Food was great! Server could have been more attentive; i ran of soda and another server refilled it for me. Only saw our server to take the order and bring the check.
I ordered the chicken marinated in tequila lime sauce and hoped it wouldn't be dry. It wasn't! It was quite tasty and I will order it again. Our waiter was prompt on everything except our checks but he was busy.
I took my daughter to dinner to celebrate the purchase of her 1st home. The staff was great and posted a picture of my daughter in front of her new home "sold" sign on the table. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. Ambiance is quiet compared to most restaurants. We split a meal and they separated it into two dishes, which was great. The manager came over and told Erin congrats on her new home and we had their amazing Rosemary cake. This is definitely the place to go to celebrate any occasion.
We have always loved Chez Zee. The food and service are always good. However, we were disappointed when we went for brunch on Sunday and the piano music was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. To compound the situation, the speaker was of poor quality and made the music sound pretty bad. We had been telling my parents that Chez Zee was a good place to go because it's one of the few restaurants in Austin that is not too loud. We were disappointed and will not go back if the music continues to be this way.
Nothing was bad, but nothing was great. We had the eggs sardou and goat cheese/tomato omelet. The sauce on the sardou had no flavor, and the omelet's seasoning was inconsistent from one side to the other. I asked if any toast was available for the omelet since it wasn't on the menu and the waiter offered it. Once that was done he asked if we'd like any croissants for the table while we waited for our eggs.....hmmmm. We were served in about 10 minutes which we thought was very fast, but the other tables around us were served a little more leisurely. One usually likes to linger around brunch, but we were out of there in 30 minutes.
Chez Zer isone of my favorite places lunch! On this occasion I was meeting someone for lunch but got stuck in the valet line for 15+ minutes with no way out. This is the second time this has happened when a special event is underway - more valet parkers for this situation please!
Always reliable. Only thing I recommend is to avoid peak times as the acoustics are terrible. Also, bring your glasses and flashlight, as menu is hard to read for us seniors.
Loud and chicken undercooked. Friendly server.
Found huge black hair in dinner salad. Waitstaff was not empathetic and the manager walked by later and didn't acknowledge the issue.
My most recent visit was not as good as visits in the past. The staff was very nice - they always are... but the noise level was way over the top! The music was too loud which forced everyone to talk louder.
It won't stop me from going back - but I will definitely ask to sit in a different area.
Enjoyed my visit to brunch. Noise level was high but food was delicious. Multiple birthdays celebrations were happening and people seems to be having a great time.
My boyfriend and I have been planning to start a Sunday tradition of trying new places for Brunch and Chez Zee was the first spot on a long and ever growing list and we were not disappointed: Pour Your Own Mimosas, good service and delicious food awaited us at Chez Zee.
We were worried because when we first arrived we were seated in a undesirable location. Upon asking, our server allowed us to move to a more romantic table by the window to watch the rain. We were a little worried being seated behind a birthday party but that did turn out to be problem at all.
They even had a magician walking around entertaining tables!
We will definitely be back!
Loved Chez Zee for a birthday brunch with friends. Food was great, service was professional and friendly. Definitely going back whenever we want to have an indulgent meal!
Have been here several times and it never disappoints. Would highly recommend
One of our faves!!! Always a cozy atmosphere and great selection.
Food was really good, but we were there celebrating a special occasion; ordered desserts when I called for reservation, but never they arrived. Had to remind server several times. After waiting 20 minutes we got them to go. Once we opened them at home 1 of 4 deserts were wrong. Still good but dissaponintung when doing this as a surprise and for special occasion.
As usual, food was great. They have updated their menu, so pleasantly surprised by the new options available for gluten free brunch options. Been to Chez Zee so many times, hard to count, and the food is always great. The only down slight down side is the service is predictably slowish during brunch. Not that we were in a great hurry necessarily, but very hungry. Our waiter was slow to greet us, however once he did, service improved greatly.
I need to go back more often to try even more of the new menu options. Never get tired of the food at Chez Zee!
ALWAYS GREAT, in all regards! Our go-to place. A perfect place for all occasions.
Charming and unique atmosphere. We started with Lucinda's Basil Cheese Torta which was Wonderful!! We all had salads topped with pecan chicken that we enjoyed. The desserts looked great although we'll have to try that the next time we visit. I do think that the tables are a bit too close to each other but it didn't bother us (just something to consider if privacy is needed).
Had a meeting for 8 in a back corner and it went really well. This was a dinner meeting earlier this week. The food was outstanding and all was very nice. They handle requests very well!
Always reliable. Menu has something for everyone. Service is professional.
This was a wedding celebration, an hour after the wedding. Chez Zee treated us royally, with ribbons and banners and congratulations and a big slice of wedding cake. Meal, wine and service were excellent. This meal was my wedding gift to the bride and groom, and I could not have picked a better gift. Thanks to all, and to Sharon, the owner. Greg Lipscomb
We were disappointed to arrive at 12 noon for lunch and the only option was breakfast. This was mentioned NOWHERE on the website!
Obvious the brunch menu did not affect their business but it will affect our choice next time.
Then, on Open Table I said this was for a birthday and our table was NOT outfitted for a birthday with streamers and a Happy Birthday sign. Disappointing!
I will not come again for lunch on the weekend.
We had a reservation and were promptly seated. Complementary basket of croissants was excellent. My entree (crab cake eggs Benedict) came out sans hollandaise sauce and by the time the waiter brought a side of it, my eggs were cold. I asked for cream with my coffee which was again forgotten with a 15 min turnaround to retrieve some. Unfortunately, my cup was never refreshed. However, it was my birthday and they did serve a complimentary piece of cake with a candle which, was nice. Not the best dining experience and will look for another venue when celebrating a special occasion.
Great food and service! Love that Chez Zee has maintained these qualities over the years!
Even though the restaurant was packed and the wait for those without a reservation was over and hour we were seated a few minutes prior to our reservation time and given a lot of attention by the waiter. Great experience and fabulous brunch!
The food was excellent as always. The noise level was almost intolerable today even though we had a late lunch.
This place lives up to my expectations EVERY time! went for our anniversary 10 years ago because it won "Most Romantic" and it WAS and Still is! went for brunch because it won "Best Brunch" and it Still is the best brunch spot! thanks for STAYING on top all these years!
We all enjoyed our food items (brunch) we ordered and the drinks were very delicious. We definitely will be back to try different food items and different drinks from the brunch menu.
We had 3 generations for Sunday Brunch. Chez Zee never fails to exceed expectations. This is one of the most varied and reasonably priced brunch menus in Austin. Thanks for the valet parking. It was really needed.
This place was super cute and tasty... the best part of brunch was the croissants and strawberry butter!
Excellent food along with a comfortable environment.
Our server was fantastic. She made out celabration without our daughter on her birthday.
We enjoyed our meal very much.
Dinner and dessert were both fantastic.
Very cool atmosphere as well.
Service was fast and amazing. The food was great and the dessert is incomparable! Tons of options and they all sound delicious.
Love this place! Can't go wrong with any of the Benedict's for brunch and the creme brulee french toast is a home run.
Chez Zee never disappoints--a variety of dishes--all good to excellent. The prices are fair and the service is always attentive.
The "complementary" Valet parking is ridiculous. They parked my car three parking spaces away from the valet stand, and there were many open spots, reserved for "Valet". I could have parked it in less time than it took to give the car to the valet and get a receipt, just so he could drive my car 20 feet away. Not only would it have been faster and more convenient for me to park my own car, it would have been cheaper, without the tip the the valets. This seemed to me a gimmick so that two guys could collect tips.
The food was good. The bacon-wrapped filet and the New York strip steak were both wonderful. The mashed potatoes were great. The asparagus? Meh, my wife cooks much better asparagus; the Z asparagus was pretty bland until we loaded up with salt and pepper.
The waiter forgot my wine order. I decided not to remind him, as he seemed more attentive to other diners, and by the time he came back, we were too far in to our dinner.
Otherwise, the staff treated us well, and having a reservation, we were seated immediately.
The place was too loud for my taste. I had to strain to hear anything my wife was saying, and I lost count of the times I had to say, "I can't hear what you're saying." Seriously people, I can only ascertain that you have it so loud so that we don't hang around when we finish eating, and vacate the table at the earliest possible time.
If you're going to Chez Zee for a special occasion, be sure and mention it in the Special Requests section of the reservation request. It will be worth your while, as they treat those occasions specially.
Food: A- (A+ for the meat; A for the mashed potatoes; B- for the asparagus)
Ambiance: B- for noisy
The Halibut was overcooked and the lemon risotto was dried out. Definitely not worth the money. However the fried pickles were excellent
