Very good food; excellent service! Fun place to meet friends for a beer
I love this place. Their beer is fantastic and food is adventurous. I’ve had a few dishes I didn’t love, but others that were best in class. Plus the staff is great too.
I’ve been to Cinderlands a few times and have had the chicken bacon bacon ranch sandwich and diner burger ... so good! The pork rinds and Dutch egg are must tries!! I’ll be going back!
We had a party of four and really thought everything was great. I had the Arch & Dunn draft which was awesome. My wife the Uncle Ebenezer which I tried and it was very good. The food was excellent. I had Cheeseburger Egg Roll & Braised Pork Shoulder which was also really tasty. Little zing on the egg roll was nice. Others enjoyed their meals too, which included the 24 Hour Brisket & Chicken Nacho Sausage Sandwich. Highly recommended!
Everything was delicious, especially the tripleberry beer and chiccarones!
Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. Food was tasty and the menu, creative. Our server was helpful, friendly, and attentive. Decor was fun and attractive, but not too trendy or over the top. Menu offered a great selection of varying portions (small plates to shared to entrees), but choices weren’t overwhelming.
The atmosphere was very loud and we were sat upstairs by a fan that added to the noise. It would have been great if the upstairs was a little more closed off to help filter the sounds from below. They were a little heavy-handed with the salt in some dishes, but the portions were very generous. Lastly, the menu had very tiny print and was difficult to read. There also was no large print version offered. I’m sure I sound old with these comments, but they were significant enough for me to mention for our otherwise good experience. Would recommend.
Very underwhelmed by entire experience. Lack luster waitress who did not seem happy to be there nor very attentive to our table. Drinks took at least 15 minutes to arrive. One member in our party ordered an orange juice (went for brunch) which they told her they couldn’t offer because they were reserving for the alcoholic cocktails. Two people in our party ordered the vegetarian breakfast sandwich which was a cold fried egg smothered in a very large portion of a cold spicy sauce and topped with shredded, uncooked brussel sprouts. The sandwich was truly the worst breakfast I have ever ordered at a restaurant. Fried potatoes were good and different than others I’ve had elsewhere which I appreciated but unfortunately they didn’t make up for the rest of the experience. Would not go back .
Creative food, creative beer. Definitely make reservations. You'll love your experience. Go back often because the menu changes frequently! Loved it.
Service was good. The food (Alfredo, the pork sandwich, the fries in particular) was so salty it was almost unpleasant to eat. Otherwise the other food (Brussels sprouts, roasted pork plate! was good but not a place I would rave about.
We showed up at our reservation time, and were prompted seated. We had a larger group, so we were seated in the balcony. There was a restroom on the level with us along with another 6 top table. There was ample space for 9 at our table.
Service was good. Our server was attentive and helpful with menu questions
The beer was outstanding, and there was something for everyone at out table.
The food was above average and well portioned.
It was okay. I would go again for a beer or two but the food was just ok. My husband said his burger was good but the brisket I had was very disappointing. I didn’t even eat most of it. I think it was overpowered by the mustard or something. I’m not a picky eater so for me to say I didn’t like something is rare.
It was fabulous for our bachelorette group!!! We had a great time playing games!! And the food was AMAZING!
All the food we had here was really good. The burger, the chicken sandwich, the 24 hour brisket. Quite good. A really sweet spot too.
Menu is novel and enticing. In the very back room, the noise level is not as loud as in the front near the bar. However it is still difficult at times to hear companions at your table due to how close the tables are placed. Service was fantastic- server knew every detail of menu and she had extraordinary descriptions of beers! Parking in Lawrenceville is an increasing challenge but Cinderlands Foederhouse is well worth arriving early just to get parked so you can chow down!
Lively! Great food, fun atmosphere.! Chicken fried sweet potatoes were yummmy:)
This was our first time here, a night out for my birthday and it was wonderful. The food was AMAZING and the beer was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
This place gets better EVERY SINGLE WEEK! Yes, I am yelling. The food gets better, the atmosphere is popping right now and the beer is always superb. One of my favorite dishes, Brussels sprouts were changed up a bit, now with an Asian flare. We got several items and split them amongst the table.
Fun first time there. Good food and beer.
It is restaurant week here in Pitt and Cinderlands Foederhouse tops the list!
I noticed something last night that I had not really picked up before, the pervasive good moods everyone is in at this joint. Once it caught my attention, I started looking around and every single person that I could see was smiling, laughing, even dancing a bit (the music being streamed last night was really good!) Given how much negative energy is floating around the world right now, this place promotes and induces happiness. It is one of the reasons I can’t wait to get back.
Now, for the food! We picked a few different things from the restaurant week menu, Caesar salad, cheeseburger egg rolls, cauliflower fettuccine Alfredo, and the chicken nacho sausage sandwich. I really don’t know how Eric does it, but he continues to introduce new flavors to the world. All of it was absolutely stellar, but I have to say the sandwich topped the evening, that sausage was wicked good. We capped the evening off with a couple of delicious cookies and Cinderlands Gingerbread stout!
Great way to end a fairly stressful week!
Went during restaurant week because it’s a great opportunity to try out new places and sosoSO glad we did. We were sat up in the balcony area which was perfect. Everything was delicious. Tried several house brews and so much food. Two appetizers, two entrees, and a cookie. Everything really was incredible. Can’t wait to go back again soon
Wow
We live restaurant week because we can try places that we don’t know about or might not venture to otherwise
Our dinner here was a delight ....the cheeseburger eggs roll was a knockout as well
As rest of meal
We plan to be back
Ok, but Unless you live or work close to the neighborhood it's not worth the struggle to find a place to park. Beer's ok. Food's ok, but not that great. Fries and wings were the best things we had.
What a great vibe at Foederhouse last night! Placed was packed, music jumpin, food and beer extraordinary! Actually, I guess I can no longer call their food extraordinary since their perfection is just now ordinary for them.
We didn’t try anything new this time, had the Brussels sprouts and CBBR, delicious as ever. The care that Eric and Kelly put into the experience is second to none. Can’t wait to hit them at restaurant week this coming week. What Eric has planned is going to be spectacular.
The food was very good and service at both bar and table were excellent!!!!
Two beers and two sandwiches with fries was $55. The food was decent, but not outstanding (pulled pork sandwich and double burger). Very greasy and on the smaller side. Nice atmosphere but probably won't be back.
Excellent service, very welcoming. Interesting beer and food. Very happy with it all.
Always enjoy the food and beer. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves, it was very nice.
Our third time here and the food, beer and service never disappoint. Standouts this time were a pierogi appetizer and a grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup entree. Our waitress was awesome and we always enjoy Cinderlands’ beers. The Squish was especially yummy. Due to a kitchen error on one entree we received 3 fresh cookies as a courtesy that were also delicious. Not necessary but very nice touch! We will definitely be back.
Excellent brunch! Great ambiance and very tasty house beers.
The food was phenomenal and I love the whole feel of the place. However if you are seated at a table at the front, the walkway can become overcrowded with people mingling around the bar. People standing by our table were so clustered they were literally pressing up against our booth, which was not only incredibly uncomfortable for us but was clearly frustrating for the servers trying to wait on the booths by the bar and had to push themselves through the crowd. I am unsure if there is a real solution for this, as the walkway is so narrow and people tend to mingle around a bar; it's a very unfortunate consequence of the layout. That said, I would certainly love to return, but I'll probably request seating back from the bar at my next visit, even if I have to wait for it.
Tasty food and crafty brews in a semi-industrial space. We dined in the bright and airy back room, beholden only to ubiquitous televisions, slightly abrupt service, and outdated menus that made for a frustrating first round of ordering. But the plates were flavorful and generous once on the table. Reservations recommended!
Eric and Kelly run the best restaurant in Pittsburgh, maybe the country. I don’t think you can find a more passionate chef than Eric, he lives and breathes his culinary creations. The Brussels sprouts were off the chart, not sure how you make sprouts taste that good. Hands down, our favorite restaurant anywhere!
Easily my favorite restaurant of all time! We are there no less than every other week. We have even been there twice in one day.
I brought my boyfriend here because I saw they had some decent stuff on tap - was not expecting the food to be so good! We started with the chicharrones, which neither of us had ever had before. We cleaned the plate off! I got the turkey meatball sandwich for my main meal, and it was delicious! The tad of spice from the red pepper made it even better. My boyfriend got the pulled pork, and he loved it! He also cleaned his plate entirely off. Our waitress was very kind as well; I wish I remembered her name. Overall, we loved this place, and both want to go back to try out other items on the menu!
I go to Cinderlands probably every two weeks. Burger was outstanding as usual, beers great. The squash appetizer, I think a new addition to the menu, was quite bad.
The drinks are expensive. Food is yummy
Ambience is good
Waitress was friendly
a great meal every time! The fall pierogis were such a great dish
The food and service at Cinderlands is excellent! I have been there twice and had the Harissa Chicken and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The crispy potatoes that come with it are also incredible. The prices are also really good. The service we had both times was great with a very friendly and helpful waitress. I have eaten in much more expensive restaurants and have not has as good a meal as I had at Cinderlands and for so much cheaper. I did think the drinks were overpriced but they did have a good variety. We are not from Pittsburgh but will visit Cinderlands often when we do come into town.
The veggie omelet and potatoes were tops! I really enjoyed it
Perfect birthday dinner. Burger and pulled pork were incredible
