Cherry Circle Room
Chef Pete Coenen’s offerings are both refined and rustic, and reference the
restaurant’s original opening menus of the late 1890’s. His dishes are creative,
sublime takes on familiar regional classics, utilizing the best, most flavorful and
freshest ingredients each season has to offer.
We also encourage guests to visit our adjoining spaces, with include fully restored drawing (lobby) and game rooms (with billiards, bocce, shuffleboard and more), as well as our 8 seat rare and vintage spirits tasting room, the Milk Room, all offering distinctive drink and food options specific to each room.

Service was exemplary and the entire staff (and there were many) was friendly and knowledgeable.
Food was 'creative' yet overpriced, example $18 for beets. 'Deconstructed' carrot cake presentation looked good but uninteresting taste.
Great that they moved us from a cramped tiny table to a booth - made such a difference, little birthday touches were lovely, great food, service & ambience
Fabulous service, especially Tom, and ambiance. Sturgeon Benedict, waffles, sausages, smoked salmon, coffee and fresh juices were very nice. Shrimp and grits were good but maybe a little too rich.
Will definitely be back!
What a beautiful old dining room! Note: no daylight in restaurant. Very dark!
Great food. Impeccable service! Beautiful room and food presentation. !!
Great service - love it here
Everything was expertly executed:
Tartare mixed dextrously at the table,
Blue chateaubriand charred for superb flavour profile,
Rohan duck breast crunchy to juicy,
Good per glass wine list,
Very cooperative, halved dishes to make sharing easy.
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago! Favorite hot small plate dishes: french onion soup, risotto, and mussels. The beef tartare is definitely good, but I don't think it's the best dish in the entire menu, as they advertise. The service is excellent, portion sizes are very generous, and the ambience is dimly lit with old tunes playing in the background, which is part of the charm and overall feel of the Chicago Athletic Association. Five stars!
Wonderful room - music, service, food all were perfect! I would highly recommend a visit to the Cherry circle room!
I love it! The food the place and the music is super awesome ♥️♥️
A cozy spot where you feel transported to a completely differently time and space. Everything is lit in a warm glow with wood paneling and an approachable and familiar menu - yet with great twists that make it very special. The service is also hands-down amazing - you really feel like an honored guest, and that the staff genuinely enjoy the experience with you.
Also a plus - there’s a cool bar with sports on tv and pool table just down the hall. Rooftop bar is an elevator away as well. So a good spot with multiple options.
My wife and I had a morning in Chicago before our flight back to LA and wanted a special upscale brunch in a cool location. I filtered my Yelp search to $$ restaurants and decided on this.
The athletic club building, though still under renovation is an amazing location. The Cherry room is beautiful and cozy. The staff was professional, personable and really on it making it a memorable brunch.
I usually order Benedict as a test because it is such a pain in the butt to get right. The sturgeon Benedict eggs were almost hard cooked, but they happily and graciously replaced it with perfect 63 degree eggs.
The hash browns are more of a potato croquet patty. Tasty, just not my favorite.
Most places put way too much stuff in their Bloody Mary. Here, not enough. It’s a fine line.
Overall it was good. It just wasn’t the $$ quality I was expecting but neither was the price. I was expecting to pay way more.
We had a great time.
Definitely worth the visit.
Amazing food, beverages and service.
We celebrated an important birthday here. The service and setting are impeccable. The food is very good and the cocktails were excellent. Highly recommend this for a special occasion!
Best French onion soup that we’ve ever had. Great hamburger too.
The staff at the Cherry Circle Room was very accommodating. They helped me graciously when my reservation was made for the wrong night and accommodated the seven of us without a hitch. The room is very dark and they do provide flashlights but having it be a little lighter wouldn’t compromise the atmosphere and would assist the guests we all felt. The food is expensive and most things are ala carte so be prepared but we all agreed the food was delicious. Thanks again to the staff for all the special touches and care with my dietary restrictions. This is a lovely special occasion spot.
the location and interior dinning environmental is very awesome. The waiter is friendly although he did not make any recommendations for the dishes.
Was made to feel very special on my Birthday
Absolutely fantastic as always. This is such a great spot and the food is simply incredible. Order as many items as you can. They’re all delicious. Even the steak is worth every penny. The staff do a phenomenal job of adjusting their approach based on the experience you’re looking for. I’ve been here for everything from business dinners to date nights to pure fun with friends. Consistently spot on.
Unique dinning experience. Service was excellent, drinks were good.
Special place tucked in the back of the hotel. We all started with the French onion soup. It’s to die for. Steak tartare was mixed table side which was good but not amazing. Hey were out of shrimp cocktail. Our steak we shared was incredible and both breads were delicious. Carrot cake dessert was weak. Great wine pours and great cocktails served table side by an engaging and dashingly handsome bartender.
what a wonderful historic gem in the heart of Chicago. I so much want to go back.
Great brunch! Unique setting.
Best breakfast ever!!!!! Fantastic food, wonderful service and a cozy atmosphere at a reasonable price — what more could you ask for?
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambiance. Highly recommend. It's obviously not cheap, but that's because it's excellent.
It was my second time dining in The Cherry Circle Room. The first time was fantastic experience. This time Not so much. It was extremely loud. The table was small vs the nice booth we had prior. It always was in the entry of restaurant. The server barely spook about menu or drink menu. My drink was horrible. The server never asked or noticed. I know bread is extra never offered. My nephew ordered the pork shoulder which was tough. My beef was the only saving grace at $43 better be above average which it was. The dessert was also very good. Better to go early during the week and request a booth.
Great wine list, good for a special occasion.
The cocktails and food never disappoint at Cherry Circle Room!
In town from Michigan. This place is wonderful! The attention to detail is spot on. Highly recommended.
Impeccable cooking and presentation, very novel brunch menu. I swear the shrimp and grits (with shallot cream and shrimp the size of prawns) was a complete knock-out. The room is exquisite.
I stopped in with a colleague to celebrate a recent success of our organization. While initially we were taken back by the dim lighting, we came to appreciate the ambience of the room seated in the center booth. The drink list was impressive. The food wonderfully prepared and presented. The sommelier was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The oysters and the beet salad were delicious, as were the entrées that followed. We lingered longer than we had planned simply because we were enjoying ourselves.
My husband and I came here for our one year anniversary. We had such an amazing experience!! They were so gracious to our anniversary and the food/wine suggestions (we always ask the servers opinion) we wonderful. Highly recommend!
Exceptional service and food.
Great restored space in the Cherry Circle room. Awesome brunch food but would be great for after work drinks or casual afternoon get togethers.
We were extremely impressed with The Cherry Circle Room. The service was amazing from the table side creation of my martini to the way the servers ensured we always had everything we needed to their descriptions of the meals and desserts. The wine list was also very imprsssive and we were such a short walk to the theatre, as well, that we were able to find excellent parking for a terrific rate. The presentation of the food was simply amazing. The best salad was so beautiful, I hated to to eat it, but it was also delicious. The mussels were exquisite with a red curry sauce that was outstanding. Even dessert was both beautiful and unique. The carrot cake included candied carrots and it was so light and fluffy!
Wait staff very friendly and helpful- asked if we had to be out st a certain time- which we did- unfortunately the kitchen was a little slow- so we were late but the way the check- as well as coffee to go and little desserts was nice
Wife Birthday and step-son engagement
Cherry Ciecle Room feels like a secret club you have to get invited to. Located behind the Gsme Room in the Chicago Athletic Club, it boasts comfy booth made of plush soft leather and a large curved expansive bar with a collection of liquor and curiosities in every shelf. An astronaut's helmet and a taxidermied lamb peek out at various points. The lighting is soft and indirect, filtering down from beautiful inset circles spread out over the Slade.
Service is excellent, friendly and prompt. Our server was happy to give us recommendations, including an excellent tea choice. The food is perfect. You literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Shrimp and Grits was creamy perfection and the Smoked Salmon was surprisingly light and zesty with a Dill cream cheese on the side. We liked it so much we came back the next day! Seriously,. There are few brunch options that will be better than this place.
Enjoyed hearing the history!
We absolutely loved our meal. The service was outstanding and very personal! We especially loved the steak tartar and when we inquired on the recipe, they gave us the full recipe that was recently featured in the Rising Star magazine!
Probably, the best place in town.
