A delicious meal at Chesapeake Restaurant at the Tide's Inn. The music was lovely and unexpected for a Sunday evening. There were only a couple other tables occupied so it was pretty quiet. A great caesar Salad with anchovies(!) and my rock fish was cooked to perfection. The service was also good.
We were traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday to the Chesapeake region and the location was recommended. We decided to check it out a day before our dinner reservation and since the GPS tends to send travelers to the Hotel Golf Course instead of the hotel, we were glad we checked it out in advance. While there we stated for lunch and really enjoyed both meals!
The hotel is beautiful and the service is outstanding. There was a bit of an off putting plumbing odor both days at the entry to the restuarant, but hopefully that will be handled.
Food was very good. They honored our requests and everyone was very friendly. A nice little surprise included for our anniversary!
Very good food and excellent service
We had our anniversary luncheon on the Terrace. The 2 persons assisting could not have done better. We will come back here every year for our anniversary
Lovely food, service, and ambiance as expected at The Tides. Baked oysters appetizer and fluffy crab cakes were on point.
Patroons were rude and annoying, but the staff was great. The staff doesn’t deserve snobs to treat them so badly.
It's always nice to eat at Chesapeake Restaurant. The food quality, however, has dipped recently. The scallops were disappointing (may not have been scallops) and the crab cake was mostly filler, with no lump crab meat.
The beet salad was top notch, which we both had for appetizers. The seafood quality was the only issue in a nice evening.
Our server was polished, engaging, helpful and did a great job.
We'll be back and sincerely hope this was just an off night!!
Top-shelf food and service. Comes at a premium though. Very pricey but worth it if you're on vacation or it's for a special occasion.
We have been at Tides Inn many times on our boat heading north or south. Another visit this week … the Chesapeake Restaurant has always been good .. but this was was special. Yes it is the superb food and very comfortable ambiance … but our server made it happen. Great service at a time where its hard to found … especially how difficult it is to hire enough people …. Was great to see it . We will be back again tonight.
Fantastic food and impeccable service-“CC” was wonderful.
Think the $50 corkage fee is a bit much.
Will definitely return .
Great ambiance, service was competent, food was just OK. Chicken and Halibut were really nicely prepared but they fell flat with the frozen and canned side dishes.
Hard to beat the setting, food needs to improve and the it will be a fantastic place to dine.
Best consistent dinner in town
Fantastic experience! Wonderful, high quality food !
Another excellent dinner! Food quality was fantastic! Service was superb!
Excellent food ! Professional service !
We had a lovely experience, with excellent food and professional service.
Great birthday accommodation and service. Food was delicious.
Wonderful service and excellent brunch. We will definitely be back.
Unfortunately slow service and limited menu due to an “ event” taking place the same evening. Already, we were obliged to take a vet early time for dinner (5:45). We had some noisy guests at the next table with loud laughter à d off-color “humor”. Our waiter did his best but was hampered by the same event priorities.
The menu was remarkably short with only five or six appetizers and a similar number of entrées. There was only one chef's special menu item and one of the appetizers was upsized to entrée size. The food was well-prepared, very nicely presented and appropriately hot/warm.
The only complaint my wife or I had was that the service while friendly was not quite as attentive as we would have liked. Our waitress seemed to have indoor and outdoor tables and at times was absent from our table longer than we would have liked.
I have come to this restaurant at intervals since 1966, and this was not the high point of my visits there though the standards for the food itself seemed as high as ever.
Family in town
Great food, attentive and knowledgeable staff and fantastic view
A huge disappointment at a high price. Food was mediocre but the view was lovely.
Great food and service
We are outside on the terrace and watched the sunset over the river. Food and service were great!
The food and service was outstanding. The only negative aspect was the noise from a very loud refrigerator near the outside seating. There is also considerable construction at the facility and the sound of construction equipment was nearly constant.
We stayed at The Tides Inn for a weekend and ate breakfast and dinner twice each at The Chesapeake Restaurant. The food was so delicious. For breakfast, the Crab Cake Benedict was delicious, my husband and I got it both mornings. For dinner, my husband got the oyster app and entree filet both nights. I got the beet salad and crab cakes. The food was so good, we didn't want to switch it up. The desserts were amazing too. The first night, there was an issue getting our order in and we waited over an hour for our food, but when it came out, it was amazing and they were very apologetic and gave us our desserts on the house. If the weather is nice, sit outside. The view is beautiful!
4 of us had brunch. We all ordered the avocado toast. It was amazing. It was so good I had it again for breakfast the next day. We sat outside and it was beautiful.
The Chesapeake Restaurant is always a treat. Image a beautiful location, with an immaculate dining room, exquisite food, and over the top service and you can understand what it's like to dine there. Anna was our server and she was attentive, courteous, efficient, and a delight. The menu is somewhat more limited that I recall from earlier visits there, but they had what our party went there to get...She Crab soup and a Crab Cake sandwich. I look forward to my next visit to Irvington and the Tides Inn Chesapeake restaurant. My guess is I'll get the same thing again...and again...and again. It's really excellent.
Cece was wonderful!!!!
This was the first night at the resort which was fully booked for the weekend and the restaurant didn’t have everything fully stocked. The chicken dish was good, but was an extremely small portion. It was if I was only given half of it.
Great food in an amazing setting.
Food is always greatly overpriced at the Tides Inn as is everything else there.
Our server, Lisa, was fabulous. She was attentive without being annoying. The view was beautiful. The food was good, albeit a bit unmemorable. I had the She Crab Soup and it was delicious. Hubby had the swordfish which he said was just “okay.”
One of the highlights of our stay at The Tides Inn! Award winning she crab soup and melt in your mouth filet mignon. I’m always a critical reviewer of restaurants so believe me when I say the Chesapeake is 5-star.
Had a wonderful experience. Looking forward to returning in a couple weeks
Great restaurant with beautiful views. The service was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. We enjoyed the crab cakes and filet. The raspberry sorbet was wonderful.
Excellent service, well prepared entrees and beautiful water views.
Tides Inn was absolutely incredible. One of the best meals I have had. Staff was super friendly, the ambiance and location could not have been better. Can't wait to go back.
