The Perfect Evening! Thank you Chef Chai , and your entire team, for another perfect meal! The smoked duck breast Tacos and fresh Kumamoto Oysters started us off perfectly. (We also really enjoy & appreciate the free starter at every meal, that Naan bread & sauce w/topping!) The butternut squash lobster bisque soup was delightful. I cant help it, I always order my Fav, your Vegetable Terrine w/green curry sauce, and of course, naan bread :-), its so addictive & satisfying (seriously, if you bottle that Green Curry Sauce, it will fly off the shelves) My husband raved about how perfect your Chilean Sea Bass! The rice it came with, also so uniquely deliscious. Everytime we dine here, we talk about how much better it is, than the other top restaurants we go to (the others are far more expensive too, not nearly as tasty, memorable) We made a promise to ourselves, we wont just dine here, prior to seeing an event or show at the Blaisdell, Chef Chai is absolutely worth the drive for any meal!!! Mahalo & with respect!

Lovely and delicious…we ordered a variety of items: cocktails, bisque soup, tuna tartare cones, stir fry, scallops…everything we ate was flavorful and ono. There was a generous spirit about the place too…a chef’s starter, large portions, good ratio in the drinks. We just didn’t have room for desserts!!

We went for the D’Arenberg wine dinner and had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner. The service, cuisine and wines were all fantastic. I especially enjoyed the five spice duck leg. We can’t wait for the Molly Dooker wine dinner next month.

Chef Chai is one of Honolulu's best restaurants and he is a treasure! This was a special evening dinner with Australian wine pairings for a five course meal. Everything was delicious, and the wines superbly chosen. We were struck that Chef Chai himself was actually (with no fanfare about who he is) at the check in table as multiple guests were arriving so no one had to wait to be seated.

First time there, sorry we didn't go sooner! Oxtail to die for! Peaceful and relaxing ambiance. Great friendly service, attentive. Get over there, you'll love it!

I came here for my birthday dinner, good location. I love the aesthetic of this restaurant, the food was amazing, so was the service from Kupu, he was very detail oriented. If I ever come back to Waikiki I will come back here without a doubt!

We have been meaning to visit for some time and finally had the chance last night. It was 20/10. From the moment we walked in the host, the ambiance and our waitress was amazing. Now let's talk about the food. First of all, everything came out quickly. We had complimentary skewers with peanut sauce. 10. Duck tacos (I usually don't even like duck so shout out to the chef.) 10. Escargot and shrimp plate 10 Risotto cakes 10 Salmon entree was packed with flavor. A 10. Pan fried chicken was succulent and tasty. Another 10. We definitely plan on visiting again and encourage you to do the same.

When I made our reservation I specifically requested indoor seating. As I am very familiar with the noise level, and all the dirt flying around from all the cars on Kapiolani Blvd. I knew this was not the experience I was looking for. The hostess started to head outside to seat us. I asked her if she was seating us outdoors?Immediately the Hostess was defensive, smug and rude when I asked why we were sitting outside when I had specifically requested indoor seating. She asked “When did you make your reservation?” I replied “I wasn’t exactly sure but it had been awhile” She went on to say “Well Mr Chai does all the seating arrangements a week before we have no control over it”. I asked if we could wait for indoor dining? She was not happy or helpful with our request. And was not willing to accommodate. ALL of this and we still hadn’t sat down or ordered yet. After a long wait once seated, and staff passing by our waitress popped by. We knew what we wanted to drink so we asked her if we could place our drink order? She said “Yes, but I have to let you know the bartender is backed up quite a bit.” After this, again I knew this was not going to be the dining experience we were looking for. We ordered the beet salad. The beet salad came with ONE, yes one beet. Thankfully the sea bass we ordered was excellent. I will hesitate to make reservations here at Chef Chai’s even though we have been here several times before as we live just down the street. Although we have always sat inside. I use to rave about the food and service. This experience was not ono. I will hesitate to recommend Chef Chai’s in the future.
