The Charcoal Steak House is an independent local steakhouse serving the Waterloo region community for over 65 years. Enjoy AAA Steaks, richly marbled wagyu, slow roasted prime rib, fresh seafood, mouth-watering pig tails, legendary smoked ribs and more. At lunch we feature an extensive menu with burgers, sandwiches, bowls and healthy salad choices.

Sundays are made for Brunch from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Our Martinis Bar with summer patio offers the full Steak House menu or light meals in a more casual setting. Enjoy appetizers, a full meal, 20 beers on tap and beautiful outdoor seating area in summer.

My wife and I just love the vibe of the place. Food is always great. My rum and coke always tastes great (not a guarantee at most places). It's our go to when we feel like celebrating.

A most enjoyable evening . Luckily we chose two mains that proved sufficient and more than generous in serving size. My partner had the filet mignon which he said was delicious . My tatami glazed salmon was an excellent choice with mandarin kung pao sauce that could easily get top marks Creme brûlée was my partner’s choice to finish our meal and he was not disappointed! The Charcoal and their excellent staff have always provided us with excellent service .

Amazing. My favourite restaurant in the KW area. Staff is so professional. Food is always excellent. The atmosphere is great. A definite go to place if you are in the neighbourhood.

A gluten-free vegan, a lactose-intolerant pescatarian, and a carnivore walk into a restaurant... Not a joke, but a wonderful experience! First off, all the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Our server, Cora, was pleasant and engaging, with a great sense of humour. But what about the food, you ask? Excellent, as usual! And we had both of the vegan desserts that we all could enjoy: a delicious crème brulée, and a magnificently decadent Belgian chocolate mousse. We had a great evening, and highly recommend Charcoal to anyone and everyone!

We have been going to Charcoals for many years to celebrate our wedding anniversary and have noticed the clientele has declined. The table beside us were loud, using foul language and one person was secretly vaping. T-shirts, ragged jeans and baseball caps just don’t fit well in what was once an upscale dinning experience. Whether it be an outside patio or inside. We enjoyed the food and service was fantastic.

We had our regular monthly dinner at the Charcoal and it was excellent. The service from Zoe was exceptional, please give her a raise. I had the Japanese shrimp and mini beef wellingtons and they were both delicious. We are never disappointed when we dine at Charcoal.
