Formerly a machine shop in East Austin, Central Machine Works has preserved the historical building to be Austin’s favorite neighborhood and family-friendly beer hall. Central Machine Works’ approachable and nostalgic vibe evokes the time-honored tradition of enjoying a classic beer amongst family and friends. The lively beer hall also features a tap room with full bar, outdoor beer garden, live music & backyard games. We enjoyed the music and had good seating. We were very disappointed that there was no food being served. I wish a message had been sent to us to inform us of this. We would have eaten before we went to the venue. I was disappointed that no one was enforcing mask wearing of people when they were not seated.

A group of six girls were visiting Austin from out of town and this place had great ratings on open table. The food service is a little glitchy in terms of seating and ordering. You order at the bar and not with a waitress, but still require a reservation for seating. We didn’t get much direction from the hostess, however when we told another employee that we were just seated and not given direction, she immediately apologized, gave us two free beer tickets and showed us where everything was! Now for the important parts, the food was so great especially the pizzas! I recommend the Machinist! The ambience was cool and laid back. They had the Austin FC game going inside and live music setting up outside! I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Austin again! Great vibes!

This is a really cool place. We went on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks. After a few beers, we went to order dinner at 9pm but they run out of food and closed the kitchen. I don't know if this was a one night problem. We had to leave because we were planning on eating and the four of us were starving. Regardless, the atmosphere and decor is next level and we'll be back. We're sure they'll get the kitchen figured out.

Love this restaurant. Great beer choices, full bar too. Food is delicious, made fresh when ordered. Disappointed the roasted corn wasn’t on the menu; maybe it will be brought back in the Summer. Also, no pretzels. They ran out. These pretzels are so good! Popular menu item so I think by dinner time they run out. Disappointing though. One of our pizzas never came so they apologized and comped us for it. It was a birthday dinner and everyone including the 8 year old had a fun time. Also love that they support local artists and have different art shows on a rotating basis. Very nice! We’ll be back, definitely for the food and for the stellar service :)

The best tomato basil soup with grilled cheese sandwich; hubby had the pizza and said it was awesome! Loved the band (Dead Heirs). Bar tender was outstanding! Can’t wait to return.
