Fantastic experience for our 10 year anniversary.
Wonderful food and service. Delightful setting for a birthday dinner.
Delicious food, quaint ambience (sat on patio) and excellent service!! The restaurant does a fantastic job with social distancing and safety protocols. Our server, Agi, was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of the menu, preparation processes, and gave us excellent recommendations for our party of 3 to share. Everything from start to finish was perfect!
Even during the pandemic, the greeting is warn, the service most attentive, and a simple dinner was just great
Always a nice experience dining here. The only misstep was very overcooked green beans. I never experienced that with trout here before, so maybe it was an off night. Like the ample space between tables on the patio.
It was such a pleasure to come back here for dinner. We had the steak frites and the sea bass along with some good wine. The food , the atmosphere and the service were excellent.
The dessert menu here needs work. It is the low point of the meal.
It was great to be back after such a long time. Very happy to see that they manage to weather the pandemic. Service was excellent and the food did not disappoint. Thank you.
Lovely meal in all respects. Great food, great service. Highly recommend the bucatini.
Great location, French cuisine, good service. avoid the chocolate
We had been looking forward to Chez Billy Sud based on excellent reviews. The food was good but not deserving of 5 stars, we had the Amish chicken, Bucatini and sea bass. The sea bass could have used a bit more fennel, a bit less butter, didn’t need to be swimming in it, but is was tasty. The desserts were disappointing, have had better. Flour less chocolate cake was more like a small, hard brownie and the riz au lait was creamy but the topping was much too sweet, so much so that I scraped it off. This restaurant had no ambience at all. It was a chilly evening, the doors were kept open so we ate with our jackets in as did other diners.
One of my absolute favorite places in DC! High recommend! The service is amazing, friendly, and fun. The food is to die for. This folks deserve a James Beard award!
It was challenging to get a reservation but well worth the effort.
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and loved our meal.
We got the leeks vinaigrette, beef tartare and escargot for appetizers. Normally escargot is served on a small plate and simply snails in a buttery garlic broth… not so at CBS .. it’s a beautiful pile of escargot in luscious herbs with mushrooms on delicate toast points… magnificent.
The leeks, while slightly tough, were sitting in a memorable hazelnut and truffle egg mixture that was incredible and the beef tartare was equally good.
For our main courses, we ordered the Scottish Salmon and the duck. The salmon was cooked perfectly and sat beneath a golden crisp of shredded potato.. with the accompanying asparagus and beurre blanc, it was absolutely delicious. The duck came with crispy skin on the outside and succulent, tender meat beneath .. all was perfectly executed.
While the restaurant doesn’t have a big menu, they are are successful in focusing on the quality of the food they put forth which is as it should be and likely the primary reason they are so much in demand. We sat outside in their enchanting patio area and loved every minute… as well as the complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary.❤️
We will be back and if you have not been, you should make the effort to get a reservation.. it is delicious, romantic, and quaint and certainly brought back fond memories of our honeymoon to France.
Great food and service overall. It took a while to get our food since their kitchen was busy, but the appetizers helped us wait. Had a bad recommendation with the wine, but they quickly removed it from the table after seeing our faces. Just for this good service, I will coem back.
The Chez Billy Sud team keeps us coming back. The food is excellent and the service tops it off.
Lovely evening and our friends (first timers) enjoyed it very much and we all want to come back.
Thanks, Maryam Garahan
Thank you Chez Billy Sud for another wonderful birthday. I love every second of visiting and eating in this restaurant.
The was very good, but the service was extremely poor. Our waiter was very inattentive.
It was a wonderful meal of moules & frites with a delicious Sancerre. Delicious.
Fabulous staff, fabulous food, fabulous night on patio and at wine bar - oh, and fabulous wine too :)
We had a wonderful dinner at Chez Billy this past Saturday after missing this place for a long time during the pandemic. Kate, Juan, Harrison and the rest of the team are wonderful, warm and welcoming. They took such good care of us and the food was amazing. This is definitely one of my all time favorite Georgetown restaurants. We especially love the Bar a Vin side of the restaurant and the outdoor courtyard as well.
Always excellent! Thanks
I had the Loup de Mer which, while delicious, I felt the sauce or general flavor made each item on the plate taste the same. It was almost impossible to differentiate the fish from the other elements.
Best French restaurant in DC by far. Don't think to hard on this.
We ordered the Steak Frites (always excellent) and the Moules Frites. Both were fantastic and the service was on-point, per usual. Highly recommend!
A top dining place with us. Our friend had the sea bass amandine -fresh and beautifully prepared. My husband and I had the Amish chicken with spinach and potatoes dauphinois. Simply delicious! We love Chez Billy!
The restaurant has pared down its former menu, and at the moment lacks a pastry chef, hence no bread or dessert pastries are available. The chef kindly provided us with some toasted slices of baguette to sop up the delicious sauce with our fish. The setting is lovely, and being on the patio is a real plus during warm weather. The ambiance is upbeat, wait staff professional and prompt, and although I have formerly only eaten here in the winter months, I was really pleased at the excellence of the food and service in this spring setting.
Ate in the courtyard and had a wonderful dinner. Our server made outstanding suggestions on wine and food. Wonderful evening.
Fantastic meal and fantastic service! My favorite restaurant in the city.
Excellent patio dinner, frisee salad wonderful,
Beet salad same. Entrees were mixed, salmon was perfect but duck was stringy, overcooked and way to salty.
Will be back as we love the place, don't order the duck.....
The food and service at Chez Billy are always wonderful, and this was no exception - and the courtyard venue was a delight on this 75 degree spring evening.
Fabulous wine and food!
Fantastic meal and the staff are very friendly and inviting. Really enjoyed sitting in the patio area. Was a great experience.
We dine at Chez Billy about once a month and each time we enjoy it a bit more. The staff is the best part of the restaurant: helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and funny.
The food is fantastic. The wine list is well-appointed.
We love it.
Food was excellent. Service a bit spotty. Server seemed very busy but was quite pleasant.
So welcoming and happy for the support. Our waiter Torrance went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed. The onion soup, confit de canard, and mussels were delicious. So was dessert -- we had both on the menu. A terrific place to re-experience dining indoors with properly distanced tables and masked personnel.
My boyfriend is celiac. Usually French restaurants are totally lacking in gluten free options but nearly everything on the menu was GF or could be made GF! We had a great time.
Lovely ambiance. Great food and drink. A Georgetown must.
We had an amazing meal! Our waiter expertly helped us choose a great wine and our entrees were delicious. We will definitely return soon. This is culinary gem for DC.
Great place to have quite romantic dinner with European vibe of being at a plaza in Italy especially so missing it now during pandemic with travel bans.
