Central never fails I. Serving delicious, comforting French bistro food. Its quality has remained remarkably high over the years. It’s menu has also been stable over the years with few variations, but that formula works well. We tried the new oyster/crabs gratinee appetizer last night and was happy we did. The service is always attentive and there’s never a long wait for anything. We enjoy going there and feel good when we leave. Last night had a very festive ambiance, which was kind of expected given the upcoming holidays. However, the noise level was quite high and the music definitely too loud. Fortunately, Al Green is a favorite and the continuous loop of his songs playing during the entire stay while a bit odd, was chicken soup for any diners looking for ways on how to mend a broken heart and seeking further love and happiness. One of our go-to restaurants, always.
The food is wonderful, but the noise level and the bright lighting detract from the experience.
The fried chicken is indeed worth the trip.
This what is my second time at Michels . Eight of us were here for my birthday. Everything was perfect great service and great food thanks so much
Fun place for dinner. Been here many times and always solid experience. Had the most excellent wine- Radio Syrah. And check out our snowman dessert!
Service & food was excellent. Wish they would bring back the meatloaf entree.
Excellent - all around-
Fund raiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Beautifully done. Great desserts. Staff was quite attentive.
Wonderful food. Friendly service. Good attention to COVID protocols.
I was happy to see the food was as delicious as before the pandemic!
Absolutely fantastic experience!! Every course was outstanding! The bolognese and the fried chicken are standouts. And the service was fabulous. Boris is great. Will definitely be back next DC trip.
Our experience was good but the food came to the table too quickly! This was not due to our waiter but rather the kitchen brought the main course before the appetizers were even finished. Felt a little rushed but the food quality was very good!
Great service. OK food- a bit pricey for what you get, Fun atmosphere
Service was good and food was delicious!! Staff meet are every need
Creative dishes, great food, good value.
The waiter was great and informative. The Manager was absolutely personable and stellar; came to the table to introduce himself and see if we were pleased! Very impressive!
Everything was delicious. The service was impeccable. The staff was friendly and just so delightful.
A big shout out to the really nice lady in the front!
The best restaurant in DC
Food was excellent, service was excellent, but forget having an conversation. Quite noisy.
Wonderful experience this past Saturday. EVERYTHING was delicious. Started with the kale salad. Perfectly dressed. Great flavor. Light. The bartender told me the chicken shnitzel was one of the chef's favorites to make and it showed! Perfectly breaded, not excessively. Capers and lemon were a great addition. I had a side of the green beans almondine. Another very well done side. Simple but full of flavor and not greasy or overdone. I finished with the chocolate bar for dessert! WOW. Loved the caramel pearls. It paired very well with my Bordeaux.
The service was great. Kiwi (Bartender) is always smiling, makes you feel welcome, and is knows the menu well. Isabelle (General Manger) takes great care in the success of the restaurant. Constantly talking to tables, helps servers with drink suggestions, being very welcoming.
Compared to other DC restaurants Central Michel Richard provides stellar food at very reasonable prices in a bright welcoming atmosphere. I'm looking forward to sharing it with friends.
Wonderful dining experience with a staff that paid attention to service. All of us were happy with our food and drinks.
The environment was excellent. The service was really nice, polite, and professional. The food was outstanding and the dessert is one of the best one I’ve had in my life . We will definitely come back next time we are in DC.
The food was really good, but the desserts, oh my word, they were amazing! It was like a taste of heaven!! The service was immaculate and fast considering the elegance of the restaurant. 10/10 would recommend!
Too noisy and too crowded, but the food and service was amazing.
Had Thanksgiving dinner there with their special menu for the day. We were seated promptly, and had pur order taken. Everything came out well-timed, well-temp'd, and well presented. You can see the kitchen from half of the tables, which, as a former line cook, was a little offputting but that is a personal take bc I would have loathed being "onstage" during my shift.
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. It was nice that they had both the set menu for Thanksgiving as well as the regular dinner menu, for those that weren't as hungry for a big meal or didn't prefer a traditional turkey dinner. Very efficient service for a day that was extremely busy.
The service, and ambiance were great. The food was salty, and the mushroom pasta and steak frites were not good. My older son also had a moderate allergic reaction to the chocolate ice cream perhaps due to cross contamination with nuts. We had alerted the restaurant of nut allergies. Since it was Thanksgiving and we didn't want to ruin it for others, we didn't mention it to the server. Overall, it was a good experience.
My family went for Thanksgiving so I can’t review the full menu but based on how good our food was, I will absolutely go back! It was spacious, clean bathrooms, coat closet and extremely attentive waitstaff.
We were excited to splurge and spend Thanksgiving at Central. We left disappointed with the food and the experience. Our turkey dinners were extremely salty and uninspired, the soup and dessert bland and tasteless. My kids meals (fried chicken and steak frites) were good so lesson learned - stick to what they already know and do well!
We picked Central in part because of the vax mandate for guests. But then they sat two children clearly not old enough to be eligible for a vaccine right next to us - with tables packed so tightly they might as well have been dining with us.
The service was a bright spot. Friendly, efficient and attentive.
Thanksgiving lunch was delicious. Lots of service and nicely packed leftovers since the serving was generous.
Weak service. Server just seemed to not be very interested in us.
Fantastic service, great food at a reasonable price!
A-1 hospitality from everyone, and very tasty food and knowledgeable servers. Love that they check vaccination status at the door. Highly recommend and would come back!
Food was as wonderful as I remember it from the last time we were there pre-COVID. The mussels and steak au poivre were amazing! This was our first time dining indoors at a restaurant in over a year and we chose Central because of their COVID policy. They checked everyone's vaccine cards at the door and are the only local restaurant we've been to that does that. We'll definitely be back soon!
The food and service were excellent. I also really like that they asked for vaccination status.
One of the worst dining experiences ever. We do fine dining and this place should close.
Terrible service — waiter barely came over. No checking up on anything. Long wait when we sat down before even water, let alone cocktails and appetizers. Not helpful with menu. Food was low quality — terrible oysters/crab; drenched in mayo sauce and cheese and salty. Terrible entrees and deserts. Cocktails terrible and no garnishes..Felt like a diner— bright and ridiculously loud. Horrible. Over priced. Was noted in our OpenTable res that were there for anniversary— no acknowledgement. They are lucky I gave 10% tip versus 0. A disgrace to Michel Richard when you hang in entrance his 2008 James Beard award.
Michel Richard must be turning over in his grave! We returned to Central after a long absence (due to the pandemic), and found the service to be above average, while everything else was below average. The food was not especially well prepared, the noise level was atrocious, and tables are packed fairly close to one another. In this time of social distancing, it doesn't appear that Central cares very much. Our visits before the pandemic were marked by excellent food as well as excellent service. Given the competition for dining out dollars, I think most of us can do way better than Central Michel Richard.
Food was delicious and well prepared, and the service was first-rate. A bit noisy, but then it was a Saturday night. The only downside -- the restaurant doesn't offe valet parking.
A DC classic that never disappoints! Excellent food and service.
The Cannelloni Bolognese was absolutely perfect, utilizing a bechamel sauce instead of read. Genius! A great meal, great ambience, great time!
