Chicago Prime Italian Ratings and Reviews
We went for our first time on Valentine’s day so it was crowded but we made reservations ahead of time which was a plus! I ordered the classic spaghetti & meatballs and my boyfriend got the gnocchi with crushed sausage that looked so good! We got the bruschetta for an appetizer and it was so tasty! Our waitress was phenomenal even with it being crowded she checked on us so often and she was doing great on the refilling the bread bowl ;)
I’ll definitely be coming back!
I was disappointed in my entrée of Veal Parmigiana as the cheese was burnt and tasted burnt. It removed the slightly sweet taste of the Veal that I enjoy so much. I will go back as I have heard from others that my meal was an anomaly. My wife's Cavatelli was perfectly prepared and delicious as were the appetizers and all the other courses.
Went for Valentines Day, and while it was busy, they did a good job of spacing the tables as to not make it fee over crowded.
Food and service were very good. Waiter was very attentive despite it being busy.
The only concern came when the check arrived. While martinis were clearly marked $12 on the menu, both were charged at $14 on the check. In addition, one of the meals was overcharged. They quickly corrected it when we pointed it out, and it made us wonder about their honesty. (They said the computer and menu weren’t aligned which means other people were probably being overcharged, too!)
We had a awesome server - Kelly. She was amazing! Food was good , atmosphere nice and excellent wine list.
After the dinner, When i had the person wrap up my left over salmon I was not happy when he took my dish and proceeded to place all the other plates on top of it. I thought he was going to throw it away but he placed it in a to go container after he put all the other dishes on top of it! Not a very safe way to handle left over food!
Would not go again, the waiter was not with it, forgot the shrimp add on my husband ordered, had to ask to have drinks refilled. Brought the plates for the appetizer after we started eating.
We had a salad to share and there was not a serving utensil to put the salad on our plates.
No dressing for the salad was offered, so we had to ask.
The potatoes were potatoe anna, I had like 15 on my plate and my husband had like 7 that was weird. Dessert was great, creme brulee.
Made a reservation here because it could accomodate our group size and because we were happy with Chicago Prime Steakhouse. Table wasn't ready when we arrived despite 2 confirmations. Service was slow and server wasn't good. It took such a long time for her to even offer a dessert menu or coffee after dinner that half our guests had to leave. It was embarassing that she finally placed a slice of cake down for us to sing to the guest of honor as half our table was standing getting ready to leave. Plenty of other good restaurants in the area...
Our first visit to Chicago Prime Italian. We had a 7:00 PM reservation which required just a 5 - 10 minute wait. We both ordered the Veal Marsala which was excellent! The veal was very tender and the sauce was tasty. The wedge salad was also very good with not too much dressing on it. The staff was very attentive and we enjoyed our special Valentine's Day dinner!
We went in for our Valentines day dinner and did their special....for the price we should of went somewhere else. Every course but the main course was delicious. Our food was unflavorful and very soggy. Would not recommend and will not be going back! Very romantic place and great service just slacking in the kitchen. Very disappointing...
Went for the special Valentine's Day price fixed dinner - we both ordered the Beef Wellington.
We moved our reservation up even earlier (from 6:15 to 5:30pm - THANK GOODNESS) - because we had to get to the hospital to visit a friend before 8 pm (we were late but still got in-whew!).
Slowest kitchen EVER - 1/2 hour to get a spinach artichoke dip, another 1/2 hour to get the salad, and then even with the manager getting involved, another 1/2 hour for the entrée...and a little wait for the dessert!! 2 1/2 hours pretty much...food was good - but that was excessive (normally we wouldn't have a time commitment -but this time we did). Wasn't the waitress or the manager having the problem..it clearly was an issue in the kitchen.
Everything about our meal was enjoyable. We had pastas, fish, crabcakes and salads. Each meal was excellent - my fish was overcooked slightly (as the special), but flavor wise was really good. Ambience and particularly management were exceptional - the room wasn't too loud, we sat near a fireplace and one of the owners was walking around to genuinely inquire about each patron's experience - a rarity these days. Menus selections had something for everyone but not overwhelming . . . and the wine list covered all the bases. We will be back for sure!
I’ve been to this restaurant many times. They have great food. Their staff is very friendly. I have a disability and they are very accommodating to you making space for my wheelchair and having the staff cut up my food, because I am unable to do it myself. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion, even if it’s just a night out.
Food is really good and our waitress was nice, but it was very loud. Partly due to loud, live music, and partly due to being seated near the kitchen doors. It was hard to carry on a conversation and there were only three of us.
I also had mentioned in the reservation that it was a birthday dinner and there was no acknowledgement of that. I saw several other tables celebrating that were acknowledged by the waitstaff, so that was a little disappointing.
I made a reservation for 7:30 for four people, and we had to wait for over an hour as people with out reservations were able to get seat in smaller parties of two or three. Extremely disappointing, we had friends in that traveled in from out of town, and were not compensated in any way , only thing we got was thank you for your wait. we couldn't even get to the bar area to have a drink.
The food is excellent and our waitress was terrific. Only two problems...
1. They had a DJ playing very loud music and providing vocals to the songs. Really a distraction. Hard to talk. Hopefully, they'll stop that.
2. They overbooked the reservations, so there was a log jam when we arrived. The wait wasn't too bad however.
If they can get their reservations fixed (I'm sure they can) and knock off the loud music the restaurant has great potential.
