what my experience would have been like ahead of time, I would have cancelled my reservations and not came at all.
The food was good but we did not expect to cost me and wife more than $500,actually we paid $535 for just 2 of us, it was really too much, I will not recommend anyone to cover because of the cost of the dinner.
I ordered the romantic experience, the table set up with the roses looked great. The menu is small but the food is delicious. Watching the sun set and watching the city lights light up with my fiancé was beautiful. Will reserve a table again.
The view was spectacular - the right place to celebrate my wife's birthday. She was happy.
The food: (1) first course was very good - scallops, (2) loved the lobster bisque as it was decisions (3) lobster tail (my wife's dinner) and file mignon was great (my dinner). (4) desert was so-so. The chocolate case was not eatable and creme brûlée was mediocre.
About the service: we waited for our drink for 30 minutes - our waitress just disappeared (I think was serving a big party on the other side but did not mention anything, just disappeared). Thanks to Ernesto who agreed to serve us instead and we were ok after that. Our waitress came back after we finished the first course.
Everyone was so wonderful!
I was so excited to come to the “revolving restaurant”. IT DOES NOT REVOLVE. I don’t know if they call it that on purpose to trick people or if they really just are ignorant to the fact that half the people probably think they’re coming to a restaurant that actually rotates😂. Anyway, there’s more as to why I wasn’t a fan. They charge an entry fee of 20$ a person. I figured this was because the restaurant rotated and it’s a whole experience and that maybe it was just boujee like that. After finding out it didn’t revolve we were very confused as to why we had to pay an entry fee? Second was that they charge an automatic 20% gratuity on your bill (they tell you that too before you book it, it wasn’t a surprise or anything). I didn’t have that big of a problem with it until we ended up sitting there for a total of 2 hours because our waiter legitimately took 30 minutes to come back every time. We waited probably 20 minutes just for our bottle of wine…and we were pretty much the only people in the restaurant! He was a very nice and entertaining person, just not the best waitress. Third- this is not something they can help but I just want to share that there are only a few tables in Cité that are actually worth it. On 4 sides of the building there are like these things that jut out that are super distracting. The view is still gorgeous but it’s hard not to look at them. Because of this we asked to move tables (something I never do I’m very shy😂) and the windows by that table were COVERED IN SPIDERS (on the other side but still terrifying)!! Honestly, it’s what I get for asking to move, but I still was confused how they don’t have window washers at such a nice restaurant like this. Finally I just really had a problem with how expensive the food was for the quality. We got the salmon and it was pretty fishy, even the quinoa had no taste:(. Overall, the view was beautiful, but just go to the Hancock building, this is not worth the price
Terrible Staffing Food was on time but u guys charge way to much for little service.. The food was awesome I loved it.. U guys are slow & messy with staff get it together
It was our 1 year anniversary. Cite made an important day already, even more special. Evan is by far the best!!
The server Demetrius was amazing. The staff overall was attentive, courteous and very polite. The experience was simply amazing. The food was okay nothing that stood out. However overall amazing.
I was a breath-taking view. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The Drinks were delicious I ordered the Henny Ma which had Hennessy VSOP. For appetizer I had the lobster bisque soup and IT WAS BY FAR THE BEST SOUP I’ve had! For the main course I ordered the 14oz NY strip steak which was a little bland for my liking! Everything tasted more fresh than flavorful (besides the lobster bisque). For Dessert the waiter was ever so kind to provide us with a glass of Dom Perignon followed by some Creme Brûlée. There was also a photographer taking photos around the restaurant. Overall the ambiance was wonderful! I would go for the Drinks and appetizers
Reserved a date night for a Birthday dinner requested roses and chocolate covered strawberry’s paid for them prior to the date. Received a table on the inside wall. Still has a nice view. No strawberry’s at the table upon arrival. No happy Birthday sung no candle lit. But the party across from us got the Birthday singing and candle lit in the Dessert plate. Smh. Overall this was a first time she was ever taken out for dinner for her birthday. Smh. It was a pleasant evening her and I had but the restaurant dropped the ball on a few things. I will return for a night out and hopefully the staff gets their heads out their rearend and completes the requests. Waiter was a cool relaxed gentleman. It’s because of him I am willing to return for another evening out there.
Our server was very polite and the service was excellent! The view was cloudy but amazing !
Great food..excellent service.
Our waiter Blanca made delicious drinks, and was very attentive.
Ehh only thing good is the views wasn’t worth it . For the price one would expect top notch service which is just not the case here . Much better food for much cheaper elsewhere in the city
Didn't like it
Need to clean the windows. Big spiders hanging there
Great rooftop views of the city. Kinda disappointed the reservation cost didn’t go towards the bill but it was definitely worth it, all in all had a great time!
Our host was absent much of the dinner - for a white table cloth establishment, one would expect more of an effort to make the customer(s) feel welcome.
The food was pretty good, and the views from the tower are amazing; however, we really wish our waiter had taken more care of us.
Also, regarding cleanliness - the napkins were stained and the chairs were a bit dirty. One of our glasses had some food specks at the bottom, but our assistant waiter was able to remedy that particular issue quickly.
It was one of the most beautiful experiences I ever had in Chicago restaurant the environment, food, services everything was just amazing
Enjoyed everything about it
All the reviews were right, do not spend a dime on food/cocktails. If you do end up going, get a appetizer and look at the view.
To the lady that mentioned there are cobwebs and giant spiders outside of the window, she was 100% correct…
Would only recommend this place to see the view during the day, nothing else.
I just didnt like the service charge and service was a lil slow
Our waitress was so amazing and sweet! She had short hair and a tattoo on her neck and I’m describing her because I forgot her name! Anyways she was so good that I tipped her extra even though the restaurant did a service charge
The bananas foster was delectable but the surf and turf was mediocre at best because it wasn’t seasoned enough!
A Caucasian boy he took a photo of me and my boyfriend going to the restaurant and when asked why he said he didn’t take a photo but he did I seen the photo on his phone. Which made our experience very uncomfortable.
I felt like Cite is getting away with charging insane prices for an outdated ambiance and mediocre food just because of the views. Yes those are amazing but when you want to charge $50 for a plate of 8 chocolate covered strawberries, something isn’t quite right. There are several air conditioning units just sitting out on the floor next to tables, the upholstery is outdated and don’t get me started on the dire need of window washers.. I could barely see past the several seriously enormous spiders and thousands of flies/bugs stuck in the webs sitting at eye level five inches away from me while I’m trying to enjoy my food. Overall, I think this restaurant could be what it wants to be with a few improvements but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.
Awesome experience overall. The place seems a but outdated now. Should be modernized and updated to keep up with the times.
Evelyn was the best and the guy who also attended us as well! Such a great experience on our special wedding night!
The food was really dry and not seasoned at all the drinks where watered down had no taste and for the price that I paid it wasn’t worth it and I’ll never come back again 😡😡
It's a place with a great view of part of Downtown Chicago, but this costs $20 per person, just to get access (not applicable to the bill payable). This is not charged by any of the other roof top restaurants. The food is fine but at an excessive price, compared to other restaurants in Chicago of the same category. The same goes for the bar; pay $20 for a shot of Dewards White Label (that's worth the 750 ml bottle).
At the time of asking for the account the waiter tried to hook me by not showing me the breakdown in which they had already charged 20% tip. This is a very unprofessional action
Spent $200 for 4 JUST TO SIMPLY ENTER restaurant reservation + romantic rose petals and chocolate covered strawberries. Requested fireworks view which I was denied when we arrived. I had to request our rose petals I paid for, then later had to remind restaurant that I paid for strawberries too. Food was average.
Natalie the hostess was amazing! And the food and cleanliness of the restaurant was amazing
