The portions are smaller than you would expect, but I was satisfied. Both the food and the atmosphere was exceptional. Pasta made in-house is a mark of a great North End restaurant.
Overall, the service was very poor. The wait times were long and it took for ever for the order to be taken and then to receive a check at the end. There were not many staff per customer and the staff that were working were hard to get hold of. The food was very tasty but the drinks were overpriced. Not great.
Sat outside, amazing and beautiful location with great food
Beautiful outdoor dining, great view of the city. Parking was hard to find so I would leave extra time to try and find parking. Beautiful live music and the food was phenomenal. 10/10 would recommend
Great night out in Boston. Fantastic service and excellent food
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary by visiting Boston for the weekend. We ate here for dinner. Food was amazing and I would highly recommend the expresso martini! I was very disappointed as I specifically selected that we were celebrating a anniversary and it was not acknowledged in anyway.
Service was terrible. Server inattentive and uninformed.
Food was cold and unappetizing.
Long time friends
Couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Our server was so friendly and attentive. The outdoor seating in North Square is absolutely unbeatable...there is no other ambience quite like it anywhere else in the city. And of course the food was incredible--will be well worth a second trip to try the other dishes.
We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday and couldn’t be more happier with our choice to come here. We sat upstairs and absolutely loved everything about the ambiance and decor. Scott took care of us and honestly, made our dining experience so great that we’ll come back just to see him! And don’t forget to try his own amazing espresso martinis!
This was an amazing surprise on our trip to Boston, and ended up being the best dinner of our trip. We were able to make a reservation a few hours before our intended dinner time for the outside area, and I would highly recommend asking for outside seating. You are in a square just across from the Paul Revere house, and it truly reminded us of our time in Italy. Service was spectacular from beginning to end. I'm a huge fan of cacio de pepe, and it did not disappoint. My family also enjoyed the carbonara, ravioli, and chicken parmesan. If you are considering a meal here, do not question your decision!
Outdoor seating was very nice. The food was excellent.
The service was great and the food was very delicious.
This was our first time here. We sat outside which was very nice. The calamari was excellent! The best I’ve had in the US. The rigatoni with Sunday Ragu was very good. We also had the Cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe. That was good, but needed a pecorino Romano cheese on top. Overall the food was fantastic!
So yummy!! The decor was so cute and the pink accents were adorable. Loved the window seat we had and the brunch food was delicious. Great experience overall!
Just what I expected, delicious Italian food. In the summer, outdoor dining on the plaza is perfect. Indoor bar is very charming if you’re a party of 2. Very nice waitstaff and cocktail was also very good. They surprised me with a tiramisu and candle for my birthday. Perfect dinner experience!
Nothing special… pasta dishes really had not taste. But we had a nice night
Family in from out of state
Hidden gem of brunch in the North End! Beautiful outdoor dining and delicious food.
Excellent food and service. Will be returning soon!
Excellent service and delicious food nestled in historic North End!
Dined al fresco. Perfect!
Amazing evening. Amazing food. Service was a little slow but overall really good evening!
Awesome food and drink, beautiful outdoor seating, overall an amazing time!
Great service! Got the fusilli allá vodka could've been saucier
I really wanted to like this place. We were seated outside in North Square and it was lovely. When we looked at the menu, we were surprised that the wines and mixed drinks were very high priced in light of the reasonably priced food. The appetizers were amazing and we expected the entrees to match our now high expectations. My husband and I ordered the Sunday Ragu and unfortunately the rigatoni was under cooked, the meatball was burned, and the sausage in the dish was nonexistent. No one asked how our meals were and our half eaten dishes were removed without questioning why we left food or if we wanted take away containers. Very disappointed.
Amazing restaurant, great ambiance, food was fantastic. The ONLY thing was we felt rushed. It felt like they wanted us in and out of the restaurant and with us ordering a bottle of wine, apps, mains by the time we finished our meal the bill was being forced onto us. We were still drinking our bottle of wine and were hoping to order some espresso martinis but the bill got brought before we had a chance... OTHER than that the restaurant was amazing!!
One of our party told our server of their gluten allergy and they said they’d take the appropriate precautions. Unfortunately, the person still had a reaction to gluten in their meal.
Wonderful overall experience; the restaurant could refine the processes to make an even better experience for the guest and provide bigger portions.
Food was very average. More expected for location and price.
Great date spot. Pasta was a bit cold/not hot enough but besides that I would definitely go back. Great service, great ambiance.
Highly decent, authentic Italian cuisine in a dated but quasi romantic setting - think Moonstruck meets Main Street at CA Disneyland. Great service even though I don’t like when servers clear plates and drinks that still have food or a last drop in it without asking first and that happened a couple times. Having been a server in my 20’s, I always erred on the side of leaving dishes too long on the table, but in this case, taking them away before I’ve finished that last bite - I felt rushed. My reviews will always be a bit harsh because I am quite a strong cook myself so I could replicate most meals I eat at home and for that I often do nit find the value in paying $25 for a small bowl of pasta that I can make the same at home for $5. But don’t get me wrong, I go out to eat so I don’t HAVE TO cook at home and I truly appreciate when a restaurant/chef makes something I feel I couldn’t get anywhere else! All in all, Ciao Roma will not likely disappoint most diners who like fine authentic Italian cuisine.
Absolutely amazing! I was looking for somewhere to go on my Birthday that was more of an experience than just a plain old restaurant and this was the perfect place! We sat outside and it felt like we were in a little corner of Italy - from the architecture of the surrounding buildings and cobblestone streets, to the antique street lights and the most beautiful sunset, the ambience was so romantic. The outdoor dining area was great, it was in a little area with no thru traffic, plus our table was right in front of Paul Revere’s house! Our server, I believe his name was Scott, was very knowledgable and friendly. He recommended that I have the Spaghetti Al Limone and add chicken to it, which was absolutely incredible! They also gave me a complimentary tiramisu for my Birthday. Everything just felt so authentically Italian. There was also a glossary on the back of the menu which I found very helpful since the menu was mostly in Italian. We were also just a few steps away from Mike’s Pastry, which is a must when you’re in the North End! Overall I give it a 10/10!
Such a beautiful night in such a great location! The Court yard has such a European feel. If you can't go to Italy, vibe here!
The bartender was aggressive and raised her voice. Decided she didn’t like us from the beginning. After ONE cocktail decided we were drunk?? I’ve never been so embarrassed! I was with my aunts and sisters, we ask to split a bottle of wine between the five of us for dinner!! The manager/host Anna was also confrontational and wouldn’t hear us out. The average food isn’t worth the abuse!
Lovely outdoor seating!!! Great atmosphere!
we sat outside and it was lovely, but our waitress did not come and take our drink order until ~20min after we sat. she was pretty tough to track down the whole meal. the food was pretty good, but not the best I have had in the north end. Both my boyfriend and I had some stomach troubles when we got home- unsure if it was related but hard to rule out.
We felt like we were sitting in a piazza in Italy. Perfect ambiance, a fantastic server and the homemade pasta was excellent. We ordered 3 appetizers - braised artichokes, burrata and peas and a meat and cheese plate. I thought these were good but not outstanding like the pastas. Would definitely go back.
Excellent overall experience! Terrific wait staff and very good food.
The food and service was super good. The menu had a key/dictionary on the back to help those who didn't know Italian. The lighting was a little dim and the area was a little loud, but you could definitely still hear across the table. Parking around the area is also sparse, but other than that would highly recommend. :) Everything seemed freshly hand made!
