About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for business meals
  • Charming
Ciccino opened in November 2022 on the corner of California & Hyde Streets in Nob Hill.

The restaurant’s name Ciccino is Italian for ‘little piece of meat’. The name was given to Chef Gian Marco and his siblings in honor of his late father, Angelo Cosmi (the town’s local plumber), who would eat a steak ‘ciccia' sandwich for lunch. His father’s employees would admire his daily sandwich and he soon earned the name ‘Manga Ciccia’, Italian for ‘eat meat’. Gian Marco’s father passed in 2002 and still to this day, the Cosmi siblings are known as ‘Ciccino’.

Hints of copper and natural, industrial touches were intentional when Gian Marco’s wife, Lynsey Rose, designed the restaurant’s elevated and rustic interior.

This was our first time at this restaurant. Strange vibe when we walked in. There were all sorts of table but we were put in front of the bathroom door and the kitchen. There was a VERY strong cigarette odor that kept coming in from the kitchen. The table next to us also commented. We were told it might be coming from out side or their grill…this was DEFINITELY cigarette smoke. They kept offering water but said they ran out of sparkling water so they only had tap ( they are directly across the street from a grocery store… someone should have run over and grabbed a few bottles ) I ordered the Tartare ..it came with 2 TINY VERY VERY SALTY ( ps ..I love salt ) pieces of toast… I asked for more and they said they had to ask if that was possible ???… There is more but …4 of us were disappointed..no appetizers..no alcohol ..no desert …no coffee… and it was over 300.00… they have a nice corner location with big windows but they had bad curtains pulled closed on all the windows for some reason … not welcoming ..

From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, the service attentive without being intrusive, and the food… absolutely unforgettable. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—clearly crafted with care and creativity. You can feel the passion behind every detail, from the ingredients to the atmosphere. This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Can’t wait to return and share it with friends. Highly recommend!

We had a great dinner, salmon, pork and two pasta dishes. Limited kids options (they offered a pasta with butter & parm) but our older kids (13 and 7) enjoyed the adult options. Great service with a cozy neighborhood vibe and overall would definitely go back!

Our second trip there was disappointing. The noise level was again very annoying, the food was not exceptional and was very expensive, There are many restaurants where we would spend $170 for two people and be able to talk to each other during the meal

Visited this Italian gem last night with friends and couldn’t have been happier! The food was absolutely delicious—standout dish for me was the pappardelle lamb ragu, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole evening feel warm and welcoming. Already looking forward to our next visit!
