What Insiders Are Saying
For classic French food in Georgetown, head to Chez Billy Sud.
Continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in DC. Food always amazing, ambiance on point. Service was a bit off this time (temperamental), but that happens. Visited Bar Au Vin before dinner, love it!
Had a wonderful brunch here. My poached eggs had a red wine sauce on them, it was super delicious. What a fantastic combination , I will definitely come back here when I’m in town again.
We had a wonderful meal. The service was very good and the atmosphere very pleasant. A totally great experience.
Chez Billy Sud remains a delightful place to experience French specialties dining that are excellently prepared and served. At a recent luncheon we enjoyed entrees of Thon a la Nicoise and Truit Grenobloise --- both were outstanding. Service was warm and welcoming.
Duck wasn’t greatTuna was delicious. Service was spotty.
We had a specular meal there. Thanks to Aggie our wait staff person helped with the meal and wine planning. It was like we were back in Paris.
True French dining! We loved our experience and will come back for more. Our table had the trout and the tuna and both very very tasty!
Phenomenal as always. We were a table of three and had the rillettes (best fish dish in DC I'd say), the chicken liver mousse, and the escargot for starters, then the steak frites and moules Dijonaises for main courses, and ended on the cheesecake. Everything was a hit.
Beautifully appointed room with an exquisite menu. The wine list was delicious and NOT overwhelming. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, the food was delicious - flavorful, fresh, perfectly proportioned and dessert decadent and unique. Can not wait to return.
Feels like you're in a cozy french cafe in Paris. Services and food were both amazing. Would highly recommend as a great place to explore the next time you're in Georgetown!
Limited menu that they do very well. Drinks are excellent. Wait staff is attentive but not smothering. We didn't feel rushed at all.
Had the beef bourguignon, Cesar salad and pate...absolutely awesome in every way. Recommend to everyone, well worth the visit. Will definitely return. Viva la France!!
First time. Loved it and will be back.
Best french food i’ve had in DC by far! Our swrvice was also great
Don’t like the new food gras Pate presentation. Where were cornichins? Serving dish dumb. Bring back duck breast entree please
I went to Chez Billy Sub for my first time this week with fussy eaters in my family and everyone came away impressed, a rare reaction after a meal at a new restaurant with this lot. The menu was well fit for this pescatarian and ambiance was delightfully cozy with soft lighting.
We have been here several times when I come to DC on business. We were 2 people & were given a terrible table in the middle of the aisle. Everyone had to walk around us as they proceeded to their table. We requested an empty table against the wall but were told it was “reserved” for people who would arrive in 20 min. It was empty for a longer period of time. Obviously they provide special reservations for special people. Food is good. Too bad. I’m done.
We visited on a Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday. Had to wait 1/2 hour past reservation time for a table but once seated service was perfect, efficient and personable (and they apologized for the wait and comped a dessert). The fish and steak dishes were exceptionally good. We have dined at CBS before and will return.
The graceful ambience and delightful food, served by enthusiastic and knowledgeable wait staff is always a treat. Last night was no exception. And how great to be able to hear one’s dinner companion!! I will keep returning - nowhere like it in NW DC
Amazing service and incredible food!
We had a really lovely evening celebrating my husband’s birthday. Great service.
The most amazing dinner I be ever had in washington
Great service and the food was very good. We especially loved the trout and sauces. My husband gives it a 4 because his chair was uncomfortable. Mine was fine. Would love to come back when the patio is open. Charming property and overall a great experience.
Food and service was wonderful!
Excellent Georgetown restaurant for a special occasion
The food was good, and service was good, but the noise level is really annoying. It is very hard to have a conversation without screaming, which really takes away from the purpose of going out with friends !
WONDERFUL FOOD, AMONG THE TOP 2 OR 3 MEALS I'VE HAD IN DC
Wonderful decor, service and cuisine! Always the best!
Got there at 6:00pm, and started to get busy around 7:00pm.
Very much enjoyed our dinner, food was beautifully presented as well as being delicious. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is charming.
This is our third dining experience (1 lunch, 2 dinners). It is a real pleasure each time. Agnes took care of us with total professionalism, but friendly and full of humor. The food is delicious, the wine list reasonable and the service is terrific. With plenty of menu options at fair prices we plan to visit again, and it need not be a special occasion.
First visit for us and will not be the last-a wonderful French country focused restaurant-service was perfect, food excellent and the ambience is special
They also have a wonderful patio for warm times of the year and a lovely bar/restaurant
Always a lovely experience. Service is always quite good, but our waitress was exceptional this visit - efficient and very pleasant, but not intrusive. We never felt rushed but also never lacked for anything. We very much appreciate that there is no loud blaring music - conversation is easy. Chicken liver mousse and duck leg confit were standouts. Trout is also always done nicely. Will definitely return.
We did brunch at Chez Billy Sud on Sunday. This place is a great little French restaurant tucked into a side street in Georgetown. That didn’t stop people from finding the place, definitely a hot spot for brunch, we made reservations and we were told they are needed.
Chez Billy has a great brunch menu offer traditional brunch dishes along with French classics. The cheese plate was fantastic, the homemade raisin bread paired excellent with the variety of cheeses.
The Pan Perdu was incredible, rich, but not too sweet. I had no complaints with anything. Our server was great, she was very attentive and the brunch cocktails are really go.
Definitely recommend for brunch and we look forward to going back some evening for dinner.
Reserve well in advance. Very popular. Excellent food. $100 for 2 without wine.
We love these place! Food and service were great! The place is beautiful and noise level perfect for conversation. Planning to come back to get the amazing Thone/tuna and delicious ñoquis! It’d be great if they add more vegetarian options
Second time at Chez Billy Sud and did not disappoint! Our server was a joy and we really enjoyed her recommendations. They have an excellent wine list with moderately priced bottles, which is amazing for this type of restaurant. The butternut squash soup and the escargot were wonderful.
