   Our whole experience at Charcut University District was outstanding. We went there for an anniversary dinner and the staff helped to make it a great celebration dinner. We will be back!

   We were so excited to try the University District Charcut (having loved the downtown location for years), but overall the steak quality / prep was poor and left us with a sub-par experience on Saturday night. As group of 6, we ordered family style and were intrigued (and recommended) to try the Bistecca Bone-In Alberta Beef Ribeye for $145. We ordered it medium rare and what came looked like it had been sous vide or boiled, was chewy and overall a very gristley piece of meat. Had we not been time restricted, we would've sent it back. All other dishes, zucchini salad, potatoes, charred tomatoes, rosatella & rotolo pastas were delicious -- we would've ordered more of these (serving size of each probably feeds 2 max). We were disappointed that the main dish couldn't keep up with the sides! We'd love to try the restaurant again and hope that it was just an off cut of beef or even an off night in the kitchen.

   We had a wonderful experience celebrating my husband’s birthday at CHARCUT. They made it extra special with a birthday balloon at our table and a complimentary round of champagne. The croquettes and tomato/cheese appetizers were outstanding, and the steaks were delicious. The crispy potatoes were good, though a bit strong in fat flavor for my taste. Overall, a fantastic night with great food and thoughtful touches!

   We really liked the food and thought that the selection was good.  however, when a restaurant does small and large plates that are meant to share, typically they make sure to stagger the dishes to come at an appropriate time. This was not the case for our visit to CHARCUT. All of our dishes were brought simultaneously which left very little room for any plates and made the eating experience a little uncomfortable. In the future, it may be nice to provide guests with an option of whether they would like meals to come all at once or staggered prior to putting in orders. Alternatively, they could also notify guests that all dishes come at once so that they can order appropriately.

   Side dish potatoes undercooked and under salted, main chicken was over cooked and dry, and initial bill was wrong - nearly overcharged by almost twice the amount it should have been. Overall a disappointing dining experience.

   Service was great, food was good, we had 12oz of prime rib cooked medium, roasted potatoes, bone marrow, zucchini salad, chenin blanc and a beer. We celebrated a birthday. Would like to try other items on the menu next time
