Hot Chocolate Lava Cake
A rich chocolate cake with molten center, made with godiva liqueur. served warm, topped with chocolate sauce, heath bar crunch and vanilla ice cream
Bar, service, and entree all good. My oyster appetizer was my worst oysters ever.
Only had drinks and appetizers. One of the appetizers kimchi calamari really didn’t have any kimchi in it. Still tasted good but…
A very nice experience. Very much liked the interior setting and window views. Wait staff working very hard to please. Clam chowder was outstanding! Bread basket very good but could be bigger and with more butter. Also should be served with the water and drinks. It is difficult to cook fish to correct doneness without overdoing. Fish taste was fresh and good, but a bit overcooked. ==== which is better than undercooked! Sides were all very good. Will come back next time in town and skip the entrees for the starters which is more than enough food for senior diners. Maybe you could institute senior sized meals? It's a shame to leave all that good uneaten food. Overall--a place worth dining while in lovely Savannah.
Food, drinks and service was excellent. Ya need to bring back the early bird special!
I have been to the chart house 3 times amon the last 2 months and this was the one that warranted a review. The 2 previous times were fine but something was definitely off this most recent visit. Drinks took no exaggeration 20 minutes to be refilled only to be told countless times that tea was brewing. This must've been magical tea, im not quite sure as I only had about a glass. Then my food came out, prime rib over cooked and after being assured that the medium well prime rib was actually medium rare they informed me it was all the prime rib left for the night. This made sense as it was the end of the rib roast and quite overdone so they were trying to pass it off as though I was mistaken. There were many things that evening left to the imagination, because as I said the 2 previous times were good but of course the negatives are what get people writing and thus here I am.
My Mother’s Day reservation and experience was poor. Server started ok at first, but was inattentive through the rest of the reservation. No refills, had to come back multiple times to modify/clarify our order, had to ask multiple times for silverware salt and pepper, food took an hour to arrive and was not worth its value. Plating was terrible, massive plates with small food portions. The worst thing is that the entire restaurant was reservation only for Mother’s Day, therefore the staff knew exactly how many guests were coming and at what time yet still failed to provide good service. Had high expectations that were let down, not worth coming back.
Restaurant was wildly unprepared.
First and last visit to the Chart House. Fairly slow night on Mother’s Day, but still missed the mark on many fronts. The restaurant did not have 1/2 the things we requested: mojito: restaurant had no mint, drink unavailable... restaurant had no calamari appetizer... restaurant had no Mahi... no asparagus. Worst thing, server was unaware of the missing menu items and informed us AFTER we had ordered them causing more headache and future delays. Entrees were decent, but tough to enjoy after the many failures.
100% not worth the time, energy, money, or reservation.
We have eaten here several times before. The ambiance and food are excellent. Unfortunately the last two times we went, we had the same server, Rod, who gave us terrible service. Excellent restaurant, just avoid this server.
Waitress had to be continually promoted. I.e are there specials, we would like to order appetizers, can we place our meal order. May we have plates for the bread basket. May we have silverware so we can butter the bread and so on.
Then what made things worse was the fire dept put up a ladder at a nearby rooftop. The waitress literally dropped the plates on the table and went to go watch. Not even a check on how everything was tasting.
We are new locals and will not be coming back again. One time is enough.
The manager is absolutely a liability to this business. Would never return to any of the other restaurants in this group. Sarah the manager ruined our Mother’s Day and has single hand idly made us decide never to enjoy bloody Mary’s on the balcony ever again. They served us a well done gray in color filet when we ordered it medium. Her asinine and infantile behavior not only embarrassed our table, but several other tables around us.
Scenery service presentation and taste were all amazing during my wife and I visit to the Chart House. Awesome Mother's Day dinner and I am eager for my next visit there
My server Clifford made this experience awesome. He was very polite, he knew the menu and he was always asking my mother and I if we needed anything. I was celebrating Mother's Day and my mother's 64th birthday. The ONLY thing that was disappointing was the crab cake. It was undercooked and I developed gastritis.
Parking is tricky so plan ahead, it is worth it. Enter upstairs off Bay St. or ground level at River St. Enjoy an excellent meal with complimentary ship watching just outside your window! Save room for the lava cake. You'll thank me later.
College graduation and Mother’s Day dinner
Mother’s Day with family. Very good food and service. On the pricey end especially with cocktails.
A lot of the more traditional Savannah restaurants were booked, so we took a chance on this chain restaurant. Not sure if we should blame lack of staff due to covid or what, but we really wished our $400 dinner for 4 people was better. The food wasn’t anything special, not a ton of flavor, and it took quite a bit of time to get anything.
Silverware was extremely filthy. The replacement silverware was also dirty. It took three trys to get this corrected.
We went for early Mother’s Day. The weather was beautiful so we opted to sit out on the deck. It was a great choice. We had salmon, prime rib and stuffed shrimp dishes that were perfectly prepared.. it was great to watch the activity on river street as we dined.
Our experience was less than wonderful. The food quality was excellent but the service was not very good. Our server clearly was not experienced at the job, and it showed. We shared this with the Manager and instead of addressing it with us, she had the server adjust the bill and deliver the check to us directly. Very uncomfortable for the server and us. The manager passed the buck to the server. Our expectations at the Chart House for service were very high, and they disappointed. We told our manager we won’t return.
It was our first time in Savannah and the Chart house is a staple from California. It’s a great restaurant, we were just disappointed that several things on the menu all of a sudden not available, especially since we mentioned what we planned to order in the very beginning. Otherwise, I’m sure it was just a fluke and it’s still worth trying out.
It’s a typical chain restaurant (Landry’s) in a tourist spot. We went there for our last night in Savannah because of the proximity to our hotel and the river. Food was not spectacular but the views from outside were good.
Below average food for a restaurant that used to be one of the best in town. Same true for the service level.
Service was not the standard for Chart House. Our dinner came before appetizers and staff expected us to keep both at table
Prime Rib resembled being yesterday’s roast just heated
Salad was not fresh and way overdressed
When concerns shared staff did not seem to care at all
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but that’s where it begins and ends
Good service. Nice view of the riverfront on their patio.
This is the second time I have been to the chart house in Savannah. We had a group of seven and everyone enjoyed all aspects of the evening. The prime rib had great flavor and the seafood dishes were delicious. The desserts were excellent. The best part of the evening was the service.
Service was very, very slow and the restaurant was not at capacity (top and middle floors basically empty.
From the moment we entered the restaurant something seemed wrong. We told three people at the hostess station that we had a reservation. The first ran away saying she’d be back. The second told us we’d have to wait if we wanted to sit outside (which we hadn’t asked about) and then answered the phone. The third asked if we had registered and started from scratch to finally seat us. Then we waited a long time before anyone came to even offer water. Our server introduced herself and we never saw her again. Servers kept changing and everything took a long time coming. The soup was barely warm, the fish was ok but not worth the price. Dessert took more than 30 minutes with no one ever checking on us. After we grew restless and started looking around, the manager finally arrived with dessert and apologized for the delay saying it had been crazy there. Not sure why—the restaurant was not full. She didn’t charge for the dessert which was good because besides being late it didn’t have much flavor.
Overall excellent experience. Food was great as well as service and ambience.
Good food but the server was a bit slow and seemed to be confused
Had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation. Would have been longer if I had not gone to hostess to ask. Food was very average.
Great food and drinks with a riverfront view. The chocolate dessert was excellent.
The Savannah Chart House has a well deserved reputation as one of the very best restaurants in the city
The location overlooks the Savannah River with outdoor deck dining and indoor areas with fireplaces
The service is great, attentive and friendly
The food is fresh and well prepared and the presentations are creative and unique
The Chart House is a fine dining restaurant and well worth the trip and cost
Great service, food, location and outdoor seating river view is fabulous. My server was Mercedes.... sit in her section... she’s great
The Chart House is one of my favorite places to dine! Always a great meal!
The hosts were super helpful and really great! Food was amazing and sitting on the porch was great for soaking in the Savannah vibes.
Food, location, ambience were all good. Service was not as good as I would expect for a restaurant of this price/quality
I ordered the prime ribs and it was warm at best! Told server to heat it up — took too long to get the meal returned and it was Luke warm then and not too tasty. The server must have been new. Never received my side order of asparagus ordered too. Let me just say it was a very poor experience!
The quality of the food was excellent. The wait service was poor..
The food is average. The service is average. It does have a nice location where you can at least partially see the river. Parking was a challenge as well. Nothing we ate was great. It was at best OK. Then, you get the check and realize you could have gotten the same meal for a fraction of the price at a chain restaurant. This was my first and last visit.
