Cena Ratings and Reviews
Cena is the restaurant in the Chateaux hotel in Park City. The hotel uses it as its all purpose restaurant. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but the service is very good and the food is credible, if not top notch Italian. The menu is quite limited. We don't know how to rate this against other SLC Italians, but it is not a top tier Italian re the rest of the country. This is one of those very annoying places on Open Table that calls to confirm your reservation even though it has been confirmed on Open Table. This is a ridiculous practice used by only most egotistical of restaurants, and I usually cancel my reservation when they do it, but went ahead this time - although I chewed out the person calling.
We are in Park City for a couple of months and this restaurant menu looked very good and it turned out to be very nice. We had a cannellini bean crostini with bacon that was outstanding. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese and my wife had a corn ravioli. All were memorable.
The service at Cena was first class, very attentive and informative. Nice folks in a relaxed but upscale ski environment. My cioppino was good but very small portion. My wife's Maltagliati was much better both in flavor and portion size, I'll get that next time. Unfortunately, up at Silver Lake there are no "value" propositions, it's all expensive. I understand another hotel is being built, maybe they'll be a reasonable priced Irish Pub! that would be fun
This was quite a hidden gem. The food was excellent. We had the appetizer pizza , the spinach lasagna and some fabulous red wine which paired well with our food. Chief Chris came out to our table and we could not give him enough praise on how good and fresh the overall meal was. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone!! Thank you Cena, Chief Chris and the staff!!
It is in a condo hotel type building. Very good if you are staying by there. Not sure it is worth driving to. All the food was very good except the octopus. It was just ok. We had a pizza along with the octopus for an app, then steak, fish and seafood pasta. Small portions for the price. The bread was very good.
We have dined at Cena on each of our last 5 or 6 ski trips, and we noticed a definite
improvement in the food quality on this most recent visit. My wife and I both had
the cioppino, which was excellent, and loaded wth mussels, clams, shrimp, and fish chunks
on top of angel hair psta, and sitting in a delicious broth. Also, we heard people raving
about the pizza. For a quiet meal, eat in the main dining room. For an energetic
environment, dine in the bar, particularly if you want to watch a sporting event on
one of the two TV's in the bar.
My husband and I stayed at The Chateaux for a romantic getaway - don't get me started but our Chateaux stay was not exactly romantic - that's an entirely separate review. We had dinner at Cena. It was anything but romantic - definitely not like the photos. There were only a couple other occupied tables, which immediately made me think it wasn't the best place to be having dinner on a winter Saturday night. We had the Mushroom Ragout Bruschetta for an appetizer, which was actually really good. For dinner I ordered the Pumpkin and Parmesan Ravioli and my husband the Pepperoni Spiced Hanger Steak. Both of us were underwhelmed. My ravioli was bland and in need of a sauce. The pasta was thick and heavy. My husband's steak tasted good but was so small. We ordered tiramisu to take to our room. Overall it was just okay. I definitely would not eat there again, given the choices in the area, but then again I wouldn't stay at the Chateaux again, either, so it won't be a problem.
Started with their whiskey lemonade- really a great refreshing summer drink. Visited Cena on warm summer night and sat outside. Very quiet and peaceful. Nice shade. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The lemon zest flavored house buratta was wonderfully creamy and fresh. It was served with grilled bread and crispy pork belly that was done perfectly. We also had the heirloom tomato salad served with house bacon as a starter. For entrees the spaghetti and meatballs was good but finding a rosemary as a dominant spice was a surprise- maybe the fresh rosemary was just particularly strong. The hanger steak was uniquely seasoned with pepperoni spices-- really tender and done perfectly and the thyme roasted carrots were a nice compliment. Wine list had a wide range of domestic and Italian wines at very fair price points. Will definitely go back.
Our hungry group of five had dinner at Cena prior to a concert at Deer Valley. The staff were welcoming, accommodating and very personable, especially our server, Lance.
As enticing as the patio was, we opted to sit indoors to enjoy the quiet of an almost empty restaurant (one advantage of an early seating). The atmosphere was calm, comfortable and conducive to conversation, which is precisely what we wanted knowing after dinner we'd be on our feet dancing to the raucous beat of 70's and 80's Rock classics.
While we mostly enjoyed our menu choices, only one of the entrees (the hanger steak) was rave-worthy. The only entrée that disappointed was the mushroom pappardelle as there were far more tomatoes than mushrooms and the pasta was a bit too al dente. We shared our critique with Lance who thanked us for our feedback and promised to share it with the chef straight away.
We plan to return to Cena this summer to sample more of their menu and enjoy their 5-star service.
We had a delightful dinner at Cena - we had a two for one coupon so that made it extra special. Everything we ate was good and nice portions. We had the skirt steak and the fish - both excellent. Bread was good also. It was quiet because it was off season - can't say about when it is busy. Waiter was great and very informative. It was our first time there.
Uninspired menu, uninspired decor, and food with uninspired flavors. There was a reason that the dining room was perhaps 1/4 full on a Saturday night in the middle of ski season. With all of the choices available in Park City, this is fall back choice at best when you cannot get into one of the better restaurants.
The appetizers at Cena were excellent. We eagerly looked forward to the main dishes. However, my vegetable lasagna arrived cold with a gloppy sauce on top and my son's raviolis were merely adequate. The restaurant gave a free main dish to compensate for the lasagna, but the experience overall was disappointing with the high point at the beginning and the low toward the the end. For the price, which was very high, I can't recommend this restaurant
Our experience at Cena was great. All aspects. I liked being able to make a reservation so that Christmas Eve went smoothly. Our server was awesome and the others helping made everything run very efficiently.
We were sitting next to a large window, which made it a bit chilly. That would be the only negative comment.
Best and most reasonably priced meal while in Deer Valley/ Park City. Cesear salad wad better than Montage. Pizza was outstanding and the Pasta was cooked to perfection. Everything tasted great. We sat in the bar area which is very comfortable , was busy but not loud. The wine list has several reasonably priced Italian ( as well as more expensive ones). Waiter was super attentive.
