Central Michel Richard
Sunday: 11:00am - 2:30 pm
This was one of the best resturant experiences we've had in a very long time! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The staff was so attentive and the food was amazing.
As always, food and service was excellent. We had several of our old favorites (fried chicken; ‘burger; Mac ‘n cheese) as well as a chicken/lemon burger which was delicious
We had an excellent meal and our waiter was very knowledgeable. He made us feel very comfortable and was so accomodating. We had a lovely time.
We celebrated Bastille Day with an early dinner of fish and duck. The tasty appetizers, goat cheese salad and tuna carpaccio, were a hit as were the salmon and duck breast main courses. Dessert is always a treat here. Wine parings and some bubbly concluded a blue-blanc-rouge fête.
Central had delicious food and our waiter was amazingly attentive and had a great personality. The food was wonderful - lots to choose from - and there is an extensive wine list. I would highly recommend it!
Awesome as usual!!!
This is a restaurant that satisfies everyone's taste buds. We have enjoyed every one of our dining experiences. The salmon is delicious; Michel's fried chicken is positively outrageous; the pork is wonderful; the roast chicken is excellent as is the spaghetti Bolognese. The goat cheese Caesar salad is crisp, refreshing and delicious--it's also an excellent choice to share. The pate and fois gras are treats served with the crusty warm bread. If you can save room for one the delicious desserts, you will be rewarded as they are outstanding.
The pork chop was a little dry, but the fried chicken, beef tartare, and drinks were impeccable. We got complimentary mini chocolate ice cream bars at the end of our meal--a lovely way to end a delicious meal!
We went there for dinner on one of the most beautiful evenings of the year so far and were able to secure a table outside. It would have been hard for anything to go wrong given the overwhelmingly gorgeous weather but Central cooperated so everything was pretty perfect. We've eaten there before several times and have generally liked it. Some of the main courses are a tad overpriced but overall, we like going there and the food is tasty. The service on Sat was impeccable.
The chicken was tough and chopped salad was not that flavorful.
Very disappointed. Have dined many times before but this time the food was terrible. My favorite fried chicken was very bland and served lukewarm. Had to request salt and pepper! My girlfriend's hangar steak seemed to be pre-cooked, perhaps sous vide. Again, no flavor and lukewarm. Gougeres were not freshly baked.
Since last chef left to open Unconventional Diner, my dining experience has gone with him. Won't be back any time soon. I had given glowing referral for post-theater dinner but I had to withdraw it.
Great food and drink. Friendly service. Fried chicken was very tasty.
The food was exactly what you would expect from a restaurant with the provenance of Michel Richard: superb in every respect. Service? The same. The decibel level was unfortunate but that will not prevent me from returning to this wonderful place.
Started in the bar area for happy hour and never even moved to a table. Server and host were happy to let us continue on where we were. Food was awesome. The fried chicken exceeds the hype. Will return.
The risotto with shrimp was dry and so salty I couldn't eat it. Only did not return it to upset my hosts. I was shocked as I suggested the restaurant as it had always been so very good.
We came for fried chicken, cheese puffs, and ice cream as was suggested. We threw in soft shell crab as an appetizer. All was excellent and the service was great. We did find the noise to be a bit much. Sitting across from each other at a small table made it a bit difficult to talk to one another. The overall experience was great.
I'll admit that I'm very picky when it comes to a place that is supposed to be a great dining experience.
Overall, the food was good, not great. The Tuna appetizer was a little too peppery, but good. The yellow Gazpacho was the best I've ever had. The bacon-mushroom tart was salty. My entre—the Risotto— was salty and otherwise bland, and my companion's pork chop was superb.
The lack of tablecloths, hard floor and other reflective surfaces combined to make the environment a noisy one.
Overall a B+.
The service was excellent, best waiter we have ever had.
Food is consistently good but service was disappointing. Felt Ike a factory where they just wanted to get us out as soon as possible. Waiter asked if we were ready to order 5 seconds after dropping the menu and had not even asked if we wanted drinks. My guest also commented that it’s not what it used to be.
Greatest Fried Chicken on the Planet.
We celebrated our anniversary with the post theater menu at Central. We shared the crab croquettes and each started with the goat cheese caesar salad. For the entree, we both selected the fried chicken. We differed on dessert, with my husband ordering a coconut sorbet sundae. I chose the chocolate bar. The food was good, but not outstanding, for the price and reputation. Admittedly, I've had better fried chicken at another, local DC restaurant chain (GAR). The mashed potatoes were good, and dessert, delicious. The rest of the meal was fine but I would have preferred a lighter breading on the croquettes, less dressing and goat cheese on the caesar salad and slightly more dressing on the microgreens that accompanied the chicken. Our waiter was friendly, but we had to ask several times for more water when the restaurant was almost empty (close to closing). Good experience, but not worth a return visit.
The food is rich and delicious, but generally oversalted.
Entrees were mostly overcooked and over salted. Service was disappointing with cocktails carried by hand to the table complete with fingerprints. Certainly not one of the best places to eat in dc anymore.
I've been a fan of Central for a long time, and the food is always really good! And the service has never disappointed. I have noticed over the past few years that the space itself has become a little old. Probably time for a renovation soon...but that's the only criticism that I can think of. Otherwise, I love this place and will continue to go. The pre-fixe menu is one of the best deals in town!
Excellent soup, chicken entree was pedestrian and mainly greasy, the flavors of the dessert were muddled by too many competing flavors. My companion's entree was overcooked. The food overall was ok, with adequate portions, but overall disappointing. The restaurant was not full but still very noisy.
Very good serve staff and friendly front desk staff.
Just wasn't wowed.
We love Central and we try to go there every time we go to DC. The food is impeccable! Everything is just done so perfectly. My husband always loves the fried chicken. We both had the gazpacho with burrata - divine!!! I had the lunch special and it came with a small sundae with coconut sorbet. Again - they just do everything right. The service is superior (even if you are a tourist in a tank top and shorts or an ungodly hot day). Everything is tops at Central!!
The staff was very polite and always available. Food was very good and came out in good time.
Well prepared favorites. Outstanding desserts . Try the Napoleon and the Celebration Cake (1 cake equals 3 ample or 4 appropriate servings) - Service is attentive and prompt.
Although I miss seeing Chief Richard as he circulated from the kitchen to the front of house, I am sure he would be so proud that the quality of the food and service continues to maintain his high standards!!
We wanted something with a traditional based menu but allowed for creativity with taste. Centra Michel Richards was the perfect blend of both. We enjoyed the lamb leg but the highly recommended menu item is the stake and fires.
We enjoyed many stakes while in DC and this was by far our favorite.
I had the duck confit, which was rather dry, but the accompanying shitake mushrooms were delicious. It was an early-ish dinner and quiet.
This was a great restaurant for Sunday brunch. The drinks are strong and the food is extremely fresh. This is the place for a nice 3 course brunch
Remarkably consistent great food, expertly prepared and presented in a convivial atmosphere. Still one of the best dining experiences to be had in DC.
We attended the restaurant on a Saturday night, quiet area at that time. The special drinks were awesome, a sangria and gin cocktail. The food was excellent, appetizers, soft shell crab and a beet salad, so good! Our entrees were equally as delightful. Also, our server was very timely and attentive! We will certainly return for dinner!
Always great! Every aspect is special.
While the food was comfortably good, usually when I come it is fantastic so maybe I was a little disappointed. I ordered the shrimp with the risotto. Beautifully presented, just maybe a tad to salty for my taste. We sat outside this time (a first for me it generally fills up on pretty days). Pennsylvania Ave. is noisy but it was totally worth it to enjoy the pleasant day. In all we had a good experience and I will be back again.
Great evening. The service was outstanding and the food excellent. Although the options were limited for the one person in our party who is vegetarian, the veggie soup and entree were excellent.
Wonderful as always.
This is a wonderfully reliable restaurant for great food and attentive service. It is also very conveniently centrally located for meeting friends or business acquaintances who work anywhere in DC.
Everything was great. Bartender was friendly and helpful aiding my wife in s cocktail choice. Table waiter was perfect, attentive but not bothersome. Great food.
