Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

I’ve been a fan of Charlie’s forever. They have been a 5 star restaurant since we started coming there for lunch and dinner in the early 70’s. The food, service and ambiance have been consistently first class. Today I was with my long- time friend from Chicago I was so happy to have Michelle as our server. She is excellent. Food excellently prepared. Love the restaurant!

Most varied selection of seafood dishes on HHI. Menu changes daily so never get tired of it. Excellent preparation of very fresh seafood.

The last several years we've enjoyed visiting Hilton Head for a week of rest, relaxation and wonderful seafood. Our favorite restaurant is Charlie's. It's a date night destination but also casual. It is superbly run and besides the wonderful food, we also enjoy visiting with our favorite server, Lucas, who has been there 16 years. He is a great young man, personable and knowledgeable about each and every dish. How good is Charlie's? Well every time we visit, we make sure to dine there at least twice that week. Thx Charlie's, you're an absolute treasure!

This was our first visit. We arrived at 5 pm, as the restaurant was opening . There was a large queue of people waiting. We were all seated within minutes. Service was prompt, efficient, but never intrusive or rushed. Noise level was low - it was easy to carry on a conversation. The food was simply outstanding. Scallops and monkfish expertly prepared. Generous portions. Delicious. Vegetables complimented the main item - they were more than just an afterthought. Overall a delightful, excellent experience. Will certain return on our next visit to Hilton Head.

The entire dining experience was first class. The food was fresh and pleasing to the eye and palate. The turtle cheese cake was the best I’ve ever had. The GM came to the table. It was a super pleasant experience

As usual, just the very best fish restaurant on HHI. It just seems more commercial than it used to be as opposed to fine dining. Very crowded and high noise level. Waitress was fine but seemed to have too many tables.
