Circe East Greenwich
The menu consists of American-infused, Mediterranean dishes and drinks that are "exotic and special."
It's amazing how a restaurant that can have two locations as great as the Providence location performs is as fair as the East Greenwich location performs. This was our second visit to this location and the experience was just okay. The servers were "very tired" from a busy Saturday night. Our main server disappeared when asked about the specials and another waiter appeared to share them with us. The food was good but there are better choices in East Greenwich for the same (or less) money.
Good menu, nice atmosphere and vibe, service so-so. Private party at the time we dined may have distracted them. Food was good but not outstanding, asparagus served with short ribs was way overcooked but not acknowledged when mentioned to waitstaff. Death by chocolate still semi frozen.
Frequently patronize the Providence location, but this was our first visit to EG.
Attempted to get the same aesthetic as Providence but that attempt leads to a rather noisy environment in what is a much larger space.
Food was good, but not equal to the original location. Had to send back one of our party’s very cold bacon-wrapped filet as well as another’s very cold French Fries, but the replacements were much better.
There seemed as if there might have been some sort of issue with our server that may have led to the issue...believe she may have been blindsided by a large party.
Would definitely go back though.
We had a delicious dinner with a great view! Kathleen was our server and was outstanding!
Tremendous service and fantastic food made this a great dinner!
First visit. Plan to return when I come back to the area.
We enjoyed a nice family meal ..... very comfortable, casual feel. All our meals were delicious! From the braised short rib, scallops, duck, mushroom bolognese to the wagyu burger(truffle Parmesan fries were awesome)! Will definitely visit again soon!
I've never posted a negative review, and consider this more of a warning. The whole experience was underwhelming and disappointing. Started with the breadbasket, seemed like a French baguette the bought at a supermarket and sliced. Speaking of supermarket bread, the bruschetta was awful - supermarket bread as the base and it wasn't even toasted, the worst appetizer I've ever had. Thank goodness we also order the truffle fries as an app, those were excellent, the best thing we had all night. I order Duck 2 ways, the breast was a touch overcooked, the leg confit was definitely overcooked, pleased on top bland mashed potatoes. My wife had short rib and it was unremarkable. Super glad we used a gift card and didn't pay with our own cash. There are some many other options in Rhode Island, let alone EG, I recommend you take the extra 5-7 minutes and drive to Main St and find a different restaurant.
This was our first time visiting Circe and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We both got the short rib entree and it was arguably the best thing we’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere and the entire experience was fantastic. 10/10 would highly recommend!
We had an excellent dinner and the decor is beautiful. The restaurant is two tiered with good sized bars in each area. The lower area looks over the golf course. The only drawback is it's a little noisy. My husband had the duck special which was outstanding and I had the short ribs...which were to die for! The menu is versatile so that if you don't want a big dinner you can get a variety of small plates and appetizer boards. Well worth a trip!
We loved the setting, especially looking out over the golf course. Perhaps they are understaffed? Our waitress's attention was rare--never asked if we enjoyed the food. The grilled swordfish was an interesting dish, but the swordfish was over cooked and tough. And, as the evening progressed, the noise level was too high for normal conversation and my wife and I usually enjoy talking to each other.
Really enjoyed dinner at Circe. Will be back!
We chose items from the restaurant week menu. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server did an awesome job and made some excellent recommendations. We ate in the area overlooking the golf course which was a little noisy but not overbearing. Definitely plan to go back.
We went for restaurant week and the options were great! Jimmy was a fantastic waiter!
Food and service were both excellent!!! Short rib over mushroom risotto is one of my favorite dishes . Restaurant week menu was great !! Creme brulee, outstanding!! Love Circe EG and Prov.
On this, our first visit to Circe, recommended since our move to EG, we expected what we'd seen online. As it happened, we were surprised at arrival to be informed [as Open Table had not] that only a bar menu was available for our lunch. And we were the ONLY diners there! Still, we had a fabulous view of the golf course, and the shrimp cocktail + pizza were excellent [best margarita pizza since NYC - cheese/oil/crust balance perfect]! And our waitress, Ashley, could not have been more welcoming or attentive. As new EG'rs, we know we'll return and look forward to bringing guests with us.
I was surprised at just how bad our experience was here. When we arrived, the hostess asked us to wait while our table was being readied. While waiting, another party of the same size was seated immediately. After more than 10 minutes, we were finally seated. The dining area was crowded and very noisy and we debated leaving, but decided to stay.
We placed our order for raw oysters, a cheese board, a caesar salad, and roasted brussel sprouts and a round of drinks. Even though the dishes should have bee relatively simple to prepare, it took almost one hour before any food arrived. The drinks took less time to reach our table, but were still slow to arrive. The oysters, cheeses and salad were actually very good. The brussel sprouts though, were roasted to death and bitter.
The bright spot in the experience was the waitress. She did her best to keep us informed and and apologized for the slow bar and kitchen. In the end though, I will not go back to this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone else. There are too many good restaurants in the area to waste your time and money on this one.
Fantastic selection of seafood & steaks! great flavors love the Lamb Chop Lollipops! bone-in Ribeye awesome. Great views when you sit overlooking the gold-course! Can't wait to have drinks out on the patio and watch the ducks!!
Great location and views along with an excellent meal.
Such a great experience! Food, service atmosphere was excellent! We loved it!
Service was poor waited around one hour for the food restaurant was not busy food was off very small portions no stuffed artichoke looked in kitchen and baseball hats were cooking no chefs
Excellent meal and service!
First time at Circe East Greenwich. Several meals at sister restaurant. Food was good to surprisingly good. Had the porterhouse and it was better than expected. It is a challenging space, formerly a golf club house and has some residual features that hold it back. I expect that the restaurant will continue to improve based on experience with the Providence location. Optimistic.
I specifically asked twice that my reservation be confirmed in the computer and I departed without getting that confirmation and an email from OpenTable saying that I never showed up. The food was only OK (considering the price that you pay) and the service was painfully slow. Our waiter was far from attentive as we watched our main course sitting in the window waiting to be picked up by him for over 10 minutes. In addition there was no bartender on staff so we were unable to order the cocktails we desired. As I mentioned previously the food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything to write home about either.
We had a wonderful Fathers Day at Circe. They were quite busy this holiday, but Olga, our server, was attentive and cheery. We had the deviled eggs (such a treat!), the meatballs (wow!) and the lamb lollipops (amazing!). The plates came out quickly and were cooked to perfection. The entrees came out perfectly cooked to our specifications and we all left sated and throughly stuffed.
Always a great meal here
The food and service were fabulous. Unfortunately the watersports on the wine glasses and silverware were a total turnoff when we first arrived. I felt I had made a mistake trying this new place out. Fortunately the drinks and food were outstanding. Need to get it to 💯 outstanding. 😁
Fish perfectly prepared; reasonable number of choices on menu. Tables far enough apart to have a good conversation without privacy concerns.
We had a wonderful lunch on the newly constructed patio overlooking the golf course. I highly recommend it.
The food was excellent. Our waiter James was great. We had the experience of the fire alarm being set off but he handled it very well. We had a delicious dessert on the house! We had a great dining experience. We’ll be back soon
The dishes are adequate. Service and ambience are quite good. It’s a nice place and I keep hoping the food will be better with each visit, but sadly it is not. I have now tried about seven dishes and while some were good, none were special, and some were poor. If you are eating there anyway I would recommend something simple like the burger or the short rib which are hard to mess up. Beet salad was cubes of Gouda and cubed canned beets. Bruschetta could be good with decent grilled or toasted bread, but wasn’t. Calamari was deep fried, boring, with a side of a mayo sauce. Bacon wrapped filet had badly uncooked bacon. Rigatoni bolognese was decent but very basic. Caprese salad had no dressing or garnish. Just store bought hard tomatoes and big slices of mozzarella. Not even a balsamic drizzle. It’s like they just place all the ingredients for each dish on the plate and think they are done. I will be sticking with better options for upscale dining such as Besos, Siena, Tate’s, Celestial Cafe, and even Meritage. May give Circe another try in a few months as they are still fairly new.
The restaurant is very nice. We sat in the lower dining area overlooking the golf course which also has a bar. The service was excellent. The food was great & hot. The cocktails were perfect. I didn't give an outstanding rating for the value as I thought the prices were too high especially being a la carte.
Very nicely done renovation, good reasonably priced menu. We had a really good waiter and enjoyed a pleasant evening overlooking the EG golf course. Will go back soon.
This restaurant has delicious food...love the vibe and the staff is always friendly...
The food was wonderful. The service lacked. Three served apps and I wAited and wAited. They forgot mine. Servers reached across table to serve main menu
We were optimistic for our evening dinner with friends after a recommendation.
It started out OK but our server kept disappearing, seemed like it was her first night so we tried to be patient.
The food was OK, might have liked it better if drinks were not at the bar making a scene.
They need to decide what kind of a place they are. Fine dining? Drinking after golf? Pub?
Not be going back....too loud and boisterous for 6:30 dinner.
Food was great. Waite staff was very attentive.
Always great food and service, waiters very knowledgeable about menu and cocktails.
Met with a potential business client, enjoyed the atmosphere, able to talk business not too noisy, food was very good, great service. very pleased, anxious to return. S'andra Advanced Carpet Care,
Commercial Carpet, Tile and Upholstery Cleaning Services.
Best restaurant I’ve been to in RI. Wait staff were outstanding and attentive. The food exquisite. The calamari was light and delicious, not chewy at all. I loved the beet dish with Gouda and wonderful balsamic pearls that popped in your mouth. Lamb chops were excellent, cooked to perfection, as well as the scallops, which were beautifully presented. Interesting cocktail choices - the Lychee Martini was refreshing and delightful. Circe has been a wonderful find....we will be back soon!
