    Excited to go to a restaurant for the first time for Thanksgiving and having heard wonderful reviews from this restaurant, I was most excited to try Chira's; however, my husband and I were significantly disappointed. While the prime rib was tasty, the turkey was a little dry. I was in line behind a large party and scraped the bottom of the cheese tray options. When I got to the highly anticipated dessert, there was a tiny bit of Cool Whip left to spoon onto my pie, not even REAL whipped cream. For spending almost $50 per person, I was significantly disappointed. The rolls were very good as was the stuffing, but we were expected a more festive environment with decor and/or holiday music to usher in the season. Our server was wonderful and attentive, and my strawberry lemonade was delicious, a small compensation for the rest of the disappointment.

    We were seated immediately with our reservation. We had a party of 9. Food and drinks were outstanding. Service was amazing. The ambience is perfect for a date night. Our party enjoyed their time and left happy and full.

    I wish I could give five stars for everything but the service was lacking. We had a reservation for 7 and when we arrived they told us they were getting our table ready. After about 10 minutes they told us they were ready for us and took us to a table that had been empty the entire time we waited. Didn’t start off great. After being seated we waited awhile for the waitress to take our order. She was really nice but not attentive at all. We waited about 15 minutes for the straws she told us she would bring then had to flag someone else down. We were probably there at least 30 minutes before the complimentary bread was brought. The wait time for our food was kind of long but the food was amazing. There were some negative reviews regarding the service but I figured it was not a common issue. Maybe I’m wrong. I really wish I could give an amazing review because the food was so so good. But the service needs work.

    What a pleasant surprise. This was our first time eating at this restaurant. I took my son and his girlfriend there for their anniversary and everyone loved their food. The menu had a wonderful and varied array of foods that sounded delicious…and they were. We had the panko encrusted halibut which was succulent. The rib eye was flavorful and extremely generous sized…and I had the smaller of the two sizes! The onion rings were some of the best I’ve ever eaten and I’ve been eating onion rings for 60 years! All in all, A+ experience.

    We arrived late on a rainy Tuesday night and had the place to ourselves. The staff was top notch and made us feel at home. They could have closed up shop, but honored our reservation. The food and our drinks were great. Highly recommended.

    The service was terrific! The main meal was heavy on salt and the crème brûlée was represented well but the custard had no firmness to it at all. We were disappointed in it.

    Crab cakes were very small. Salmon was good. Crab ravioli's were oily. Creme brulee was not good at all. Very expensive. We will not be going back.

    Menu prices on website different than that was on menu in restaurant. Other than that, everything was excellent. Especially for a group of 14. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend to any group

    Got soup and the taste was great but it was lukewarm. Main dish was warm in parts, ranging from cold on top to warm on the bottom. Onion rings were cold. Flavors of the food were good, but probably delicious when warm. The service was none. We got an order and a check and that was it. No checking on us. No refills. The other staff member was attentive checking in a guest seated after us 3 times in her section.

    Bottom line my wife left crying. It was our anniversary. I chose this restaurant bc it showed 5 star. That....was NOT 5 star. From the time it took to get served, asking for the comp bread basket, over salted prime rib dinner, fighting to get the crab meat out of the shell until I had to "ask" for the correct utilsel, to the 2nd prime rib being over salted, to the spilled dipping sauce witnessed by 3 waitresses and having my wife and I clean it ourselves with our own napkins......just a horrible experience.

    Love Chira’s!!!! I think it’s my favorite in Salem. Had the angus filet broccoli with cheese sauce and it was Yummo!! As were the margaritas! Highly recommend this restaurant!

    Incredible sirloin steak, cooked to perfection. The best "smashed potatoes" I have ever had, and the asparagus was on spot. Will be going back.

    Our server was newish and wonderful. The bar didn’t have the wine we selected in stock, but the bartender offered an alternative wine (higher priced) for the same price and it was an excellent pick. Food was excellent. We’ll definitely be back. Plus we’re history buffs and the history of the Reed opera house (they are located inside) is a wonderful opportunity to wander around and see how the roaring twenties in Salem must have been.

    Great restaurant. Food delicious. Warm, homey, quaint dining room. Waitress wonderful. Unfortunately they were short one cook on Father’s Day. It was an emergency. But every staff person delightful. Just a bit slow. Highly recommend!

    Food was good. Was a little surprised when my husband ordered the “rack” of lamb and received 2 small lamb chops but he said they were good. Not really enough to constitute the price. Food was slow to come out but tasted good. Service needs improvement: We were never given bread and butter. Only some of the table was asked how they wanted their meat cooked. The waitress cleared my sons “side dish” food and fork from the table before he was done. When we informed her she laughed and told a story of how she took a 12 year olds fork previously and they refused to use the new one. No sorry I threw your food away that you were still eating she just brought another fork and proceeded to ask about dessert.
