Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Our absolute favorite restaurant on Hilton Head. Has been ever since we moved to the island 28 years ago. The extensive number of fish entrees on the menu is always amazing & all are always delicious. Our only complaint is that Charlie's has become so popular that reservations need to be made at least 3 or 4 weeks in advance.

Excellent menu variety and wine options. Service is always attentive, our server Leticha was absolutely the BEST! Parking is tight, but you can park next door or across the street.

My wife and I have dined at some wonderful restaurants from Windows on the World to La Chèvre d'Or in the Village of Eze, France. We live in Hilton Head now and finally made it to Charlie’s for our 44th anniversary. It was the best meal we have had on the island by far, and in our top 10 in the last ten years. My blackened redfish was the best I’ve had.

tres mangnifique could not have hoped for a more enjoyable dinner the service from all involved was friendly/courteous and attentive, all the while considerate of conversations my wife and i were having the menu choices of the day were all enticing - and we settled for multiple courses the soups were outstanding - she crab and chilled avocado with crab the bread and butter was not necessary but helped us clean every morsel out our soup bowls we were then surprised with a light salad with a bright/flavorful dressing the mains were well prepared and plentiful - mahi with delicious potato/au gratin and green beans and a lamb shank with a nice rich au jus and sliced red potatoes the killer finish was the fresh key lime pie with fruit - such a palate cleanser and fantastic way to finish a fantastic meal there are a few good dining spots on hhi, but charlie's ranks at the very top
