To further strengthen the partnership with Hawaii’s local farmers and fishermen, Chef Chai co-founded Hawaii Island Chefs (HIC), the second generation of Hawaii Regional Cuisine Chefs. This group of HIC chefs is on a mission to provide the world with the best of Hawaii’s diverse culinary resources from the culture of the people and the bounty of the land and sea.
Chef Chai is constantly seeking out new spices and ingredients at Oahu’s farmers markets and in Honolulu’s Chinatown, which brings back childhood memories of shopping the local markets in Bangkok to find the freshest ingredients for his family’s popular restaurant.

First time dining here and for my birthday. Flavors of the food and composure were very appealing. Service was excellent and delivery of the food was on point. They were out of the chocolate port and a couple of others which led me to not get one. The mouse chocolate Haupia cake was scrumptious. We will be back.
Overall excellent Valentine's day dinner.
Great food and servers are attentive to providing great customer service
Perhaps our expectations were too high, but we would not come back given the other culinary options in Honolulu. The restaurant is a confusing mix of old Hawaii with a woman selling flowers and lei from table to table while you dine and nouveau fusion atmosphere that did not mix. The piano player was nice as we were in the side dining room, but would have made conversation difficult in the main dining room. There were some interesting chandeliers that I noticed above our table which were constructed from wine glasses, however as I was commenting on them to my dining companion, I noticed that they were quite dusty. If you are going to have glass features and white lights, you've got to dust daily. The main dishes we had were the lamb (excellent) and the scallops (good but a bit bland and unexciting). For $160+ meal, we'll go elsewhere next time.
We attended Chai's on a special event evening when dinner was served along with entertainment by a top local/international recording artist. The house was full but serving was handled very efficiently and the prix fixe menu was exceptional. The appetizer included 4 different delectable items for each diner. The entrees were from the regular menu and the desserts were terrific as usual. What a wonderful evening!
We attended Robert Cazimero’s performance. As usual, he was magnificent!! We were also impressed with the food staff and service.
Great meal. Loads of food in the early bird special, all delicious, and beautifully presented.
Every time we come to Honolulu we make sure to visit Chef Chai. The food and service are terrific.
Excellent as always! Good food, good service! Great location when catching a show at the Blaisdell
Prices were what you’d expect in Honolulu but food matched the price. We had 5 different appetizers and loved them all. Very fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend!
Good food and good service. The fixed price meal was a real value. The scallops and risotto were excellent. The deserts were nice. The pineapple was not particularly sweet because the did not trim the core off, so basically you got fiber and very little pineapple. The coffee drinks are in a word - terrible. We sent them back. For a restaurant of this caliber to use a coffee machine that makes the drinks with inferior coffee and powered milk and coffeemaker is unacceptable.
I don’t usually go out often for fine Dinning but this experience was really nice, I took my wife out for her birthday and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, I will definitely be coming back in the future.
The food are very good especially the appetizers and deserts. Service is outstanding and our server is very helpful and tentative. Overall, it's a very pleasant dining experience.
We always enjoy eating dinner at Chef Chai.
A little noisy but nice
Food was over salted by a lot (scallops @risotto) ...sea bass skimpy and over priced. Had heard good things but we were very disappointed.
Acoustics was poor; next table was excessively loud. Non vegan meals were expensive for ala carte.
All the food is great and when you come early for the early bird special it is a fantastic value.
Also appreciate the special dessert for birthdays.
All around great!
This is a really special place. The food and the service are superb, with the menu offerings creative and overall terrific. If you have tickets to anything at the Neil S. Blaisdale Center - this restaurant is literally right across the street. Would absolutely go again!
This was my 6th or 7th visit over the past few years. I'd normally give 4-5 stars on service but tonight's server wasn't attentive. No one came to see if we were okay with our entrees. My empty cocktail glass sat there long after I was finished with my drink. He took my entree plate away but not the rice bowl, until he brought our desserts.
Enjoyable experience with lots of flavor!
What a treat to hear Robert Cazimero sing and see his hula dancers! And to have Aunty April and Kumu Maelie dance! The food was fantastic as was the service!
My favorite restaurant in Hawaii!
Always amazing food!! Well above expectations and service is excellent!
Everyone was so friendly and it was a wonderful dining experience.
Perfectly convenient to Blaisdell and good NYE option.
Vegan/Veg option is good and a regular.
Think it is time for a spruce up and deep clean in restrooms....
Food and service were excellent and I was happy to share the experience with my fiancee from Florida!
Thank you Chef Chai for a great evening!
Appetizers, entrees, and the dessert were excellent. Service was good—waiter made recommendations on entree selection and the timing of meals served was great. Restaurant was impeccably clean and Chef Chai himself was working to make sure everything ran smoothly that evening for everyone in the restaurant. I was very impressed.
very good food, nice place for date, anniversary, meeting, entertaining etc
Really enjoyed our first time there, it's the best dining experience I have had since moving to Oahu!
Great experience!! Food was delicious. We had a 5pm reservation and were delighted to find a prix fix menu for $42 each is served between 4-5. We ordered it I had the Salmon and my husband Filet Mignon. Couldn't believe how much food for the price which included appetizers and dessert. Some of the entree's were $42 if ordered separately or during regular hours so if you like to eat early it is a bargain. Friendly staff too.
Excellent food and service!!! Loved the naan bread, satay sauce dip and the salmon was so moist and delicious. Chocolate lava cake was the best!! Chef Chai’s is delish!
Greatly enjoyed the quality of the food and the friendly attentive service, BUT certain elements in the decor were noticeably dusty, I.e many of the clear glass accoutrements could’ve used cleaning
We were seated very promptly even though we made a mistake and made our reservation on the wrong day. Food was great and so was the ambiance. Would go again.
The service was outstanding and the food was amazing.
It was a perfect Christmas Eve dinner. Mahalo Chef Chai
Going to Chef Chai’s for Christmas Eve has become a family tradition. Excellent food with good service.
