This was our first visit to Chez Billy since July. This restaurant had always been a favorite of ours until our July visit. On that visit the food and the ambience was off. Our visit on 1/15/22 returned Chez Billy to the top of our list - everything was perfect. Thank you.
Great Dinner! Service was delicious and the service was fantastic!
It was beyond amazing! The food was top notch and so innovative in flavor! Can’t wait to go back!
It has been over a year that they don’t have a coffee machine.
Desert without coffee??? Like seriously this was one of our favorite restaurants. But no more!
I gave them a pass last two times with no coffee but they should get their act together. No more passes!!!!
I am 60 years old and have traveled the world and been to a lot of restaurants but have never been to a restaurant that does not serve coffee.
Not even tea. None sense.
Also, big mistake with hamburger. I did not want to send it back but I hope the chef got feedback that all three people that ordered it did not eat them. Worst meat and tasteless!
Salad was amazing and Husband ordered duck ant that was amazing.
Quality and quantity of food outstanding. Service the best I’ve had in DC! Only downside was lack of coffee service at end of meal
Great ambiance, warm, cozy lighting. Menu consistent with french bistro fare. However, menu entree selection was good, but lacking in creativity, particularly the vegetarian and chicken options. Service was also good, though, I was dining alone and the appetizer I'd ordered was much too large for just myself, and the server could have been helpful to let me know of the portion size when I'd ordered it.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and the food I ordered was delicious and as I'd anticipated based on the menu description. Looking forward to returning again.
Elegance with class. The scene is romantic and beautiful with food as great as expected. An incredible value and a five star experience.
Great experience! Great food! Thank you.
Very good restaurant, definitely worth trying, quality food and quality service.
Absolutely incredible anniversary dinner in an elegant yet non-pretentious setting. Portions were enormous, leaving plenty to share.
We were disappointed in our meal last night. No bread available at all was is a mysterious (Covid?) choice. Two different fish dishes were either over sauced or very oily/greasy. Not up to their usual level.
Dinner for four on at 6 pm on a Thursday evening. Arrived early, warmly welcomed by the host, invited to be seated or to have in drink in the back bar while we waited for our company. Bartender friendly and provided timely service. Waiter appeared immediately upon our seating, got us started on wine(s), and food orders; competent and timely service throughout four courses and multiple bottles of wine. All courses were excellent and very well presented. French Onion soup, salmon roulette, moules frites, steak frites, duck all particularly excellent. Wine list is small, but very well done. We have been dining here for 6 y -- and highly recommend to anyone we know.
We had a lovely special birthday dinner. The waiter was wonderful and the food was delicious. They gave us a lovely table tucked away near the front. The shrimp appetizer was wonderful. The amish chicken entree was tender and tasty. Loved the whole experience.
Too noisy. The bass was swimming in butter. Salad was excellent.
Delicious food, very nice ambiance and superb service. Will definitively return on my next trip to DC.
Cozy ambiance and excellent service. The food was delicious.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Brought some friends who hadn’t been to DC since they were young and they were blown away. Could not stop raving about both the food and wine. The Lamb Shank that was on special was amazing.
The appetizers (escargot and French onion soup) were absolutely delicious. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and the croque madam + frites were amazing!! 10 out of 10 recommend
The food, wine and ambiance are wonderful. But we waited nearly an hour WITH a reservation. Courtesy drinks and repeated promises of “just a few minutes longer,” do not cut it at a restaurant of this calibre. So disappointing.
A top-flight bistro with outstanding food that is a worthy successor in the Georgetown space to the venerable Cafe Laruche.
We always prefer eating in the bar area at Bar a Vin! The staff are so warm and welcoming and the high ceilings and ambiance are lovely. Juan is the most fabulous waiter ever. We love him!!!! Food is always delicious!
The restaurant has a very lovely setup and ambiance.
Food was amazing. Had escargot, French onion soup, steak frites, and braised pork. All dishes were equally superb. The house red was enough to make us happy too.
Great food, great service, as always!
The food has gone downhill since Covid, and we very much missed the beautiful baguette they used to have. Our server was terrible.
Great food and service.
Start to finish was very good. Food very solid and service was outstanding including wine support and picks
Loved the charming ambience, delicious meal and warm, friendly service!
The drinks took far too long to arrive. The chicken was okay, the potatoes drenched in far too much nutmeg but otherwise bland, the Swiss chard okay. The salmon excellent, the beet salad very good. The waiter brought my wine immediately when I asked him to bring it with my entree. For the second glass, he brought the wrong wine but tried to pretend as if he didn't. He was fairly decent, but very fake and insincere. The host was the most insincere obnoxious human I have met so far. They did not serve coffee. That is not acceptable. The support staff were quite bad. Hostesses and bussers were more suited to fast food. I saw every busser's butt crack. Is that fine dining? I'm thinking it isn't. Automatic 20% tip added on...very douchy. And when they deserved maybe 4%, a rip-off. I want to change my review to one star, maybe one-half. This place is basically Panera masquerading as fine dining.
Our family of 4 were there for dinner the day after Thanksgiving. The place has only a dining room so it was felt lively because it was packed the whole evening. We thought every we ordered were well prepared. The onion soup and the duck appetizer were flavorful. We did also enjoyed our main courses of steak frites , bucatini and Scottish Salmon. We rate this place equally as good or better than the other restaurants in DC such as Le Diplomate, Bistro Du Coin (our favorite french ambience place) or Et Voila..
Food quality has declined since pre-Covid. Excellent atmosphere and wait staff.
Another lovely evening at Chez Billy Sud!
Happy to see tip automatically added, wish all restaurants did this!
Overrated and over priced. Made a reservation for my birthday and the seated us by the door and reception which was continuously opened letting in cold air. Ordered wine and the server asked for our order. Shortly after my wine came they brought the vegetable side and our dinner, salmon for me and halibut for my wife who said no black pepper or spicy sauce. Her fish was fine but the accompanying sauce was spicy. My salmon was practically raw and I sent it back. Told them to make me the steak frite medium snd they said it would take 20 minutes. Told them just to bring the bistro burger. By the time my food arrived mi wife had finished her dinner. Dessert was disappointing rice pudding that was so thick it was inedible. A cheesecake was provided for my birthday treat and it was not even close to a French pastry. This was absolutely the worst experience I have had at a restaurant booked through Open Table!
We really enjoyed ourselves on the Outdoor Patio. PLEASE get heatlamps, etc so that we can comfortably return as the weather gets colder. I promise to come and to bring others if you heat up the patio to a reasonably comfortable, Roomtemp not necessary. Just make it warm enojgh.
Our server was delightful. The steak frites was huge and we could have shared it. Our guests were impressed. Well done!
Great food and service, as always. It is one of our favorite restaurants.
The service was very poor. We had to call the server for small things which are served as basic, like bread or olive oil and butter.
The restaurant didn’t look they packed for Friday night yet the server took a while to meet our needs
The food, ambiance, and service were all amazing for our birthday dinner with friends. The pork dinner was our favorite dish as well as the chocolate torte. Thank you for making my friend's birthday dinner so special!
We had a wonderful evening at Chez Billy! the Pork Shank and Mussels were amazing!!!! The restaurant made it extra special for my wife’s birthday. We will be coming back!
Food is superb. Especially recommend duck leg confit. Gracious service, beautiful space. Tables are spaced well apart....one feels very safe.
