This has become our favorite Mexican food restaurant in Elk Grove!
Love this place. Great food, definitely not your typical Mexican menu.
The food is unique and fresh and excellent. Service was great! Absolutely going back as soon as I can!
It’s nice and clean. The staff is pleasant
Excellent food, some mistakes like the wrong wine but it was taken care, food delicious. For what it is now with covid everything was well organized and clean tables where well over 10ft apart great food.
If you want something better than Chevy’s, go to Cicada Cantina!!
Very nice staff. They remembered my husband and I from our previous visit.
Dinner to watch football game with.. Excellent as always !!
My wife and I decided to try a new Mexican restaurant in Elk Grove. Cicada Cantina is pretty good and we'll return again.
The food was excellent and the services was even better! I’ll definitely be coming back soon!
The food was very good and flavorful. The service was a little slow, but friendly.
Wait for taking order long, zero salt and very sparse on citrus in guacamole, Order a whole different guacamole then ordered ( waiter didn’t bother to write anything down) waiter didn’t give salt after asking had to ask another staff member, and cherry on top food made me and my mom sick.
Food was delicious. Chairs are uncomfortable especially with my somewhat broad bottom. Friendly server. Dog friendliness was appreciated.
Great food, drinks and friendly staff. I have already told several people that it is a must if you live in Elk Grove or the surrounding area.
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! Loved the roll up doors.
Great food and drinks at this Cantina style restaurant.
I first went a while back for dinner with my wife. It was awsome. Food was hot and fresh. Empanadas where out of this world. Our next venture was last sunday for brunch. It was a bit underwhelming. Empanadas where really greasy definitely did not have the fresh made taste as the first time. I has the cicada bennidect which came almost cold. Luke warm at best. Flavor was good. Patatos had the same problem. I will go back for a nother try. I strike it up as covid chaos. I hope thats what happened. It would be a shame for this place to let stabdards slip. Elk grove needs good eateries like this.
Food was good and chips and salsas are excellent. I also love the flavored ice teas.
Really good food and service. We ate outside in an enclosed patio area. They are doing every thing they can to keep everyone safe. I would go back again for sure!
What a shame....we were really looking forward to a good Mexican Restaurant in Elk Grove. The outside dining was not full or busy and they made a mistake on 2 of our 3 plates. Cocktails were NOT good, definitely need a more experienced bartender. I don't think we will go back, so my answer is no, I do not recommend their food. Ambiance was good, because we were out to enjoy ourselves and it was a beautiful evening.
Great food and service. I suggest everyone give this place a try. I can't wait until they open inside dinning.
Great experience with outside seating
Very good food and presentation. Server did a great job considering the outdoor circumstances.
I ordered the sampler plate, and was told they didn't have wings - although it was on the menu.
The food was excellent and they have a great outdoor seating area. Our server however, she might as well have not been wearing a mask because it was off of her nose and off of half of her mouth every time she came to the table. It was upsetting! She personally comes in close contact with everybody that she serves and she should be wearing a full face mask! The Excuse of it keeps falling down does not work! She should have a mask that fits properly!! I hope that this will be taken care of when we go back.
Great food, lots of options including vegetarian style. Great drinks. Excellent service. We love this place, great addition to Elk Grove that was sorely lacking in quality Mexican sit-down restaurants.
Because of state guidelines, we had to eat outside, which was fine with us. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was ok, a little pricey in my opinion. The drinks, however, were fantastic. Those were definitely worth the money. We will try them again to see if we have better luck with the food.
First and foremost, even their house margarita was good. Top Shelf Margarita was even better.
My husband's plate had to be sent back because it was barely warm, let alone hot. And the sauce on the enchilada and refried beans looked as though they'd been setting around too long. It was replaced with a fresh plate. It tasted OK.
My Mexican Paella was better but for the price I would have liked to see more shrimp and chicken rather than being over loaded with chorizo. Again, the dish was OK.
The waiters run their butts off as the place is busy and all seating is outside. They're doing the best they can. Everyone, please be kind to the staff. They earn every penny they make.
I will go back and try the Street Tacos and have another of the yummy margaritas! Maybe it was just a stressful night for the staff.
Even with reservations it took a long time to be seated. Took forever for someone to come and give us drinks and take our order. Good food bit on the pricey side.
Service was slow, and it took an inordinately long amount of time to get our cocktails. Food was good overall but not outstanding. Pork loin was overcooked and tough.
Seated with reservation. Food and service excellent. Recommended restaurant to friends and neighbors.
