Chart House Restaurant - Tower of the Americas Ratings and Reviews
I give it 4 stars instead of 5 due to hostess and waiter had no clue about the special promoted by OpenTable. The happy hour menu is only available at the bar, no where is that posted, ridiculous. The food was not bad, but not fabulous. I ordered the short ribs and spinach gnocchi. It tasted like fancy barbacoa. My family ordered coconut shrimp, scallops and shrimp. They liked it. The dessert was really good, chocolate molten lava cake. It was not sweet, which is a good thing, and it was topped with vanilla ice cream, crushed toffee. I'm allergic to nuts, so it was perfect. If I decide to return, I would just hang out at the bar for the actual happy hour menu.
We took advantage of Restaurant Week at the Charthouse. The caesar salad was delicious, perfect amount of dressing and parmesan cheese. We chose to try the prime rib. Absolutely perfect - ordered medium rare and that is how it was served, with horseradish and aus jus. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee, that was rich and flavorful. Our server, Sher, was friendly, efficient, and informative. She made our dining experience more enjoyable.
We were extremely pleased with the food and service once we got seated, however, we had a 7:30 reservation and weren't seated until well after 8:00. The hostess was somewhat frustrated with anyone who was inquiring about their table and told each person that asked that she was seating people in the order that they arrived. I asked if this meant that people without reservations were being seated before people with, and I couldn't get a straight answer from her.
My husband and I went for our 1 year anniversary we were seated rather quickly however it took our waitress Altrice a while to greet us. I had to ask for bread, I ordered a virgin daquiri that I had to send back because I was unable to drink it because it had huge ice chunks. The salad had too many onions and a had to send my well done steak back because it had a burnt taste. I always get well done and never experienced burnt. Although they were very accommodating it was too much for that caliber of restaurant. But what really took they cake is when I asked her what did they do for special occasions after we were already paying our check she said "whatever the chef likes to send why is it your birthday"? I told her no our anniversay as it stated on the menu they gave. For the $250 we spent which includes the picture that they take upon arrival I've had better at Outback. I think they forcus more on ambiance then the whole overall experience.
Fantastic experience! Food was as amazing as the view! Only complaint from my group was the horribly long wait for elevator before and after meal. It was so long it put people in a mood making the euphoria of the experience short and sweet. Left upset, pushed and shoved, not the way I wanted to end my night.
For the first time visiting this restaurant I was kind of shocked that even with a reservation it took nearly an hr to be seated, the hostess even had us make a full round of the floor until she noticed that there was a mistake on our seating and had to take us back to correct it, and when we finally do get seated it took another 10mins to until a waiter even came to our table. So as for the service yes I can admit We was very disappointed and my husband told me , “we are never coming to this place again”, But ....as soon as we were tended to by another waiter everything went very smooth, he apologized for the inconvenience, he was very respectful, gave us his opinion on wines after he came back informing us that the one we requested was out, and the service he provided... well let’s just say he changed our prospective of the restaurant, and I apologize for not remembering his name but I thank him very much for the service he provided us on my birthday 🙂
Everything was amazing! The steak was not the best I’ve ever had but it didn’t require any sauce to liven it up. We had excellent service but the waiter did take a long time to bring us a soda refill. (About 10 minutes).
We came for the view and were not disappointed at all.
The service and food were very good. Our server, Nick, was knowledgeable and courteous. We had three children with us for lunch and he was very accomodating to their needs and having their food brought out prior to the adults.
Good recommendations for choices. The selections made were well prepared and tasty. Very important, the meals were hot when brought to the table.
Overall a good choice. Food, service and atmosphere was great.
It was our Anniversary. The elevators were crowded & slow people were arguing. A lady came over to take people to another elevator. My husband & I got on the elevator & someone complained that they were in front of us but when we got to the restaurant they didn’t have a reservation like us & was told they would have to wait one hour & 30 mins. I think reservations should have priority to get on the elevator so they’re not late trying to ride the elevator.
We are not tourists and have been to this location on many occasions. Food was way below the standards of the Chart House restaurants. We would not eat there again unless something is done to correct the problem. Service was fine. Cocktails were good. We tried a variety of items from the happy hour and main menu. Foods were o.k. to downright bad - overcooked, dry and tasteless. Lobster had to be cut with a knife. Sea Bass was inexcusably greasy. This location HAD really good food at one point and I can guarantee you that our experience was not a fluke. Get a cocktail and go to the observation deck. Save the nice meal for one of the higher end establishments downtown that are working hard for your business. This location is not.
Comida familiar por encontrarnos de visita en San Antonio y reunirnos como familia, lugar con vista privilegiada de la Ciudad, además de excelente comida, sin embargo nos gustaría la varta del menú en español, muchas gracias por la atención.
