    Our 49th anniversary dinner at the Chart House was really memorable. The service was excellent, there was a lovely view of Monterey Bay from most every table and the food was really wonderful. We tried the Coconut Shrimp and Brie & Fig en Croute (really delicious!) and then the Sweet & Spicy Halibut and the Apple Jack White Sea Bass. Both fish were fresh and tender, cooked perfectly and the sauces were excellent. We topped it off with a delectable Chocolate Lava cake fresh out of the oven (you need to order it up front!). Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive with a wonderful upbeat attitude. Everything we ordered was superb. It all made for a lovely and memorable experience. I would highly recommend the Chart House in Monterey for those special occasions when the details matter!

    After we were seated it was close to ten minutes before our waitress acknowledged us and took our drink order. Next, I had to remind her to bring our bread by hailing her. The food was delicious and my teriyaki steak was cooked perfectly. Our waitress brought the check and we were not charged for our salad bar visits. She made the adjustment, we paid and went our way. We live about two hours away and visit the Chart House often and really enjoy it but this time the service was off and it took some of the luster off of our visit. Sincerely, Brent Peart.

    Celebrating our anniversary, we were seated at their best table with a fabulous view of the water. The food was amazing, my husband had prime rib and we couldn't believe how reasonable the price. His meal came with a delicious dessert enough for us to share. We arrived real early, but they were able to seat us so we didn't have to wait. We had a wonderful time!

    It was a very busy evening which was unexpected as it was thanksgiving. We had a reservation which we were sat 30min after our designated time . That’s really the only bummer part of the evening.

    First time visiting and it was Thanksgiving evening, so hopefully this was the reason for the poor experience. We had an 8pm reservation and the hostess said they were behind schedule. Understood. We ended up finding a spot at the bar and dined there. The bartender was polite and helpful and that was the highlight of the evening. The food was overpriced for the quality and we were left underwhelmed. This place did not meet or exceed our expectations.

    We were never informed that the menu was paired down. Not to mention when we arrived we were told there was a 45 min backlog in being seated. The bar was full so we had to wait in our car. We come to Monterey 4 times a year and eat at this restaurant. This was special as it was our 30th wedding anniversary.

    Made reservations for 615. Showed up 10 mins early. Due to Thanksgiving dinner, I expected delays. Hostess told me that it will be a 35-45 minute wait. They told us that they will text us once the table is ready. Didn’t receive a text or a phone call all night. Thank God the hotel next to the restaurant took us around 730. I recommend Schooners restaurant at the Monterey Plaza Hotel. Good service with a nice view.

    RE: Thanksgivng Day dinner--the restaraunt was NOT prepared for the onslaughtof diners--surely they must have generous;ly over booked.. We had 6PM reservation. We were called at 6:46--got seated about 6:50. It took another 7 minutes to get my barely cool, NOT COLD, Fat Lip Amber Lager draught--which tasted flat and stale. Our waiter tried his best, but the kitchen was very backed up, etc. My wife's selection of the Shrimp-Lobster carbonara was very tasty and the portion--generous. My truffle encrusted Mahi while good tasting was a micro serving portion. The sides and desert were good. Overall: "eh" it was ok.--might be better on a midweek slow(er) night.

    We were seated about 50 minutes after our reservation; this was after being told they were running about 20-25 minutes behind. Better to underpromise and overdeliver. After we were seated the service was great and food excellent overall. My service ratings are for the restaurant overall and not our server.

    First Thanksgiving in 30+ years without hosting, so we reserved a table at Chart House, Monterey. My wife had the shrimp/lobster carbonara, which she really enjoyed, and I ordered the prime rib dinner. Both dinners came with soup or salad and a dessert for the fixed price of $59, and we would return to Chart House again. It WAS a bit of a wait for our reserved table (about 30-40 minutes) as they were slammed, but we waited in the bar, watched a bit of football and chilled.

    Title: Thanksgiving Delight at Chart House, Monterey Review: My family and I decided to celebrate Thanksgiving at Chart House, Monterey, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was bustling with energy, a testament to its popularity on this special occasion. However, the wait staff's eagerness to clear our plates before we were quite ready was a bit disruptive to our dining experience. Considering our table was only for two, it would have been more considerate to allow us to savor our meal at our own pace. Despite this minor hiccup, the food was absolutely delectable. My mother, a discerning critic of Caesar salads, noted that hers tasted slightly premade, as if it had been prepared earlier in the day. However, the rest of our dishes were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor and satisfying our Thanksgiving cravings. The most captivating aspect of our dining experience was the stunning view of the ocean. The crashing waves and the vast expanse of blue provided a serene backdrop to our meal, making it a truly memorable Thanksgiving celebration. Overall Recommendation: Chart House, Monterey, is an excellent choice for a special occasion dining experience. The food is delectable, the views are breathtaking, and the atmosphere is vibrant. While there are a few areas for improvement in the service department, the overall experience is well worth it. We highly recommend this restaurant for your next dining adventure in Monterey.

    We had a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner and I thought we were not treated as well as we have in competing restaurants, or as well as at other Landry’s properties. I felt service was a minimum. We were seated by the bar, next to people that had no reservations, we also are Landry’s members, and didn’t feel valued. We waited 5-10 minutes for our waiter, the manager even asked if we had been helped yet. I just don’t feel service was commensurate with the restaurant. We had to remind the waiter to bring drinks - he and the bus man were too busy talking in the corner and playing with and breaking wine glasses on other empty tables. Reservation was for a birthday, birthday award came off the bill but not a word of welcome or acknowledgement from the waiter.

    Service was good. They were as attentive as can be for how busy they were. Felt rushed at times. Seated 15-20 minutes after reservation time. Appetizer and coconut shrimp entree good. King Salmon with golden beet risotto was sub par. Big cut of salmon, great. Risotto was mushed down on the plate to fill up space on the plate and beet arugula salad was sparse. Not worth the price.

    Arrived early for our reservation. Sat at the bar to enjoy a drink. Monarch margarita was flavorful, while the old fashion was a little disappointing (no orange peel, regular ice instead of a craft ice) Food clam chowder and shrimp cocktail was delicious, steak and lobster was amazing, the lobster & shrimp carbonara was a bit too salty to enjoy. Service was attentive.

    We travel to Monterey for Business quarterly and a friend recommended the Chart House. We were so surprised when we were presented an anniversary menu custom for us, upon our arrival. We were seated at a two tip with an incredible water view. The seats have cushions, and are comfortable. Nate our server was friendly and efficient without being intrusive. We ate here once before in July and we enjoyed it so much we returned. We ordered Prime Rib and Miso Salmon. It was presented well, and hot and then portions were ample. The sides are very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I’m a decerning patron as we owned a restaurant in Chicago. Do yourself a favor and visit this well managed restaurant when you grace Monterey with your presence.🦀🫶🏽👏

    This is just one of our many trips to chart house. I think it speaks for itself if we keep coming back. Always a great experience. Food is delicious and service is always excellent. I think in all the times we’ve been there, going back 20+ years we’ve only had a somewhat less than stellar experience once, but clearly that didn’t stop us from coming back. All the waiters are amazing but a few stick out the most. Garrett is amazing and an extreme asset to chart house, we’ve had Alyssa who was equally amazing and so friendly. We’ve also had Damian who we were told was very popular among guests and was requested quite often. We quickly saw why. Super friendly, very personable in remembering even my sons name and addressing him by name. He kept the table cleared whenever something was finished and just an all around pleasure. We will be back there next weekend.

    The Chart House has never disappointed me. I love the nostalgic wood decor and the view is impeccable. Fortunately we were seated at my favorite table overlooking the flood-lit rocks and surf. The service was efficient and pleasant. The salad bar is excellent with enough selections to more than fill you. We had a very good prime rib and a nicely prepared king salmon. Too full for the lava cake! Strongly recommend for a nice night out at a price a bit below some of the higher end places that don’t have any tastier food.

    Arrived excited about revisiting an old favorite. Waited 15 minutes beyond our reservation because they were behind. After being seated, we sat unacknowledged for over 25 minutes. Our server was at the table behind us for a lot of the time, talking racquetball with a cute customer. He then disappeared for quite some time, returning with her dessert, then still ignoring us. During this time, the dining room manager looked our way several times, but did nothing. After 25 minutes of sitting alone, with no recognition, water or bread, we left. I’ve worked in the business and know this is poor customer service and poor training. We walked down the street to the Whaling Station and had a fabulous meal with amazing service. Won’t make this mistake again.

    Always a fantastic experience dining here. The ambiance of the restaurant reminds me of steakhouses of time gone by which is so hard to find anymore. Excellent food, great service and breathtaking view of the bay.

    Food was very good, although a bit pricey. When I reserved I indicated it was my friend’s birthday and I quietly reminded the hostess at check in. I was very disappointed that there was not a complimentary desert for her or any sort of birthday greeting from our waiter. My friend has had a very difficult year so I drove up to Monterey to celebrate her birthday with her and her care-giving son. We have celebrated past occasions there together, so I was disappointed for her.

    We have dinner at the Chart House every time we're in Monterey, and we have never been disappointed. The view is great, the food is outstanding, and the ambiance is quiet and romantic. Definitely get the chocolate lava cake :)

    The food was very good. However from arriving the welcome and service was poor we arrived for dinner it could have been completed in 40min. Our main arrived when we were still finishing the starter. Fast food style. Would not recommend if you want dinner as a experience great if you in a hurry.

    This Chart House Monterey has No Management on Premises, the Food is Terrible Our server Christal was Terrible ‼️ We ordered a Prime Rib medium rare and it was served Well Done‼️ We ordered 2 Glasses of wine and after waiting 20 minutes with no wine, We asked for our bill, which took another 20 minutes ❓And our bill included the 2 glasses of wine that we never received , the bill was corrected and we paid and ran out the restaurant.
