We were a party of five and enjoyed lunch during Restaurant Week. The Restaurant Week offerings were terrific and the service was perfect. There was a slight mix-up on our reservation (5 rather than 4 people) when we arrived at the front desk, but the maitre de handled it beautifully and we ended up with a large table in a private room at the back of the restaurant. It was lovely! We'll definitely be back.
It was great...like it always is.
4 of us came for Restaurant Week. This was our first visit here. Two started with onion soup and two had a salad. Each had a different main course. Trout, meatloaf, fried chicken, curry. Desserts were cake and pudding. The food was outstanding. Restaurant Week aside, the portions were very generous. It took time to eat all of the food. It was just like a regular lunch. The service was very attentive. We were well taken care of. We look forward to returning here during the year for future lunches.
Nice menu, good food, and excellent value for the price.
Joining the ranks who sing the praises of the fried chicken - it was awesome.
Great food and ambiance during my first visit to this restaurant. The second sever we had was very attentive and was sure to keep the water glasses filled! I had the steak frites which were cooked to perfection (the fries stood out - crispy and hot), I also tried the onion tart which was small but the perfect light start to the meal. Finished with a delightful chocolate bar, a chocolate lovers dream...it's basically, a fancy kit kat. I am looking forward to my next visit to this restaurant.
great for two or three people, for more the noise level is too high if you want to talk. Nicely lively ambiance and good food.
Central never disappoints!! Great food, service, great place!!
I had dine at your restaurant a year or so ago. I brought my son my leftover fried chicken dinner. He was in heaven.. I told him one day I would take him. So other day he mention it again: Mom what about that fried chicken you promised me. I said that’s where we are going for your 9th Birthday .. He was super happy. We went for brunch but wants to go back for dinner to really experience the fried chicken..
Thanks again for the great service ...
The snowman dessert was 10 out of 10. Beet salad 9 out of 10. Scallops perfectly cooked but chestnut risotto that they were served over was only okay. Fried chicken needed the sauce. Beef tare tare not what expected, didn't like something in it. Mushrooms salty.
Waiter to quite a while before taking our order. We had to flag down the busyboy to get assistance.
Once approached, service was good.
A very tasty Caesar salad with salmon. Nicely dressed and plated, salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Generous portion.
I was expecting big things from Central as my first experience. We had the lunch special which included appetizer, main and dessert. All were merely average and sadly the salmon was over cooked and the accompanying sauce too thick and rather tasteless. The service was good and noise level fine for easy conversation (although this was a late lunch so not many guests).
Went here on a triple date, and we all had a blast. The Fried Chicken is just outstanding, and the eggseptional dessert too!! Our waiter was the perfect combination of friendly, warm, and witty, while being responsive to our needs. Couldn't have had a better time!!
Excellent food and service.
Great food and great service; love Central!
It was Great! Went for a Birthday brunch. The food was exceptional and great service. It’s s good value very enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Went with friends for brunch before a show. The food was awesome and the service was even better. Will definitely go again!
From the waiter to the gougères to the fried chicken, Central is consistently excellent over the years. I only wish they had profiteroles on the dessert menu.
Gougeres were light and fluffy and generous in portion; pre theatre menu was excellent value and selection; food was very nice. Companion ordering a la carte found the pumpkin pie inedibly dense and the ice cream likewise somewhat odd tasting and unusually heavy; but the coconut sorbet sundae was outstanding. Companion’s issues with her selections were addressed discreetly and appropriately. Meatloaf was excellent and salmon quite tasty with lovely simple presentation. Service was superlative.
wonderful food, delightful service! Especially enjoyed pork on bao buns, boullibase and lamb entrees. Lovely surprise dessert for my birthday. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends!
Excellent menu very friendly staff really appropriate size an excellent pricing for all the appetizers and entrées fantastic desserts excellent place for the whole family
The food was absolutely delicious! the service was excellent!
alwayS CONSISTENTLY GREAT FOOD AN D great service... we're regulars !!!
Food was not as good as normal.
Chef Sean Mulcahy and Chef Tony prepared an outstanding meal!
As frequent diners at Central, we were very disappointed on December 27 when we had dinner at 5:00. The restaurant was empty but we were shown to a very small table by a column that made seating difficult. Even at that early hour, Central was out of some basics like wedge lettuce and avocado. The appetizers were long before prepared and were served lukewarm. The crab cake was bitter and tasteless. While the server apologized, we waited almost 30 minutes between our appetizers and our main courses. The only redeeming items were the meatloaf and the caesar salad. The
We will be reluctant to return given the alternatives.
The fish on the fish and chips was not completely cooked. Onion soup was too cool— the cheese a solid mass. The snowman desserts were spectacular and our grandchildren loved them.
Sommelier's recommendation was spot on again! And he suggested a bottle that was $40 under my announced limit. Superb wine.
The food was very good, service okay and the price and location was good for tourists. My only real complaint was that the decor seemed very dated, the room was way too bright and my feet were sticking to the floor as we walked thru the main dining area. It was also very loud...but I was expecting that. So...if they renovate, I will be back as we did have a very nice meal.
We enjoyed dining here and hope to be back. The pork belly was incredible! One of the best french fries in DC! The snowman vacherin is fabulous!
One of our favorite restaurants in the DC area. Food & service were exceptional! If your in the DC area you need to seriously check this place out...
Most accommodating with seating and special needs met with food! Boris did a great job waiting on us. A great meal and ambiance!
Central is a great go to restaurant; food so good and reliable. Certainly bustling for the holidays but they know how to manage the crowd. I had scallops; my friend fried chicken. Kinda great. Love the restaurant
excellent service Michael did a great job, our lunch date ran late and everyone continued to be very gracious and helpful.
Pleasant pretheatre menu.
Food, Service, Ambience all outstanding. However, it is not a place for conversation at any level. Noise level is over the top. While our table of 6 certainly enjoyed our food, we couldn't carry on a conversation that could be heard by anyone other than one next to us. What a shame!
Restaurant was empty at 9:00 PM?? ???!
And yet, meat ordered medium arrived almost done.
I did not even bother to return it.
Won’t be back. Sorry because I used to really like it.
Good food, good value and great service act a very busy lunch time.
The food was amazing! Our service from our server Michael was less than pleasant!
