While excited to try this place, the experience was very sub-par. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty at the time of our arrival, it seemed as if there was a total breakdown in process in both the front + back of the house.
To start, I ordered a Scotch Egg, which was first brought to two different incorrect tables (placed down on one, where the guests had to call the staff over to take it away), before it was finally brought to me (not exactly a great process in this current COVID climate). Once it was delivered to me, I took one bite + found the pork to be raw/pink. Of course, this was sent back - the waitress promised to have another one out ASAP.
A guest at the table also ordered a cocktail at the start of the meal. Her cocktail didn’t arrive until the entrees did - mine and our other guest had his about 5 min after ordering (we finally had to re-request said drink).
Finally the main meals came out - one of the three was entirely incorrect (a shepherds pie was delivered, when the mushroom + lentil was ordered). This wasn’t discovered until our guest (who stays away from meat) took a bite of the pie. Not an exciting, or acceptable, surprise.
At this point, I was asked if I ever received the Scotch Egg, which I said no + requested they cancel the order. 5 min later, they came out with it nevertheless!
Overall, it was a truly disappointing experience. What could have been an enjoyable dinner on vacation was tarnished by both poor food and uncertain service/communication. We’re quite disappointed with our first impression of this establishment, but will give it another go when in Savannah again.
Good overall experience. Both times I've had dinner on Saturday evenings there was live music. The food was reasonably priced (for the most part). The food is excellent (I especially love the sausage rolls or bangers if you will). Nice relaxed environment with a little energy mixed in.
However I will say there were some small inconveniences that I don't believe reflects what happens regularly.
Nothing terrible. Really just small things keeping it a 4star review instead of 5. Overall good experience. Would still recommend but I believe there are some tweaks that would help in my opinion. Thank you!
The service was great and it was very covid friendly, people were spread out and everyone not eating had on masks. The only low point was parking because we had to circle around to find a spot but it was worth it. My mom and sister enjoyed their dinners which were the meatloaf and cottage pie. I did not enjoy my burger but overall it was still a good experience.
Good food with great atmosphere whichever level you are on.
Super good, our server was awesome too! She was in training but you couldn’t tell at all she was awesome! We got a cottage pie and crab cake sandwich
Overall experience was great. Great customer service & the food was delicious.
Our waitress took our order & then we never saw her again. I had to flag down another waitress to get our food, drink refills & check. We will not be back.
The guy playing guitar and singing was loud and terrible. Food was decent and service excellent, but the terrible musician made the overall experience awful.
The steak was very dry. My date left half on the plate. The potatoes were severely dry and overcooked. The Brussel sprouts were burnt. My pan seared flounder was too thin to be cooked so hard including the silver skin being the equivalent of a potato chip. She crap soup and black and tan onion rings were good. Drinks were good when they finally arrived
After watching British comedy shows, we thought it would be cool to have dinner at Churchill's. We could not have been more disappointed. Very slow and inattentive service. Water glasses not refilled, many menu items 86'd, wedge salad that was abysmal, filet that was well done instead of the medium we ordered, rowdy drunk college students at the next table dropping glasses, yelling f-bombs, with management not seeming to care, and finally having to wait too long to get our check for this dreadful dinner. We do not recommend! Savannah has so many better choices. We'll not make this mistake again. Go elsewhere!
We had our Valentine’s Day dinner here and it was awesome. Seated immediately in a cozy space. Food and wine were excellent. Service was quick and friendly. Will be back
I thought the Valentines Day special was a great value, however our drinks came out with our entree when we ordered them before our appetizer.
The food was amazing and so was the service. It was a little too loud for my taste but it was okay. It was a great valentine’s day dinner date!
Service was great. Food was good, the bacon wrapped scallops definitely had raw bacon whe they were served. Enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.
Went here for brunch and it was sooo good! I had the waffle breakfast board and wow it was delicious! The bacon wrapped scallops were very good too!
Service was great. Very little things, Just wish the mimosa was a little colder and wish I could pour my own.
I had a recommendation for Churchill’s. Unfortunately, the food was not edible. I ordered roast beef and a particular cut. The server later told me that all the roast beef was precut. It was so tough it was hard to cut. Another person with me order a strip steak medium temperature. The steak was burnt. The server asked why we were not eating our dinner. We told her it was not good. She explained there is a new manager and she has heard this from other customers.
First a trip was canceled for our carriage rude, so I had to move reservation up 2 hrs. There was no problem, then we arrived 45 minutes early, they accommodated us with no problem. The food came out fast and cooked well, Scottish eggs were awesome, my first try. The NY Strip was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the time with my date and she did also. Would recommend to anyone looking for a decent neal after a nice walk around the town.
Amazing brunch board!
We had oyster for appetizers. My husband had a meatloaf and i ordered the roastbeef paired with an ale. Food is good. Service of Malik is good. We will return.
Very pleasant server, menu had a nice variety and happy hour specials. I had the salmon and it was very good. It’s a bit noisy so keep that in mind on the purpose of your dining experience.
COVID compliant and menus are paper to minimize exposure.
We were visiting out of town from Florida and wanted to try the towns best burger and was told at the hotel to check this spot out. From the beginning the waitress was kind and friendly. The church hill burger was divine with their Parmesan fries and the Gouda cheese🤤🤤🤤 plus their home grown beer selection was pretty good..will go again next time I visit
Fish and chips was fabulous. Bartender was very friendly and helpful. That’s where the positives stop. The rest of the meal was mediocre and the drinks were over-priced. Too many other options nearby. Not likely to return.
The food was ok. The bright lights detract from an intimate evening. This appears to be more of a college or tourist drinking establishment rather than a nice place to have dinner. The hostess steered us away from the more relaxed and dimly lit dining room to a brightly lit room in the front. Had the feeling of a German beer hall, not a British pub named after Churchill. Nothing on the walls btw. Or well.
Not worth the visit. Waitress tried to be nice, but we were forgotten, the order was wrong and the place was empty...should have seem this as a clue.
We were very excited to eat at Churchills, but we were very disappointed that many of the menu items were not available on Sunday night. Three different items were not available (Large Pretzel, Wedge Salad, and toppings for caesar salad). The menu stated that the caesar salad included croutons, bacons, eggs, and chives. When I received the salad. It just have dressing and parmesan cheese. The server went back to the kitchen to get the toppings and came back about 10 minutes later that there were no eggs or chives available. She gave me a small bowl or bacon and croutons. This was very disappointing as two of the salads I wanted were not available as advertised on the menu. The server did her best to try to make for the lack availability, but it was not her fault.
The ambiance and food that we did receive was great, but we were very disappointed at the limited offerings.
It was a cold, rainy night and we were looking for comfort food so when I saw Churchill's on OT we decided to give it a try.
Service was very good and the decor made me think of an English Pub with high ceilings.
We both had the pies - Steak & Ale Pie and Chicken Pot Pie. They were both excellent and just what we were looking for on a cold, rainy evening.
Churchills is a great place. I ate dinner there two nights in a row. Both times were great.
The service was awesome..
The waitress was fun, she had the most interesting facts on the history of Savannah. The food was delicious and good sized portions. Price was very reasonable for the quality of the food and the portions. I will definitely go back!
We got a nice rooftop table on a first-come first-serve basis. We went with our 3 children and they had a good time. Service was good, servers take care of all tables. Prices are decent and the food was great. Good portions, great flavors. The Mac and cheese with bacon was delicious, as well as my seafood linguini and the fish and chips. Burgers were very good too. Good music, good space between tables. Heaters were not working on the rooftop and it was windy. Walking distance from the river and next to a public parking. Very accessible. Would definitely go back!
Service was great. Food was subpar.
Delicious! Had already scoped out the menu before visiting, so we knew what to expect. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese and crab cakes for an appetizer, both very food. Our family ordered shrimp and grits, fish and chips, chicken linguine (instead of the seafood that was listed in the menu), and the kids mac and cheese. They were all amazing. The only thing that wasn't as good was my husband's steak, which was cooked a little more than the requested medium. Service was fabulous, and we found the prices to be much better than many of the other similar restaurants. Would definitely dine there again when I return to Savannah!
We had a very good experience. Our waiter was attentive and the food excellent. Servings are quite large. Only minor issue was that they were out of a few things on the food and drink menu. We will be back!
Long wait for food which on arrival was poor.
The steak addition to salad was as tough as shoe leather.
Barman did know how to pour a pint of Smithwicks. It arrived with absolutely no head.
Loud dinners....Meal took 45 minutes to serve. Food ok but would not go back...as was just ok.
Waited over an hour for food! Ambiance is great, service was decent.
Had been at Churchill's the previous Christmas week and was eager to return. It was so good, that we ate there three times in our eight day stay. The fish and chips, meatloaf, and chicken pot pie were excellent. Amazing size portions of fabulous food. The chocolate cake/torte desert was to die for. The service was amazing. The server the first day, Christmas Eve, was so friendly and professional, and was especially good at explaining not just the menu items, but the amazing special drink (with bourbon and rosemary simple syrup). Our server both of the next two visits was equally professional, friendly and informative. These two gentlemen are keepers. Definitely plan on returning again next visit to Savannah. Great experience and well worth the prices.
Very nice authentic English pub place. Food was good, but fish and chips are not really English style, but that's ok.
Waitress was pretty weird, she did not give us utensils till we asked her, she gave kids colored paper but no any crayons because covid, its not her rule I understand it, but anyway, what kids have to do with activity paper without crayons?
Overall very nice place.
Great place to taste something different. Will return when back in Savannah.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and he’s a vegetarian, the menu had options for him. Our server was great with recommendations for us. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious!
