Great food and service, as always. I wish that is was a little less noisy, but given the popularity of this restaurant, that may be hard to achieve.
Extremely slow service. Our "Lunch" ended up taking two hours because we couldn't get waiters/staff attention. We asked for the check but it never came and we had to pay standing on our way out.
Tasty and great service!
Extremely attentive staff and delicious food!
The tuna donburi is wonderful. Love the food. The Suspiro Limena is an experience!!
Service was excellent from beginning to end. I’m a vegetarian and they paid attention to that in my reservation and brought a menu labeled with all the food allergies and common requests on it.
Our food was so good - got the papas huancaina, cilantro dumplings, veggie noodles with an egg, a chicken stew, and a torts chocolate for dessert. One of the better meals I have had in awhile.
We will be going back.
Our Server, Joe, was 5 star. However the expediting of our food was not great. We did the tasting menu, and the food was shuffled out irregularly, at times getting 2 dishes at once with almost no explanation as to what we were getting.
The quality was excellent!
The Pisco Sour a bit sweeter than I am used to having, but great.
The desserts were amazing!
I was visiting daughter I DC, and when I am there in the future, I would go back!
Very much worth a visit. Come hungry, and leave enough room for dessert, although it’ll be difficult because the dim sum are so amazing.
I did the tasting menu and it was incredible. i’m glad i did because some of the dishes i might not have ordered on my own were actually my favorites! i want to try more of Jose Andres’ restaurants
Our waiter Domenic was amazing!!!!
Dim sum Tuesday was terrific.
It’s a fun experience but the cost is prohibitive for more than a special occasion. Also the meal would have been about 30% better if our waiter had shut up and left us alone. Dude couldn’t stop talking. I get explaining the menu but we said we needed a minute and he was back in a literal minute like “so have you guys decided what you want I just wanted to point out the cocktail list again let me go over that with you this one is really good can I get you one oh also we’re almost out of those short ribs we were talking about earlier and if you want those I should put that order in now or if you just want to stick with water that’s ok that’s our most popular beverage hahaha” oh my god dude. I know you’re hustling for tips and that’s admirable but... stop it.
Lived up to high expectations. Food was excellent. Subtle and nuanced.
It was our friend’s 10th wedding anniversary. The dishes and the Jose Andrés journey was amazing. All dishes were so wonderful and cocktails and mocktail was amazing. Will continue to come here and bring our foodie friends here as well.
Thank you for the journey’s of food.
Our visit was amazing! From cocktails and starters to dinner and dessert, everything was like a party in our mouths!
Service was well intentioned but weak. Ordered wine pairings with tasting menu, and consistently received the wine after the course dishes had been cleared. Disappointed that I bothered...
Make a reservation! Awesome place from atmosphere to service from appetizer to dessert. So fun, lively and you feel you are part of a global movement because of the ownership of the restaurant.
Great location and comfortable atmosphere. My only gripe regarding my Wild Shrimp w/Black Bean sauce was that the rice that came with the dish was not filled to the top. I wanted to ask the server to fill up the rice bowl but didn't and regret that decision because the Black Bean sauce was delicious and wish I had more rice to mix the sauce with.
Husband and I came to DC for our anniversary and I wanted to go somewhere special, but not your typical fancy steak dinner. We did the tasting menu and it was incredible. Every course was delicious, the portions were perfect — we were definitely full at the end! — and the service was phenomenal. Our server made us feel so welcome and took great care of us.
Not the most authentic Peruvian ceviche I’ve had...
Jose Andres is a brilliant chef and I have found his food in Los Angeles and here generally of the highest level. We were disappointed with the tasting menu at Chilcana and felt that it was a disappointing selection of Peruvian cuisine and its Asian influences. Peru has the world's greatest variety of greens and seafood and we got an overload of Yucca and dishes with so much soy that they were a caricature of Peru's best. WE will return and try to see if ordering individual dishes gives us more of Peru and less yucca.
The mixed drinks, it must be noted, were superb and creative.
Food really good but very small dishes. Expensive for what you ver.
The carretilla ceviche is outstaaaaanding. I need 2 cups of that tiger leche.
The yuca fries have the Japanese twist. The yuca is fried PERFECTLY.
If u r a chicha morada lover, and u know how it should taste like....this definitely brought me back to the past. I even googled maíz morado to make my own! Ahí de gallina is great w it's cheese, pecans, egg, and aceitunas. Growing up the accoutrements was an accessory we didn't add ... but for special occasions we would....the recipes here are from my gramma 's book.
I was very happy and impressed. I even got tears because I started thinking of my familia. I loved it here.
We had an incredible experience! We were early and sat at the bar first. Jopez was our bartender and set the tone for our evening there. He suggested incredible drinks based on what we typically like. He also made suggestions for our dinner. Everything he recommended was spectacular. He even made a visit to our table to follow up on how our evening was going. The staff was all super friendly and the food was out of this world. We will most DEFINITELY be returning!
this was a delicious experience! we tried a wide range of menu items and the server was outstanding in directing us about the ingredients and flavor profiles- definitely interested in returning to try more of this group's other restaurants!
Met sommelier and beverage chief honcho andy Myers on r&d chef bourbon who happened to be there. They picked out their favorites on the menu. We had a great time!
Waitress was either really busy or distracted. Didn’t feel she was interested in me but the food was outstanding and I’d return and tell others.
We had a great time!
I can't imagine spending Restaurant Week in DC anywhere else. Spent the weekend in DC and so happy it coincided with restaurant week. Portion size was very generous and as always, the presentation was perfect. Staff was attentive as ever. And oh those Pisco Sours ! ! I support Chef Andres whenever I'm in town.
Something delicious for everyone. So many wonderful flavor combinations. Even my 10 yo picky eater found something to enjoy. And the desserts were as visually appealing as they were yummy. We'll be back next time we're in DC.
Some friends and I went here for restaurant week and loved it! The food was fantastic and the macerados were amazing. Our waitress was helpful and attentive and they took the time to explain what was in each dish. Fabulous experience, can't wait to return!
Friendly service. Unique and interesting dishes, all delicious.
Loved this place. Creative menu and decor. Very laid back and easy going.... a good place to have a conversation with friends while dining.
Top notch meal - the $55 tasting menu is a great value.
Looking forward to our next visit!
I left China Chilcano feeling just fine. Nothing really hit it out of the park, or was very memorable. I was much more impressed with Oyamel.
The food was amazing. I am a vegetarian and had enough options, which I appreciated. The service was surprisingly slow, and the place busy this noisy. Other than that, great experience!
Went to celebrate a friend’s birthday during Restaurant Week and the meal was excellent. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The service was great. Will definitely go back.
