Food was delicious but there was sticker shock at bill time. I’ll never come here as a regular diner because I can’t afford it, but I might come again for a special occasion. Service was lovely, and we sat outside. Sitting on divisadero is the equivalent of sitting on a freeway with buses and cars racing by, which means it’s loud and somewhat dangerous if you really think about it. Ambiance definitely not the best.
We have been huge fans of David Nayfeld and his food for years now (all the way back when he and Angela Pinkerton ran their pop-up Mission D the teleeka cheese with strawberry jam, the prosciutto and melon, the suppli, the lasagna bolognese, the cacio e pepe, and the Gricia pizza were all exceptional. We also ordered the tiramisu for dessert, which my partner said was the best she'd ever had in her life. (She was also highly appreciative of the wine recommendation—always appreciate wait staff who are so knowledgeable about the food they can offer up a good pairing!) All in all, such a great way to ease back into SF dining after a rough year. We're grateful Che Fico Alimentari exists, and would definitely recommend it to anyone—it's great for a casual dinner or even if you've got visitors worth impressing.
I wish I remembered our waitress’ name, she was sweet, super professional and just a great waitress!
The service was horrible. Even with a reservation for an indoor table, they sat is at the counter, under the auspice that no table was available, when in actuality there were a couple of empty tables. After being sat down, it took the server 10 minutes to approach us for drinks. After placing our order, our food arrived at an interval of 5-7min between plates/servings. They rushed us to consume what ever serving where left on our plate or to pack it - to go. No plates, besides our initial two antipasti were cleared. The server only once followed up on us; no beverage follow up or anything else.
With regards to the food, it’s average and falls under the infamous SF hype. Horrible service + mediocre food = losing a customer.
Loved our visit. The chopped salad and eggplant were to die for. Great service. Awesome ambiance. Would love to return.
Prices were outrageous for the quality of the food and generally poor service. It was nearly $150 for two people (shared appetizer, two mains, two glasses of wine). Most expensive and underwhelming Italian restaurant I've been to in SF.
It was great! The servers were very knowledgeable and attentive. We were sitting outside and the heaters kept us toasty
Chopped salad was amazing and tiramisu was also amazing. Pizza and lasagna were okay
I eat out pretty regularly, pre COVID, now it is a treat to go out.
I am so happy we chose to dine here , it was last minute, and we sat at 915. The staff was awesome, super warm, knowledgeable and the food was fantastic , huge and well balanced and seasoned chopped salad . Pizza smelled as good as it tasted, perfect ratios and char, Cacio was good consistency and chewy pasta. The eggplant was ok, nothing wrong just not as interesting as the other dishes. Good wines, got a couple of carafes, love seeing decent skin contact wine by the carafe.
Thanks for a good night out!
Great place with nice vibe. It took a little over an hour to receive our mains which felt long. The food was good. I’d come back if invited by a friend but have other favorites in SF. Waitstaff was great.
Top notch food and service. Definitely will be back soon!!!
Great experience here, food was wonderful, wine was great, and our server was delightful!
The crew is doing an amazing job! super friendly staff and good service, but we did wait about 50 minutes for our main course. Salad and Focaccia came pretty fast.
We had a mixed experience. The Focaccia was amazing! as well as the Prosecco I had.
The salad was small for $19 and not worth it, and the Suppli al Telefono (fried risotto) was not that good either.
The Spinich Lasagna is super good a very filling dish!
It's a pricy restaurant and they charge a 10% dining fee (to pay a living wage for emploees) but still write on the menu that it doesn't count as gratuity basically. For us, it seems a little much for what we got, not sure we'll come back. maybe get some take-out Pizza that looked good.
Kyle was a great server! I love that they ask for the full order at once. The wine by glass offerings are great as well. The focaccia was probably my favorite, the fluffiest focaccia I have ever had.
Great to bring new friends here, nice dishes overall, especially for the homemade cheeses and pastas, meat dishes could be better and refined, we had the order of porks and steak.
We were traveling from CT and had a wonderful meal. The food was superb and the service was warm, knowledgeable and professional.
A very disappointing meal. Don't understand the hype about this place. The pasta Cacio
e Pepe was extremely dry and gummy. The Lasagna Bolognese was so dry, the little bit of meat was dry like straw and the whole dish had no taste. We left half of these plates uneaten. (Perhaps too long in microwave rather than freshly prepared.) For the price of $25 and $29, this is unacceptable. Only decent dish was the fried risotto. The fava bean appetizer was also sub par.
Topping off disappointing food was the 10% added "dine-in charge". Service was fine but this charge was not for tip/service. We had to leave an additional amt for the tip. This felt like gouging the customer and left another bad taste after such poorly prepared food. We will not be returning.
Lovely and delicious
Food was on point and great wine to match. The focaccia is SO good!
had a wonderful experience. amazing food, and a waitress that allowed me to try different wines before choosing one i liked. had a great time. thank you!
Fantastic food complimented by very welcoming and professional service.
Everything was amazing. Try the polenta, try the pineapple pizza with prosciutto!
Incredible service from the hostess to the server. Food was delicious and different! (It stayed warm even in outside seating in windy SF)!
Delicious as always and great service. Would recommend
Charming cozy eatery. Excellent pastas, incredible roast chicken. Great service!
Overall great experience! Their pizza and pasta were deliciously crafted, and the service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely revisit soon!
I don’t even know how to stretch out “yummy” into 50 characters
Family dinner -Fabulous food Definitely will repeat
Amazing food and service was great. Our server Leah was amazing
Che Fico has amazing food, outstanding wine selection wine and service!
Wow. They are doing everything right. Chewy home made pasta. The best Lasagna I have ever had made the right way with bechamel, not ricotta and 10 layers of super delicate and thin pasta. Arancini perfectly fried, not greasy at all -- how do they even do that??? Sourdough pizza crust perfectly crunchy on the bottom and yet chewy everywhere else, with a bubbly nearly croissant like crust. And suckling pig served with crispy skin....I'm putting it up in my absolute SF favorites in the company of Cotogna and Tony's Pizza. Can't wait for them to find the staff to open Che Fico upstairs in addition to Alimenterai - but don't sleep on this one. Alimentari is worth the visit.
Maybe I am just excited to be back in a restaurant, but REALLY enjoyed dinner for 4 here last night. Ordered a little of everything for sharing. Standouts were the fried risotto, chopped salad, and pizza (so good crust!).
A lot of imagination added to each preparation. Can't wait until the main resto is open again however Alimentari is tiding me over well. Needs more vegan and vegetarian options.
Top notch service and food. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. This a can’t miss spot
We had a good time but the food was not as good as I expected. We live in Italy 6 months a year for the past twenty years and so our standards are high. We found the Amatriciana not al dente and salty, the pizza was great, the eggplant very salty and the salad very good.
The noise level was high so do not expect to have an intimate conversation. It was fun overall but not a repeat.
Outstanding meal and service. Salad, Chicken, potatoes, dessert. Enough for two to share and leftovers to take home. We were seated in a timely manner with our reservation. Outdoor seating was warm under heater and any noise from Divisadero traffic was barely noticeable.
Excellent. Delivered on a high expectation.
Loved the experience good food and awesome service!
We had to wait 20 minutes for our table but there wasn’t much Che Fico could have done. The people wouldn’t budge. After that it was a dreamy night. The food!!! Omg the food was So Freaking Delicious. Pizza, polenta, pasta, lasagna, even the cheese starters and salads were on point. Nebbiolo was extra delicious in the nicest wine glasses. Xxoo
Down to the olive oil. INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you!!!
