Chez Zee Ratings and Reviews
Came here after UT graduation and had looked at the menu online so was pretty excited about the options. Was SO disappointed when we got there to find out it was brunch. Not what we wanted at all. But we made the best of it and all found something to order. The food was good. Service was pretty bad. Had to ask for empty water to be refilled, etc. After the fact I looked at the website to see if the brunch times were advertised. Only found it on their hours information. Anyway, it was fine, but would have preferred to know in advance about the menu.
I am sensitive to gluten and soy. I met a friend for lunch at Chez Zee on a cold day. The only things on the menu for gluten free diners were salads and pasta. I was so happy that our server offered me a hot gluten free special. It was grilled scallops and roasted beets on a bed of puréed parsnips, topped with arugula and a lemon vinaigrette. Sublime. I was also happy with my hot green tea. We had a great table and enjoyed our conversation. Wonderful food and service.
It was so great to have a reservation with Open Table! Makes everything so easy, especially during busy lunch times. We were greeted warmly and our waiter Diego made our lunch a real celebration by adding ribbon and a special sign saying Happy Birthday. Very festive!
All our food was wonderful especially the pecan crusted salmon. Diego was attentive and never rushed us at all. My friend loved her Birthday Celebration and I was so pleased with Chez Zee AGAIN! thank you so much.
We recently made a reservation here for six for brunch and it was an amazing experience. The food and service were great and there was a magician going from table to table doing really cool slight of hand. I had a perfect experience here and will come many times.
Food and drink menu was beyond expectations. Then the dessert menu came out and WOW. I didn't think the experience could get any better... But I was wrong. The best desserts and dessert drinks I've had in a long time. Excellent place to eat, drink and be merry. Highly recommend.
we had the pecan salmon on a bed of cooked spinach and the pecan chicken (served with rice and veggies). Both were really good. The salmon is cooked just right and has pecans sprinkled on top. The pecan chicken, on the other hand, was more like a fried chicken breast but the coating was pecan powder. Both were really delicious. We started with the corn shrimp bisque, which is a favorite. Highly recommend Chez Zee.
We have lived in this neighborhood since 1971; I can't tell you how many times we have been to Chez Zee for that "special" dinner or business lunch or late night snack. This visit was the worse I can remember - just about everything was off or out of sync. Took forever to order, drinks were late arriving (non-alcoholic), food delivery was messed up (ordered one bowl of soup and one cup of soup - got two cups and both were cold), one server gave us plates for artichoke pizza, another came by and took them away thinking we were finished with our meal and the pizza was cold and undercooked; server said she was get that fixed but apparantly forgot about her commitment to patrons. We declined desert. We did tip the server our usual 20% but right now Russell's Bistro, San Miguel and even Tito's Greek cafe are looking pretty good for our next night out.
Excellent place to celebrate my birthday. Pecan crusted salmon. Lemon Rosemary cake. Perfect birthday dinner. Noise level is very high in the front area. Recommend a table in the back area, quiet and more intimate. Seating was a little chaotic. Seemed understaffed for the traffic flow. We had reservations and still waited 15 minutes for a table. Waitress Rachel was fantastic, friendly and attentive. She was top notch.
Imagine Sunday Brunch at a fabulous french restaurant with NO WAITING (reservations accepted), heavenly Eggs Benedict and Mimosas, ordered from a menu (not some generic buffet). Just sit and enjoy the live piano music, the decor, the ambiance!
I would do this every Sunday if I could. We enjoyed it with our grown daughter. This a great way to get out and create memories together. Highly recommended!
I love eating at Che Zee with my girlfriends and doing any kind of celebration is awesome. They treat you very special and you def know it's a celebration. And don't get me started on the delicious desserts such as the Lemon Rosemary cake. One piece will feed two or three but you will want to eat the entire piece yourself! The waitstaff is also very attentive and Rebecca and Sarah have both been just excellent!
We ate salad so that we could eat dessert later. Dessert is our favorite part of the meal at Chez Zee. I especially like having a choice of gluten free meals and desserts. We were seated near the dessert case. It was nice to be able to choose our dessert in person. Our meals were spectacular.
This was my first time coming here and it was for my bday brunch. This place was awesome! Excellent service, great food, and lovely ambience. We each shared our food so we could sample a little bit of everything and everyone's food was delicious!! The migas were my fav!! I would definitely recommend coming here with friends, family, or even a nice romantic dinner!! It's definitely 5 star in my book!!
We loved the choices at Chez Zee. I hadn't been in a few years, but it was still as yummy as I remembered. The Mimosas were perfect! The one thing that could use some work was service. We had our drink order taken about 2-3 minutes after arrival, but our food order wasn't taken for a lot longer. We were there from 11-12:45. We chatted for about 20 minutes after our meal, but the rest was just bad timing on food orders and checks. So plan accordingly as service isn't the speediest! Overall, we'd definitely go back, it's a great place to meet friends, dine and chat.
When we went to lunch at 1:30 on Sunday we didn't not realize we were would be having brunch. They still have some lunch items (burgers and salads), but we ended up choosing breakfast food. The shrimp and grits was excellent! I only wish it had been a bit more spicy for a creole dish. My table mate's huevos rancheros were massive. Chez Zee has a good amount of vegetarian and gluten free items too. Our waiter was attentive and polite. Overall a great dining experience.
My daughter and I made reservations for Sunday, Oct. 18. We were running a bit late due to getting lost but still got a table right away. Our meal was fantastic and the atmosphere wonderful and fun! We have already recommended your place to my daughter's future in-laws, who have a lake home outside of Austin and come up frequently. It was eclectic (Keep Austin Weird!), fun, colorful and just an outstanding experience, great wait staff and food!
As We arrived on time for Our reservation, to celebrate Our daughter's 17th Birthday per Daughter's request.. noticed the greeter sounded happy, and prioritizing us to be guided for seating. We quickly noticed the table was detailed with simple ribbons and a sign saying "Happy 17th Birthday". Before food arrived, A magician sparkled with one of his tricks. We are amazed of how Chez Zee details made our Brunch daughter's birthday celebration, Super Awesome!
Parking was a pain, but the only notable blip in an otherwise great evening. We had the Hummus appetizer, Salmon and Tequila Lime Chicken entrees and a dessert sampler. Everything was delicious, interesting and creatively prepared. The dessert case is simply awesome. Save room. Service was efficient but unobtrusive. We will definitely go back.
