    We were celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary. We were taking a few days on the coast in San Clemente. It couldn't be be any more perfect. The server greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary" The window table with the view of the harbor was stunning. I ordered the lobster bisque as did my husband and it was great. I had the prime rib which actually melted in my mouth. It was done to order and the lava cake was divine. My husband had crab stuffed sole. He said it had a smokey flavor and it was well prepared with veggies. Our Anniversary dinner was perfect in every way. It is a romantic chic place for a special occasion. The service was friendly and the waitress treated us very well! I would recommend the Chart House in Dana Point for any romantic special occasion.

    Eveything was great for our group. The best view and seafood! Waters were always refilled. Highly recommend the beet salad. Kimchi calamari was pleasantly different. Substitutions asparagus for the mashed potatoes was worth it. We did have to wait a bit for our outside dessert I brought. Lava cake was decadent. Valet parking was prompt. Only negative was that a couple of guests facing the rear door saw rats outside.

    Great views of Dana Point harbor and the service is really good - the staff is very friendly and attentive. TL;DR you’re paying for the view, not necessarily the food. We all ordered different fish items and they were overall ok - unfortunately, the sea bass was way over salted. There was an inadequate amount of broth in the steamed mussels, so they were quite dry and multiple shells on the plate were completely closed. The romaine lettuce in the salad didn’t look or taste very fresh and the dressing lacked flavor. The homemade ice cream was delicious, though! The parking is difficult unless you valet and there’s a big tripping hazard at the entrance where my 90+ mom fell - watch the signage and be cautious! If anyone has a mobility issue in your party, you need to specifically request parking in the underground garage. The main entrance is not ADA accessible and there are stairs that must be taken down to the restaurant - no elevator.

    We were seated at a very nice “window” table. Both of us ordered the $57.00 special. It was delicious. It was my husband’s birthday so they gave him a piece of mocha pie and the special included lava cake with ice cream. So yummy!! We enjoyed our dinner very much.

    It took over 2 hours to get our food. After waiting an hour for our dinner we told the waitress we needed to leave soon. It was another hour before our dinner came and another 45 minutes after that before our dessert came.

    Food and service were great. Too many flies and gnats at the table. Dining room was very warm. Were there issues with the HVAC?

    Excellent as always. Service was superb, friendly, we were given the time to have a drink, some appetizers and dinner was very well done.

    Food is always very good at the Chart House...the beet salad was especially good. Slight mix up and my birthday award was not used as I had asked for it to be used.
