Place is beautiful this is my third time enjoying myself
Rob Wright and his team have this place jumping on Sundays. The food is amazing and the environment is safe. Its a great place to be for a day party!
It was fun for my birthday!
After having a bad experience I reviewed this place and was assaulted with accusations that I was wearing something fake. I really just wanted to be reached out to and the issue be made better; because I really do understand how the restaurant industry is right now. I’m very disheartened by the way I was treated and I fell like race and sexuality played a part. I will not come back to this establishment and I wish them the best. I hate that I was shown hate and disrespect for something that could have been easily rectified.
Service was great. Food was ok. Mimosa was orange juice filled.
This is not a restaurant. This is a nightclub. We are in the middle of a pandemic and all restaurants in Houston except this one know that. I went to eat alone....I parked with the valet and was seated near the bar area. On the other side of the bar area were shoulder to shoulder people not wearing masks....being loud and drinking.....my waitress was hard to find every time.....but the worst part was I was charged $30 for valet! I haven’t paid that at some of Houstons most upscale restaurants! Not only were the valet unprofessional- they made me Cashapp their fee when I only had $18 cash (assuming valet for a restaurant on a weekday would be around $10) .....there’s no “price” posted anywhere so beware of valet guys and beware of Covid at this establishment. Not cool. Food is simple. I got Eggrolls, steak and margaritas. The drink was undrinkable- so tart- the steak was dry. I also got chips and queso to go. Best items: French fries that go with the steak and the chips that go with the queso. I live 3 mins from this place.....on an 18 month lease....and unless I have a coronavirus vaccine and I’m walking...I will not return.
So much fun!!! The drinks, music, and crowd was dope!
Went for Sunday Brunch and the food was mediocre to average at best and portions very small. I had chicken and waffles and I’m certain the waffles where the same one I purchased in the pastry aisle at Sam’s. The live DJ was nice but the music was so loud I could not hear my server nor could me and wife hold a conversation.
Outdoors seating is bottle service only and hopefully you get to sit at the picnic tables. Indoor seating is timed so eat fast. Drinks are strong sometimes depending on who’s making them. Very crowded, Great atmosphere and DJ was great.
Amazing experience. Food was great. Service was amazing.
My 1st time in Houston ! Great brunch spot ! Very affordable! Highly recommend reservations
This is really nice place with a very unique and eclectic menu. For example, as an appetizer we had ceviche, and then our entrée was chicken fried steak.
Good social place to hang out and mingle with friends.
Waitress was excellent as far as service. Food wise I wouldn’t revisit! Steak was tough and food wasn’t hot. Ordered a mimosa which had more juice vs champagne. Ambiance is great ...music etc but it’s a no for the food.
First time. Ambiance was good. The food was not. Cool place to be, but don’t go hungry.
Great staff! No wait overall awesome experience
I loved it! Will definitely be back for another Sunday Funday!
This was the second time I have been to Chapman and Kirby. I live the atmosphere and have enjoyed some good food. The first visit was great but the staff was definitely new and it did take some time. I remover the server said it was her first day. I used to be in the food service industry so I allowed for that. Again overall the first visit was great. I made my second visit the evening of 9/26/20 around 8pm. There was little traffic and but it did appear they were preparing for a reserved birthday party of some sort. We were sat in the back corner booth next to the main bar and restroom and that is when it begin. It took a bit to get someone’s attention to get our drink order and took longer to get our drinks. The young lady again appeared to be new as she did not know the very limited short menu of food or drinks. I left it it’s that and proceeded to order our food. First my guests pizza came out quick and then followed by our appetizer which was ordered first. I had ordered a chicken fried steak which I never received. We litteraly enjoyed our pizza and appetizer but never was attended to after that. It became obvious that the young lady had become overwhelmed by multiple other tables and was never able to get her attention. Finally I got up and went to the bar to ask for a manager but not to necessarily complain but wanted to pay and leave. I mentioned that I never received my my answer just wanted to go. He did apologize and had meal removed from the bill and just laid and left. Again the food and atmosphere was great but the new hires and lack of attentiveness for service was sub par at least. I did notice two other tables complaining about service on our way our. I will probably return but will not be a top 3 for choices or recommend in the future.
We didn’t even order drinks. Hostess sat us at 3 different tables and the final table we were sat at was right next to a large party and none of them had a mask on. They could have sat us further from all of the people standing with no masks.
We didn’t even order before we left because it was too uncomfortable and just rude for us to have been sat those close to them.
We went on a Thursday for Jazz night, it was amazing! The band was killer, the staff was friendly, the ambience was sexy! I will say they do not have a large selection for food but from what we did eat, it was delicious. We will definitely be back.
Was not happy with menu it changed from my last visit had my mouth ready for the egg Benedict.
It was TOO loud in there. The food was not very good at all. The only reason they have 2 stars is the service was good. Our waitress was really nice. The drink was terrible. I ordered a mimosa carafe and had to order a carafe of champagne only to combat the thickness of the mixed carafe. The juice was so heavy that we barely used it at all & it served as a topper to the champagne. There were no visible bubbles in the mimosa... that is how thick it was with juice. The experience was an overall let down and I had heard such great things. I have no desire to return unless I eat before I come.
Sunday Brunch was just okay... The mimosas are not strong at all so steer clear or just order straight champagne. The drink menu online isn’t up to date so have a few options in mind. The food comes out in about 10 minutes, super quick, but also means it’s probably not necessarily fresh, made to order. The ambiance is great, live dj & the service was outstanding. Prices are at a standard $15-$20 per entree.
Waffle way to small with the chicken strips. Ask for well done steak way undercooked.
Way to much pineapple in the Monosa.
But I will give Chapman & Kirby another try.
This was a recommendation by a colleague. I was celebrating my birthday and wanted to get out but to a place I could feel safe to do so. The restaurant is large and spacious and the guidelines in regards to spacing were being followed. Pleasant staff and our waitstaff that day was outstanding! My friend and I loved the vibe the minute we walked in and were set to chill, have great conversation, adult libations and a fantastic brunch! We ordered mimosas and first sip and I’m like, did they forget the champagne to our server? My friend stayed, “what! wait, if she’s questioning is liquor is in a drink something is wrong. She hates an overpowering drink”.
We ordered from what we felt was a limited brunch menu but we didn’t trip because we understand the many ramifications of COVID on the industry. However, in my opinion this means whatever you do have access to should be off the chart in taste and presentation!
The location, decor, music and customer service without question was great. Food and beverage sorely lacking. It’s a great place if you’re into being seen and wanting to be seen and the goal is not an exceptional meal.
So I’ve been to C&K before and I thought the food was ok...but I said I would return because I wanted to give it another shot. So I came Sunday and I reviewed the dress code because I know they have subjective rules due to different races and sexuality. The dress code said no athletic sports hats which I understand but my hat wasn’t a team I was asked to take it off...ok fine. I go back in I’m told you can leave it on. So I put it back on then I was harassed again to take it off. Not only that we showed up on time with my whole party and had to wait 20 minutes to be sat at a table that had already been open. I once sat I wasn’t greeted for 15 minutes and was being harassed by management. I think because more African Americans are coming the owners are trying to weed out people. The food is not worth the hassle it’s subpar at best and over priced. I had on a Rolex and wearing a Birkin so I would rather go somewhere I can be valued not subjected to indirect racism and homophobia! Don’t come here!
Upscale cocktail bar with a decent menu. We visited during COVID-19, so I believe there was a limited menu. Service was excellent, drinks were solid and food was good.
I made a reservation for 8 ppl. They sat us at 2 separate tables which I did not like and told us it would be an hr wait for us to sit together. What was the point of the reservation then? Secondly, the food was just okay.. nothing special about it. Thirdly, they charge $30 for a bottle of champagne or $10 for a carafe with 1/3 a bottle of champagne in it. This is pricey for brunch, especially in Houston, Tx. Our server was nice & the music was great, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning.
Waitress wore mask but there was another girl that dropped drinks off that did not have a mask on. The ambiance was cool but they played VERY loud annoying music. Food and drinks were mediocre at best.
It’s a very elegant but quaint place to be. It’s a great please to go and unwind with good drinks and great friends.
Upon arrival they they stated they stopped taking reservations at 4pm
Great vibe. Great bottle service. Great food. It was my birthday and everyone enjoyed themselves!!!
We made a reservation at 3pm and they did not seat us until 4:20pm. One host was trying to seat us and another host was purposely trying to ignore our reservation. After we were told our table was being cleaned they came back and told us they were doing bottle service only for tables. Sunday’s are completely unorganized and they are not equipped to handle the crowd they market to.
Reservation was not honored at schedule time. Folks not wearing mask
Waitress NEVER had her mask on. Never brought wAter to table until we were almost finished with our food
Overall experience was decent minus the food. I went to brunch and ordered French toast, they came out uncooked and full of batter. The waitress was amazing apologized and I then ordered steak, potatoes, and eggs and wasn’t pleased. The menu doesn’t have a lot to choose from and the options given aren’t tasteful. Oh and the mimosas were full of juice, a lot of ppl complained and the guy came and poured extra champagne in peoples glass 😏
Waitress was unorganized but nice... the doorman reinforced wearing a mask and social distancing but once you got passed him the wasn’t much restriction or corrective action... one of the managers was walking around without a mask... it was a little risky as far as the virus goes... the ambiance was great... seems like a good place to hang out once things get back to normal... food was pretty good... drinks were good as well, some a little pricey
Service was very slow. Waitress kept asking if I had my drink when clearly my table was empty came back twice. Music was good very loud. Place is nice just this day was not. I have been here for a Sade event was very nice.
It was a cool vibe! Chicken and waffles were great!
Drinks were good but noticed after leaving that we got overcharged with drinks that we did not get. Not sure if we paid for another table drinks but over charged some drinks!
