    One of the worst experiences we’ve had at a restaurant. Food was awful. Presentation was like I was at a Morton’s. Literally like at a meat and three lunch spot. Steak wasn’t seasoned at all. Waitress was extremely rude. Will never be back!

    Char has some of the best food in Jackson, Mississippi! The staff was exceptional - friendly, and helpful.  The vegetable selection was unbelievable. I ordered the four vegetable plate with cornbread. It was very good.

    Arrived a bit early but very pleasant hostess seated us immediately. Our server greeted us without a smile and not tell us her name. We ordered wine which was very good. After a bit we both ordered the ribeye with salads and side of onion rings. About 15 minutes later the salads were served and before either us had more than a couple of bites, the steaks and onion rings came out. We refused them because we were just getting started with the salads. What restaurant does that? Once we finished the salads, the steaks and rings were served. Both of us ordered ribeyes medium rare. They were cooked medium and I did wonder if they were sitting under a warming lamp until the we finished salads? The kicker was the steaks were a little tough and had very little flavor. My guess is the cut was a lower grade choice at best. I could not eat the rings because they were too salty. My father ate a few. So the bright spots of this meal were the very pleasant hostess, the wine and my wedge salad which was the best I’ve had. It had been a few years since we ate at Char, but back in the day they were a first class restaurant with delicious steaks and sides etc. My father and I were celebrating Fathers Day and we enjoyed each other’s company but the meal, not so much.

    Char is a lovely and lively restaurant. Very popular with locals. We had a great experience. Coretta was our server. She is a wonderful asset to Char. Highly recommend her and Char!

    It was a great time, great experience. The atmosphere was nice. The only think that I could complain about was that the server looked a little stressed but I can’t blame her. She did a great job regardless. Afterwards me and my girlfriend talked about rating it, she said it was a 10/10 for her and I’d say it was a 9/10 for me. It’s only a 9/10 because it took a little bit long to get served but nothing unreasonable. It was great regardless!
