Chandler s Restaurant - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
So heartbroken, unhappy, and many other emotions that this gem is closing to be replaced by a "chain" cafeteria style restaurant. Yankee Candle is making a large mistake. This is a great place to take a break from shopping and be waited on - sans noisy children. The center of the store has plenty of room and cafeteria options for families with children already - why layoff 80 employees and gut a beautiful restaurant like this? Our group of up to 10 people annually make the pilgrimage and will be spending a lot less time shopping and more time looking for and relaxing at a restaurant that is a drive away. We made the trip for a last hurrah. Again, Yankee you are making a big mistake to get rid of this wonderful option!!
Franklin County is losing a gem! Now when I need a grinder, I won't have to go to Subway, or Sbarro, or one of the over 20 pizza places, or Wagon Wheel, or Denny's Pantry, or Brad's Place. I won't need to visit one of the many burger places. No more Riff's North for me. Nuh-uh. Phew, there's an Au Bon Pain moving in.
Where am I going to get a Christa-made dessert?! I'm sure Au Bon Pain will bake 5-layer chocolate, raspberry cake just as well as Christa. And the carrot cake.
we dined on EASTER . The buffet was extensive. Everything was tasty. It was crowded. It seemed like they may have added tables just for that day. Because it was only 2 of us we were seated next to a post with everything very close to us. Other tables, the servers tray, etc. So getting up was difficult to go to the buffet. They did have a wine special so that was a plus!
I'm not sure we'd go again on a holiday for the above reasons.
The previous visits for lunch were very satisfying so we will go again.
This was a great Easter Meal. I have been going to Chandlers for years and am very disheartened to know that it is closing, only to make way for a national chain restaurant. I am displeased that Yankee Candle (a business that was started locally) would not recognize the value in running a local business, that purchases ingredients from local farmers. Chandlers was one of the last remaining gems in our community that we could go to for good, home made food with a cozy atmosphere.
I will not be patronizing the new chain restaurant that will take its place. If I want frozen food thawed out in a microwave I can get that in a grocery store.
I wish everyone at Chandlers the best. Again, Chandlers is a GREAT restaurant. Too bad the corporate folks at Yankee can't see that too.
We meet at the restaurant several times a year. Love the atmosphere, but this time the service was horrible. The slowest I have seen and no refills on coffee when asked, got tomato and asked not for tomato, no dressing on salad, no soup spoons, no coffee spoons. The service was awful.
Had a delicious Salmon lunch and my friend had the scallops. Both were expertly cooked. Our server (I wish I could remember her name) was delightful, friendly and well versed about the menu and wine list. My friend and I don't have a chance to get together often, so it was a nice time at a favorite place.
Great rustic atmosphere with a large dinning room, romantic areas. The food is fresh, beautifully prepared and plated.
The service is good, the staff friendly and polite. There is also a small bar and room in the back. We have been coming here for our anniversary for 10 Years. We go thru Yankee candle, and Chandlers is right there. P.S. the duck is delishious!
I never ate at Chandlers before and read some reviews. I love meatloaf and the 3 reviews were ok., but not great. After a beer at the bar, I did order the meatloaf and was very surprised of the portion and the taste. Excellent! This doesn't mean that everyone will be satisfied as I was, but it will certainly have me returning to try something else.
We were seated after a brief wait despite arriving 30 minutes prior to our reservation. The initial ordering and delivery of our first bottle of wine went fine. Then the waiting began. Despite only about half the tables being occupied there were long waits between each course, and we were out of wine for about 30 minutes before our waitress showed up and we could order another bottle. Our entree was delivered two and a half hours after we initially sat down which is unacceptable. Our waitress did offer free desserts due to the long waits but by that time we just wanted to get home. The food was ok, but not that special so it didn't make up for the long waits. Will not return, especially since we had a similar experience the last time we were there about three years ago.
Chandler's is a great place to go for a romantic dinner. The décor is very charming, and the fireplace and candlelight (unscented) add so much to the atmosphere. The food is delicious. This is also a nice place to go with friends or family, and is great for parties. My daughter had a small wedding reception there a few years ago, and it was really lovely.
We always check the WHAI 30% store online, where Chandler's usually has a $25 dinner coupon for only $17. It's a good deal.
My boyfriend and I were on an overnight trip for the Yankee Candle store and ate at Chandler's for the first time. We loved the atmosphere. There are no bad seat and there was live music the night we were there. Our waitress was beyond nice and attentive and the food was delicious. The menu is limited but there was no issue finding something we each enjoyed.
This was our second visit. Our first received 5s across the board, due to wonderful food, candlelit fireplace, and live music. So, we returned.
This evening we were stuck in a corner, although there were only two other parties and we had reservations. The Maitre D' was sick and sneezed all over the water picture she was using. The food was good, but (for the price) it should have made us weep for joy. The wait staff of 7 bid us a friendly adieu, while the restaurant remained empty (at 6:30 on Friday) and the Maitre D' reached for a tissue.
Waitress did not introduce herself and seemed a bit spacey. She cleared our soup bowls and whipped the oyster crackers off the table even though my bag was unopened and my husband's was half-eaten. Clam chowder was very starchy. My chicken pot pie was not as noted in the menu: I expected a CRUST not a piece of puff pastry dome on top. Clam chowder was very starchy. My husband had meatloaf with extra gravy (NOT) and said it was a bit salty. I have eaten here in the past and have never had a bad meal. :-(
We had an excellent experience at Chandler's. We were celebrating a family member's birthday and were there with a large group that included young children. The waitresses were very prompt and attentive. The restaurant has a throwback historic charm. Food was delicious and booking the reservation online could not have been easier.
This restaurant has the perfect romantic atmosphere, is also a great place to have a family meal. The lighting is perfect and the view through the window was magical. Is not a place next to the water or anything fancy like that but there was a wreath on the window and you can see the snow and the trees it was just beautiful and peaceful.
