In an area surrounded by loud restaurants filled with tourists, the Chatham House is a respite from the craziness. Although the decor is a little outdated, the ambience is perfect for diners who are looking for quiet conversation, decent food, and attentive service. The piano bar, located in the center of the restaurant, is a perfect place to have a drink, listen to the subtle sounds of the pianist, and talk to mature and seasoned local customers some of whom have been frequenting the restaurant since it opened. It's a nice place to relax and have a peaceful conversation with your dinner companions. If you're looking for haute cuisine or hamburgers and fries, this is not the place for you but if you like short ribs, steak, and fish the Chatham House will not disappoint.

We were not told on making the reservation that dinner was a fixed menu with only 3 entree choices of which 2 were seafood and the other a pork chop which they ran out of. It took over 2 hours to get our main course served. After we had ordered we were told by the manager that we could have ordered from the normal menu. The waiter said that was not possible. Both dessert choices had chocolate. The starter soup was only lukewarm. We will be hard pressed to go back again.

they went up on price I guess for the season but also had a different menu which we didnt like as well not the usual things we use to get like the steak and Lobster special now almost dubble price and didnt have crab cakes we love...so we had to settle but what we had was good tasting, just not what we wanted..

Just tried the Chatham House for the first time this week and was very impressed. Excellent selection of traditional fare plus large seafood as well as Italian dish selections all reasonably priced and served in a quiet, tastefully appointed, dining room. Full bar as well. Easy access and parking in a very busy area of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. We will certainly return soon.

If you want good quality food (organic beef, free range chicken, wild salmon), warm professional service, comfortable booths and to be able to have a conversation without yelling, this is the place. We dined at Chatham House for the first time Sunday night and enjoyed the entire evening so much that we went back Monday night. Both nights we had the beet salad (shared) it is as delicious as it is beautiful. If was full of flavor without a lot of oily dressing, actually I don't think there was any oil. The prime rib and strip steak were both cooked perfectly to desired temperature and generous portions. The gluten free gnocchi with lamb ragu was very good as was the cedar baked salmon. Sunday night there was live music, a pianist with a beautiful voice. We will definitely be returning, often.

Nous avons été agréablement surpris. Accueil chaleureux, ambiance confortable et nourriture très bonne à la hauteur de nos attentes. Les tables avec nappes blanches, trés apprécié. Je ne puis parler de l'environnement puisque nous sommes arrivés à la noirceur et n'avons pas exploré les alentours. Nous recommandons l'endroit.
