Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Our dinners were delicious and we loved sitting outside in the charming patio pavilion. Everything we had was great! Charlie’s is one of our favorite restaurants!

Our experience at Charlie's, our favorite restaurant on the island, was a bit less than wonderful. We have been patrons for years, and we were disappointed at the extremely slow service and food delivery. We arrived at 5:15, placed an order for a bottle of wine at 5:20, and ordered our food at about 5:30. It took 20 minutes for the salad to arrive. Our entrees were finally delivered at close to 6:30! We have never, as in never, had to wait so long there. The food was wonderful, but the extremely late service was quite off-putting and very annoying.

Had only been previously for a lunch. The evening lived up to expectations. Our waitress, Latisha, was engaging and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the flounder and monkfish. We’ll be back!

I’ve been a fan of Charlie’s forever. They have been a 5 star restaurant since we started coming there for lunch and dinner in the early 70’s. The food, service and ambiance have been consistently first class. Today I was with my long- time friend from Chicago I was so happy to have Michelle as our server. She is excellent. Food excellently prepared. Love the restaurant!
