My husband and I went for lunch on one of the first nice days in February. The view was great and the ambiance was relaxing and quiet. Our waitstaff were professional. The food was fantastic. I would definitely eat the prime rib french dip again and the crab cakes were delicious and unlike any I have ever had. The price was high but we knew it would be so we went prepared.

View was amazing! Food was great! Our waitress was snotty and terribly inattentive! Tables around us seemed to be getting great service so I took it very personally.

Gorgeous view, delightful food, friendly efficient waiter, BUT...
-The noise level is really quite high. It makes it nearly impossible for aging ears to hear one another (our regular group has an average in the mid seventies).
-We repeatedly request to eat in the quiet space of the Totem Room, but have been seated in the louder regular space the past several visits. There has not been even the hint of an apology from the hostess that the request is not being filled. (The reception at the visit on 2/18 was several notches below friendly—basically acknowledging that we had arrived and telling us that we were "checked in.")

At a table for eight the noise level was high. It was difficult to converse with anyone not sitting directly across the table or adjacent.

My wife and I had our anniversary! We do not go out much so this was by far the best night we’ve had in a long time! First off the valet parking so we did not have to deal with the stress of finding a parking spot. Then, we asked for a window seat which they allowed us to wait at the bar until ready. There we met some incredible bartenders that really started our night. Karlee and Eric were the best. They kept great conversation and allowed my wife and I to feel safe in a new environment! Soo Many incredible staff. We felt like we met new friends and cannot wait for the next time we go! Food was soooo good! best calamari by far! Emma who hosted was awesome as well! Even got our waiter to do the dab for us lol also customized menus saying happy anniversary on them. Absolutely amazing experience! Highly recommend fellas if your looking to take your wife out!

Appreciated that we were seated first of those who had 5 o’clock reservations. Feel it was due to being Landry members, not always our experience.
Our favorite place for fish, like the different choices.

Everything was perfect. My prime rib was not quite as tender as I like, but okay. Everyone else loved their meals. Steak, mani mahi, coconut prawns and the calimari starter. Some loved the wicked tuna starter. Looked wonderful, but I don’t do spicy. The plain rains served with the tuna were great. The desserts were huge and delicious and definitely shareable—cheesecake, mud pie, raspberry sorbet and crepe brûlée. Our waiter was very attentive, but gave us privacy to visit. No rushing. 😊❤️. We’re going back with friends for lunch tomorrow. 😊😊😊

Food was fantastic and by sitting at a window table we could see the Portland skyline and waterfront which added to the romantic evening that I had planned for my wife! We would highly recommend and adventure there but be prepared to spend some money. Our Valentines special 3-course dinner was $140 total without wine but we left full and can't say enough about the quality of the food.

As we got sat the waiter spilled water all over me and the table. They replaced everything all of the table. Sat down spilled water all over the table again. Again we had to get up wait u til they changed everything again. Didn’t apologize no manager came to say anything. They just replaced the waiter cuz he was to embarrassed and pretended like nothing ever happened. The food took long to come out it came out cold. Again brought out the check didn’t offer anything to make up for all these inconveniences not even dessert or drinks. Not happy at all with the service and food was brought cold. What a Valentines dinner should look like? I’m sorry but none of this was professional for a restaurant that supposedly more higher end. No Thanks you don’t recommend coming here.

My wife and I came for a special celebration - first time at the Chart House. The view was spectacular! The food was good. The service was terrible! We got there early so that we could see the view while still daylight and we enjoyed having a window seat. The room we were in was mostly empty when we got there - it filled up after a half hour to an hour later. Our server was pleasant, but so inattentive that we spent the entire meal trying to flag him down and then waiting for him to finally deliver the various things that we needed to go with our meal. The food was served warm, but was cold by the time we got what we needed to go with it, which was a shame! We noticed many of the servers just seemed to be standing around chatting a great deal of the time, which suggests that they weren't overly busy and yet, our server was nowhere to be found whenever we needed him. He did not ask if we wanted more bread. He did not ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. He never asked how things were going or if we needed anything or even if we liked the food. In fact, he seemed to stay away as much as possible and only came to the table when he finally showed up in the room and we waived at him to get his attention. At the end, we sat and waited for 5-10 minutes after finishing our meal and drinks before the waiter finally came by and when we asked him for the check, only then did he ask if we wanted something else. Really?! Honestly, we've had good food at Red Robin's (although not gourmet), MUCH better service, and we could have gone to dinner five times at Red Robin's for what we paid for dinner at the Chart House. My feeling is that if you are going to spend that much money on a special occasion, you really should be entitled to good service, and for what those servers receive in tips, I imagine those jobs should be highly sought after, so I can only assume that this is somehow a management issue. We are not likely to return to the Chart House.

Went to the chart house for Valentine’s Day and have the fillet and lobster tails the steak came over cooked and the lobster tails without butter although the butter was rectified and they appeared willing to replace the stake. The steak was good nonetheless and the company was the best part

For a high end restaurant specializing in seafood to have farmed salmon and not have halibut was rediculous. You go for the view, don’t go for the food. Much better seafood at McCormick and Schmicks. Sorely disappointed

The entire bar was closed on a busy day. The hostess was unfeeling and rude about it. An overall attitude of arrogance. I guess they don't want new customers.

We just barely made our reservation because of traffic and the host was not nice. First I introduced myself and she wasn’t very pleasant. Her verbiage and attitude was short and told me it was going to be a 10 minute. I went and sat down for a few minutes and came back up. I then asked her if there was a chance if we could get a window seat. Her response was “as you can see we are all full.” I was just really kind of puzzled for being our first visit and also there for our anniversary on how well she presented the restaurant. I was hoping it would get better.
Thank god it did. The food was great. We had the Bone Marrow, Beet and Arugula salad, Prime Rib, Ahi Tuna and the Apple Dried Cherry Crumble.
Our waitress was wonderful, the view was good from our table(not a window seat), restaurant was quite and great feel. It was also wonderful not to have to worry about parking. Free valet parking.

My wife & I came on the day before Valentines Day, were seated when we arrived at a window seat, great view. The server “JP” was really friendly and seemed more than willing to accommodate whatever you could reasonably expect. The food is expensive, but I don’t think I have ever had a better steak. When it is brought out they stand right there and almost insist that you cut it open to check whether or not it’s cooked to your satisfaction. They don’t make you feel uncomfortable if it’s not to your liking. Overall an excellent experience.

Salmon was excellent; the view of Portland, the mountains, and the lights of the city after darkness was superb. Service was excellent. The lava cake dessert was disappointing in flavor and size. The decaf coffee was horrible—very weak (resembled tea), not hot enough, and not at all worth the cost. The complimentary valet parking was a great help, attendants were super friendly and helpful.

Usually I give 5 stars for everything here!! Tonight was a little off. The waiter wasn’t around much. My crab legs still had flakes of ice in two larger portions, not steamed thoroughly, so didn’t get to enjoy some nice sections. I’d have returned them if a waiter had come around to check on us. We were fine with our meal by the time he returned, and then waited another long period for the check. This isn’t the norm for chart house. They’re usually on top of everything! And they have the best crab legs in Portland... normally.

As our traditional favorite spot to celebrate our anniversary, we were not disappointed. From the cordial welcoming by the front desk, to the efficient wait staff, it was a lovely evening. The talented chef provided a culinary delight, thoroughly enjoyed.
I have only one suggestion and that would be that since my husband chooses to be the designated driver, I would appreciate a few more chardonnays that are available by the glass, ( i.e. Franciscan.)
Other than that we highly recommend the Chart House.

Each time we have visited the Chart House, we have enjoyed the experience. The food is always high quality, and it is often very busy, suggesting others also feel the same.

This particular visit the only concern I would have was the wait time at the bar while waiting for your table. We arrived on time for our reservation and was informed of a 15-minute delay. We chose to head downstairs for the bar, grab a drink while we wait. The bar was overwhelmed with both wait staff getting orders for tables, along with people looking for drinks - suggesting they could have done with one or two more folks behind the bar to help out. In the end, we were taken to our table, and the drinks we ordered at the bar were brought up to us.

All in all, though, that's only a small item, considering the remainder of the night went very well, with the food being amazing, and the view through the windows spectacular.
